Cheap Arse Gaffer |Europe| We Need To Go Cheaper

I have, fortunately, been adding the Vita games on my PS+ account so that's a relief.

Forgot about the whole proprietary memory card bullshit with the Vita. Is £43 really the cheapest option for 32gb? I appreciate this is probably a good deal for the official one.

Is there no other option?

Its a ridiculous price in comparison with regular non-propitiatory cards but it is a really good deal for the card.

It IS expensive, but I feel the price is fine considering all the Vita games given away on PS+. I won't have to buy many Vita games at all. Not for a while at least :)

I have a 16gb since launch, and it's really manageable.
You don't really HAVE to get all your games at once I think.
In a single 16Gb I think I have 4 retail games, about 5 PSN games, and 5 PSP/PSOne games ( some are quite heavy such as FF9 or Peace Walker ).
Depends also if you have a really slow internet speed ( I do, and downloading at night isn't a problem ) or bandwitch usage limitations.

Was just thinking today that with the price drop, upcoming PS4 functionality, and my PS+ library, it might be time to invest in a Vita.

That deal... that deal looks pretty great.

Someone talk me out of it?

It'll only get cheaper as time goes by. No need to rush. Play what you have. Save your money. Get it later. You probably have enough games already, don't you?

I very nearly bought one earlier before adopting this mentality. Ultimately, besides Persona 4 Golden, there's nothing I'm absolutely desperate to play on the Vita, even if it is a nice piece of kit, and I have so many PS3 and PC games in my backlog already.

Gonna stay true to my promise that I wouldn't make any more expensive video game purchases before the PS4 arrives.

Dammit, seems that Vita bundle has sold out...
Edit: Nevermind found it on the second page of PSP results, where else would it be?

It's Shopto via Play.com though... Shopto's reliability should offset Play's shittiness.

Isn't play just a marketplace at this point? The Vita is sold by ShopTo, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, my bad. I didn't notice it would be fulfilled by Shopto. Still, I'm wary of anything that appears on Play.com after the hell I went through with my last order.

Really? Play.com used to be excellent, what happened?

I've never had a good experience when using them. The last one saw me wait three months for a game that was supposed to be delivered on release day. Phoning them up was useless, emailing them was just as useless, eventually it got to the point where I had to threaten I'd ask my bank to refund the charge and magically my order went from processing to dispatched in 24hrs.

Terrible company.

What about adding the games to the PS+ account? I have a Vita since launch and was planning on picking up some months of PS+, is there something I need to know before doing it? Like free games or so?

I'm not sure what you're asking so I'm going to make a stab in the dark.

You can only claim PS+ games while you've got a valid subscription. You have to add every game you want to keep permanently to your account during that month, by adding it to your basket and checking out through the PSN store (either through your ps3, vita, or pc).
Any games you did not do this for in the month, you CANNOT claim at a later time, so if you only get PS+ now, you wouldn't be able to download the games (for free) that have been on PS+ since the vita launched.

GAF, any good preorder deals on Diablo 3 and GTA V (both PS3) ? Limited to Europe, please.

Edit: Never mind, preordered D3 at Amazon now. A lot of bonuses for the PS3 version and a free steelbook for 55 Euros ? Gimme !

what do you expect to get for them?

I would have accepted £40 but my order was declined.

I kept getting emails saying payment couldn't be made due to incorrect billing address details (despite no status change on my account and being charged). Called up and the lady said she would then process my order.. 5 minutes later I got a call from my bank about fraud prevention and was immediately put off the whole deal.

Apparently, because I haven't used Play.com since 2009, the call was necessary and I would have to re-order. Couldn't be arsed in the end.

I ordered that Vita off Play.com and the order has actually magically appeared in my ShopTo account. Pretty cool. Hopefully it is sent tomorrow.

I haven't played/purchased Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 yet despite LOVING Naruto because of spoilers.

I just watch the anime and apparently the game goes further than the show is up to at the moment story wise, so I held off purchasing simply because that. So its worked out for me pretty good in that sense, still can't play it anyway I don't think though lol.

I didn't want to make a thread about it, but looking at a bunch of site....next gen games seem to be about £60...

...these are place holder prices, right? They're not really gonna try and charge that? GAME have the balls to have some of their XBONE games at £75.

If this is the price, then I'm out before it even starts. I'm really shocked by these prices, it's insane.

IIRC, EA & MS confirmed that prices will be higher in the UK (45-55GBP). I'm at work, most of gaming sites are blocked, so I can't find a source.
But yea...it sucks. Seems like the days of 39.99GBP are gone, at least for now.

Well 39.99 in store has been gone for a while, Last of Us was like £43 when I looked the other week and Xillia was £44.99. But leaping to £60+ is just nuts, what's the reason? next gen tax?
Especially as next gen will be digital as well. The UK game's market is already a wasteland, this kind of greed will just kill it for good.

Launch window. Prices will stabilise within a month or two after the release hype starts to die down. It was the same with the last console launch. Games back then were marked up for £50 to £55 but quickly dropped to £40 - £45.

Surprisingly, it's actually already happening now with some games. Amazon has slashed the prices for a number of games to more sensible point. Still £5 - £10 more than you'd expect, but it's getting there.

I was looking forward to potentially going all digital with retail releases on the new consoles, but noticed on the PSN last night that Assassin's Creed 4 (on PS3) is available to pre-order digitally for £59.99!

Is this normal for new releases on PSN? Why is there a £20 premium on buying it digitally?

Depends on the publisher. Last of Us is £39.99. GTAV is £49.99.

Publishers set the prices. Most choose to just set it as the RRP and be done with it. They've defended it in the past by saying you're paying for the convenience of having it at your fingertips. Which is a crock of shit, of course.

Prices won't come down across the board for boxed games on XBL/PSN until retail is out of the picture entirely.

Usually I am shocked by prices of new games on UK PSN. Sony is doing something wrong, unless they don't want digital sales.
I would like to know is it that bad in other regions too. I mean, it makes no sense whatsoever, when a digital version of game is more expensive than the retail version every single time.

Another excuse they use is that they don't want to piss off retailers, even though in places like the UK online retailers constantly piss off mortar and brick retailers.

It probably won't even change when retail dies, it's just a nice excuse in the meantime to charge an additional £20.

Retail prices are just as high in most of europe, which is why so many people import stuff from the UK.

It's normal for most games. Only The Last of Us was priced sensibly.

Sony are generally pretty sensible with their pricing of retail games on the PSN store. Soul Sacrifice is £30. Killzone Mercenary is £30 too I think. They actually drop the prices of older games, and on the PS3 side they've had TLoU for £40, Sony Smash Bros. and Starhawk for £40 (again, before a price drop) and Sorcery was £30 when it launched, I recall. And, as Yasawas mentions above, Sly 4 was £20 cross-buy when it launched. It's a big game at 19GB, but I couldn't not buy it at that price! They're on of the few publishers who actually seem to get it, and I hope their sensible pricing pays off for them.

So dvd.co.uk is now base.com and they are sending out 10% discount codes. They rarely could match zavvi's prices so I barely used them, I wonder how this will affect their prices?

Hm, they have the best price I've seen for Soul Hackers, €34.35. With the code that's €31.
Puppeteer matches amazon's price with the code, I guess shipping fees will decide.

I imagine prices are unlikely to change, as they've been the same company for about five years anyway. Seems they've decided to just go forward with the Base.com brand and have ditched all their others. 101CD and BlahDVD just redirect there in the same way.

Has anyone who put Wonderful 101 through flubit before they changed to amazon only received their copy of the game?

Still heard nothing a week later, I contacted support 2 days ago as well. :/

Yeah, I used Flubit for my copy (using Zavvi as the price to get it for about £28). Mine arrived via Currys/PC World on Tuesday, though the delivery date was supposed to be last Friday. Perhaps the Bank Holiday backlog is stuffing up Royal Mail?
