Cheap Arse Gaffer |Europe| With Or Without EU

Kind of a weird one, I'm moving out into my own house and I'm looking to get a new TV

My budget is £500 and I want it to be 4K, have HDR, and be about 49/50'' in size

I've had a look at the TV threads and they're such a clusterfuck, and it doesn't help that the same TV's have different names for the UK and the US

If it's mainly going to be used for gaming, is there anything that you would recommend for that price range?

(Also, I don't have a Pro yet, but will get one soon, so I'll mainly be playing PS3/Wii U games on this TV for a while, do 720p games look like shit on 4K TV's?)

Your looking at something like the hisense models for that budget. Some well rated but I'm not familiar with their models or UK making so you'll need to dig some more. Shame you aren't looking for a 1080p set - trying to sell mine as I just got a 4K set and the old one is too big for the spare room so I'm downsizing

Even the HiSense models don't go that low with HDR 10 bit. Wait until after Christmas or wave longer.

I have a 15% off code for Origin that I don't want. It works on most purchases but not pre-orders and such.

Please if you claim it post here because it'll probably be single use.

Quote to see.

In-store Sainsburys yesterday I saw Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for £17 and Watch Dogs 2 £28. I will probably pick up Watch Dogs 2 in the new year, but that's a really good price considering it's, what, four weeks old?

Yup. It's following the trend of all end of year UbiSoft games.

Not gaming but Amazon echo £20 off, £5 off the dot, and £15 off the dot if you buy two (so I think £75 for two).

Tempted as I have a nest and just bought some hue lights.

Dot's were £40 during Black Friday week, a shame you didn't want one then.

I have the grinding fan issue with my Xbox One S and Tesco will not budge at all. I have informed them of the law but they keep directing me to Microsoft. They directly lied to me about Microsoft being their official choice for repairs of consoles, and put me through to Microsoft. When I asked the very helpful person on the line at Microsoft, he informed me that the replacement will be through Microsoft and Tesco will have nothing to do with it. I got back to Tesco and again, they told me that Microsoft is their choice, I informed them that Microsoft told me different and I was told that Microsoft are wrong.

Can you get your story straight here?

Both Tesco and Microsoft told you that a replacement has to go through them, correct? Why did you then tell Tesco that Microsoft said otherwise? Were you chancing your arm?

On the hunt for a lucario amiibo to complete my Smash collection, per chance has anyone seen one for a fair price? Seems to be rare at the mo. :/

My contract is with the trader, Tesco. My warranty with MIcrosoft is nothing to do with Tesco. I can get it repaired by Microsoft but that means I would be letting Tesco off with lying to me. I am, by law, allowed a repair, replacement or refund with the trader. Microsoft is nothing to do with it. Tesco told me that Microsoft carry out official repairs for Tesco, but when they put me through to Microsoft, Microsoft informed me that the warranty I would be claiming on would be directly from me to Microsoft and would have nothing to do with Tesco. My rights with Tesco are completely separate from anything Microsoft offers me.

Basically, Tesco refused to do anything and told me to go to Microsoft. Microsoft did offer a repair, but I wanted it with Tesco.

I have it sorted now anyway. Tesco have apologised.

Also, why are you accusing me of being dishonest? Are you really surprised Tesco has poor customer service after all the nonsense that has been in the news regarding the company?

GameStop has The Nathan Drake Collection and The Order: 1886 for 10€ each. That was a damn good deal.

I rather doubt they do, but does Gamestop.de ship outside Germany? Some of those deals are worth having an ugly USK logo.

The Legend of Kay Anniversary is is on sale on the Wii U eShop right now for £3.99

Is it worth checking out?

AFAIK, it's the worst version of the different ports that studio did. The game back in PS2 was fairly good. If it's worth checking out nearly ten years later with some performance issues while considering it's fairly cheap, is up to you I imagine. You can check some videos on the gameplay to see if it's your thing.

The bits I've played of it (2h?) I encountered no performance issues at all. Game ran smoothly on Wii U.

It does have atrociously bad voice acting and super boring/long introtorial that makes Twilight Princess whiners jump off bridges, though. Fun game otherwise. Hard to say anything against buying it for the price of a fancy coffee.

Similar experience here. I didn't have any problems with how it ran.

Don't go expecting a Wii U game though. It plays very much like a PS2 era budget game still, they didn't change anything in that department. Just did some work on the graphics.

Just tested it and they only let you choose Germany as a country option. But don't worry, you aren't missing anything. Last time I checked the site every game was already sold out online. :/

Got myself Fire Emblems Fate Birthright for 20€, MGS V and the Uncharted collection for 10€ each . Usually I hate gamestop because they are expensive as fuck. But not this time. :D

Tried to find ANYTHING to bypass the shipping costs because I wanted the Uncharted Collection for 10€. Didn't find a single game I wanted/was cheap enough.

Right now they offer a free copy of Sunset Overdrive with every XBO game purchase (and people here on GAF ask for a sequel...) and yet I couldn't find anything. Nothing. Sad.

It's still cheap, even with the shipping costs.
Also browsed through the selection and there was nothing that particularly catched my eye.

Yeaahhhh but since I don't need it RIGHT NOW and I wanted the free Sunset Overdrive I backed out. I mean what, am I supposed to buy an overpriced copy of AC4 or what?

Steep for 39.- at Müller, Germany. With the Rossmann app -10%, s 35,10 € which is a pretty good price.

Thats a good price, but I can't find that offer online.

But i found STEEP for £24.99 at amazon.co.uk. With shipping to Germany thats £27.63 (32.91€). Requires a creditcard. Thats a very good deal.

To anyone who got the launch edition of The Last Guardian from Shopto, how do i access the mini soundtrack? Is the download code supposed to be in the box, or do they mail the code to you?

Picked up steep for my Son, who was wanting it for xmas....glad I waited...nearly bought it on release to put away for Xmas

would of been mightily pissed off, had a paid new release price...though I fully expect to see it at £17.99 in January sales

Sweet, got it at that price. The traditional UbiBomb continues!

Incidentally the PC version of Steep is £21 on the uplay store if you make use of the 100 points into a 20% coupon code.

Watchdogs 2 for PC is that price also using the same code.

I just picked up Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright for 20 Euro.
Pretty good deal.

I'm actually thinking about getting Mario Tennis for Wii U. I mean it's 9,99 Euro. I guess it's bare-bones but still fun...

Oh the 10€ Fast Racing Neo retail copy from Amazon.de actually has fully german text on the box. That's a bit of a bummer.. But for that price with the DLC included I'm not complaining.

So glad I waited... just a week basically 😬

The Last Guardian Steelbook Ed. is €40.98 at Gamestop.it (both instore and online, express shipping included) today only.
Awesome!

Edit: whoops, sorry Alessandro

Don't tell me a German copy of a game bought on German amazon having German text on the box surprised you.

What is this thing with Germans wanting German text on their boxes anyway? Can't they, like the British and Americans, don't be so problematic and just be happy with English? ;-)

The irony here is that 99% of the time we don't want German in our games either.
