Cheapest place to pick up Lumines import?

So far it doesn't seem like this one is coming to NA, and I'd rather not take the chance and wait till March to see if things pan out...cause if they don't, EBay may be the last place to find it, and at exorbitant prices at that. So, on to my Q, where can I find this game for the cheapest price (that ships to Canada)?

Danke.

I just found a Play-Asia coupon in the couch, which is kinda weird. No idea if it's good or not, but check your PM.

Hey Pedigree, if you get a coupon with your Lumines purchase, do you mind PMing me with the code? I wouldn't mind importing Lumines as well. Better safe than sorry just in case it doesn't make it's way over here.

As long as BuddyC won't need need it, sure. But now I'm having second thoughts, if this game does indeed come to NA I'll save a lot of dough just waiting it out. Decisions, decisions. It would make it a lot easier on me if Kobun would speak up a bit more on the issue.

Edit: I just realized that I'll save, max $20 (if the MSRP is $40CDN)...which is negligible anyways.

Seeing as the game is already mostly in English, it wouldn't be that difficult to localize. And well, this is Bandai we're talking about.

True, I'll go ahead and order it anyways....what the hell.

I just received my copy of Lumines today. I've seen the thread about unlocking skins, but I have a question. Do I really have to start from scratch every time I lose? I thought there were like 50 some odd skins, is it even possible to do in one sitting?

If you lived here, in the SF Bay Area (it's in San Jose) or New York City area, you can go down to Users Side and pick it up for $40 (+tax).

If you can read Japanese, you can also order it off their website. I don't know if they ship to Canada. Maybe a friend in the states can pick it up for you?

They also have DS games. I picked up Driller DS w/promotional bag for $51. (4800yen, not a bad rate... compare that to Howie's or Network Video).

Last xmas I picked up Japanese Konga with their end of year 20% off sale for $52.

Their main branch is in Akihabara, so if you need something obscure or just isn't carried by others, try them. They'll special order stuff and have it within 2 weeks. (They send it along with their usual weekly shipments so there's no extra special order charge for you.) I've been very pleased with everything I've bought there.

awesome, thanks for the heads up Priz. quick question.... so basically do they rely on special orders for their games or do they usually have some in stock?

Well, they usually get in copies of most games... like the DS stuff, they got in 2-8 copies of most titles but sold out of this or that. The more stuff sells, the more room they have for other games... their PSP stuff might be cleaned out or maybe it's sitting there (as the systems are the hardest part to get) and they restock, so...

I'd say 30-40% of their business is special orders. That's mainly due to them getting some cool Japanese games that sell out quickly and they probably wouldn't sell too well if they restocked them, so... I think for stuff like Driller and Lumines and such, though... if they're out they'll probably get more in, but if they don't have it, make sure to tell an employee so they'll know there's an interest and order more. I made sure they ordered more Katamari Damashii so I could get it when it came out.

EDIT: My special order track record with them -
Katamari Damashii (to make sure after they sold out to get one)
Ore no Ryouri (the PS1 cooking game)
Combat Digi-Q accessories
Simple 2000 vol. 61 (the bikini-clad samurai cowgirl who kills zombies game)
DS Card Pod (that lighter shaped thing that holds 2 games) - they couldn't get this. I had 3 other people from Japan who were here for the holidays look for these for me and couldn't find them anywhere either.
Mr Driller DS - They were getting it in anyway, I just made sure to ask for one so I could get the bag it came with.

Good stuff and good prices.

Himeya is located somewhere in the east bay, near the 680-580 interchange. They used to be in Hayward. I like them too (not as much as Users Side) as even though their prices might be expensive for the cheaper stuff, their shipping and such rocks. Their parent company is Cs Ware, makers of Hentai games in Japan. They started out doing just english versions of their Hentai games and such and selling import Japanese H games for Windows.

Somehow they got into console stuff and now that's what they specialize in. I ordered a Japanese DVD remote for the xbox from them, for example. (none of the other import chains could get it at the time, and users side wasn't importing game stuff themselves yet.)

3800yen. $37. Shipping from their website office in Hayward to Santa Clara - $3 + $2 tax (something like that.)

When Himeya doesn't have something in stock, someone at the Japan office of the game company goes to a game store next to their office in Tokyo and buys the game and they ship it airmail from there direct to you.

The airmail shipping alone is $5-6 (for them)... so you can ask them too to special order something and if they can find it near their office, they'll get it for you. :)

By the way, I wouldn't place any bets on this not hitting the US of A.
NOA lists Bandai as bringing over Meteos themselves... I'm guessing they've greenlighted Lumines too? I'd really love if SCEA picked it up as a pack-in though. :)
