Yeah, this thread is dedicated to one of these typical childhood movies. I was 9 years old and absolutely thrilled when i saw the movie for the first time. they even used some real cgi effects which was a BIG thing for me :lol

some facts:

- TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES: $66,433,194 - Budget was $15,000,000
- Widest Release: 2,409 theaters
- Most of the scenes were shot in Australia: http://www.imdb.de/title/tt0113820/locations
- Directed by Brian Spicer (24)
- Austin St. John (Jason Lee Scott), Walter Jones (Zack Taylor) and Thuy Trang (Trini Kwan) were set to star in the movie, but plans fell through because of their salary dispute with the show.

tell me about your power rangers memories !

I own it on DVD. Enjoyable to watch every now and then for nostalgia's sake, but god that had to be the worst CGI in history.

I still watch the Power Rangers on a website that streams them. A bunch of people from that era sit in chat watching the stream, laughing and remembering those days. It's amazing how corny it is when you're older, but I still love it. :D

"Uh oh, we're in trouble, something's come along and it's bust our bubble"

For some reason, that song is about all I can remember about the movie. I do remember when I saw it I was home from school because I nearly broke one of my toes. I was eating jello and it was awesome.

"I am the sworn enemy of all that is good and decent!"

Power rangers villains are the inspiration for many video games.

..wtf it was corny when i was young. The only thing worth watching was goldaar beating the living shit out of them before they made the green one OP cheaterswordz. Other than that as i became close to my teen years i wanted to bang the pink ranger....i think the yellow rangers dead...

Shit, THAT'S why the movie was weird as a kid. I don't think I ever actively made the connection that the Red, Black, and Yellow Rangers weren't the same. Like, I'm sure I noticed but it was just weird.

I remember waiting in line for this movie and almost died choking on popcorn.

Totally worth it :D think I saw it 3 times in theaters.

Zordon is the shit.

back when being a kid was magical. I pity the kids of today, what do they have? Ben 10?

Also, I watched this so many times I lost count. My parents were troopers, and I cringe at thinking what my kids will drag me too:lol

I used to think the CG looked awesome, but then that was the point in my life where I thought CG > almost anything because of how SHINY it was. :lol

Again, Jason is the best and the movie suffers greatly without him

He should still have been the leader too

Fixed. Tommy had already taken over by the time he left.

Frickin' Tommy. Don't even get me started on how he upstaged the Dino Rangers team... It was kinda touching at first, one of the original Rangers taking on the Zordon role and passing the torch to a new team... Until he decided to become the broken (n+1)th ranger and hog the spotlight again.

I own it on DVD and think it's a solid movie for what it is. I really liked the upgrades they did to the costumes and I remember being so bummed out when they didn't use them in the show.

Same deal here. Not much older than five or six at least. Power Rangers kept being a guilty pleasure until I well and truly crossed the line over into adolescence (I can still sing the Power Rangers Original, Turbo, In Space and Light Speed Rescue theme songs from memory), but nothing beats the original for both nostalgia and quality. Of course, I can't watch more than five minutes of it now without squirming.

Meh, everyone knows that Tommy was the best ranger.
This

I even had his karate video, White Ranger Kata, where he was like some 5 stripe black dragon belt or some crap. Good times:lol

I thoroughly enjoyed this as a kid. I think I still have the toys in my house somewhere. NINJARZORDS!! PEWPEWPEW!

Tommy was a fucking Falcon, how cool is that?

I would like to send you a pamphlet from the Church of Tommy Oliver. He is the one true God and His actions cannot be understood by mere mortals.

Jesus, GAF, you have been making me feel old lately. I was like 16 when this movie came out.

I guess it's time to get a real job and stop farting around on a video game forum all day like I belong :(

The only movie I've seen twice in the theater on the same day.

What the hell was I thinking?

:lol me too, mainly because the theater was empty and we had nothing else to do. Not sure if we watched the whole 2nd run though.

Me and some friends watched this about two years ago. It's a lot worse than I remembered :lol

So cheesy. And that girl in the bikini was probably put in to make the fathers not be bored during the entire movie :lol

I remember as a kid thinking about how that made him such a terrible (in a good way) villain. "He got inside the cockpit?! They never get inside the cockpit!"

The Forever Red episode is so awesome.

Aside from getting back all the red rangers + Bulk and Skull, apparently Walter Jones (Zack) and Catherine Sutherland (the second pink ranger) voice two of the villains.

I'm pretty sure where you're from the Church of Tommy is banned

because Jason is a million times more awesome

Went to a party... weekend before last....

Got drunk... and we sung the entire theme song... while acting out fight scenes...

Yeah....

Friends didn't know there was an actual extended edition of the theme song.

My only issue with the movie... is that its unrelated to the TV show as they went through this same process differently afterwards.

Now mind you i was a mega fan once upon a time but i lost interest as soon as it wasn't the original anymore. But.... Jason and Tommy competed in a martial arts match and were found to be equals. So in fighting skills at least, equal. However Tommy was cooler.

Power Rangers jumped the shark when that little kid became the Blue Ranger (while magically growing to adult size when he transformed).

I remember that really annoyed me as a kid.:lol

This is freaky. I just watched the Nostalgia Critic's review of this movie a few hours ago, and now I see this thread on Gaf. I think the universe wants me to watch this movie again.

I bet it annoyed you for the same reason it annoyed all kids back then... you wanted to be him...

Once you realized you didn't have to be a teenager with attitude... you were pissed...

And nothing to do with the fact he grew a foot and a half when he morphed... and no one ever thought to explain it. :lol

Explanation is as follows: None of the actoers were actually the people in the suits, they hired second rate asian kung fu people to fill the role.
