Christian Svensson suggests we tweet Marvel for a Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 update

I know a some folks here like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 but don't visit the OT thread, so I'm posting this here; if you hate the game, cool - I'm not asking for anyone's support who wouldn't want to buy the game, I just want to be sure people know what's up:

Sven at Capcom USA has recently said that our voices have been heard at Capcom, but that he thinks that Marvel needs convincing. He suggested three Twitter accounts that need to receive some love:

@AgentM (Ryan Peganos)
@cbake76 (Chris Baker)
@MarvelBlip (Marvel Games, which seems to have connections to Chris Baker and others)

AgentM has responded to the numerous tweets he received:
https://twitter.com/AgentM/status/289834747251810304
https://twitter.com/AgentM/status/289836214540976130

I hate Twitter, but I've made an account just for occasions like these. It's quick, and it will help our chances of getting more content updates in the future. If this is something you care about, pitch in - it only takes a moment of your time.

I don't trust them to do the correct thing here.

I feel like, this case more than any other, it really shouldn't be up to us to have to convince your former business partner to allow you some further future use of the licence, especially when it's being slung literally everywhere at the moment off of the avengers/Summer Superhero movie buzz.

I like UmvsC3 as much as I hate it (which is a lot). But this crazy demand for a public outcry every time something new should come along is silly. The hardcore players, me included, will be all over a new update, but it's not going to sell gangbusters because they killed the goodwill they had build up with vanilla by releasing another disc version. And I know why they did it, there's nothing we can do about it now, but honestly, asking their fanbase to get excited NOW when there's been little to no feedback from Capcom about Marvel regarding ANYTHING...

::Sigh:: They're asking us to generate artificial hype (as silly as that sounds). Just fucking announce something and let the nature of things take it's course. God damnit Capcom...

Don't usually use my twitter for this stuff, but I will do this. More MvC[3] can only be a good thing, and if it is indeed a licensing thing, then people's cries won't be heard on SRK, they have to be sent to the dude's in charge, especially Chris Baker.

I'm still not convinced if it would be financially viable for Capcom, but I don't think you'd find anyone playing UMvC3 beyond it's first week that isn't craving more, be it a balance update or something more like AE.

Is Marvel really stopping them from nerfing or buffing characters, some busted assists, and maybe remove a few exploits? Game doesn't really need a sequel.

This. And seeing how they have dealt with fan "feedback" in the past like MML3, I have no faith or confidence here. Marvel really really needs at least some balance changes, but I can't imagine that ship hasn't already sailed at this point. Wasn't that team disbanded forever ago anyway?

Hey Chris, how about a "something other than goddamn Street Fighter and Resident Evil" update instead?

That said, how about some Cap characters that are more obscure? Billy from Gunsmoke or the chick from this Dreamcast board game they were going to put into TvC, for instance

Fans are tweeting for more female characters, yes? Or are they clamoring for more gameplay tweaks/modes instead?

Balance tweeks + More characters + More stages. A proper update like UmvsC3 was or like SFxT's bullshit was supposed to be.

It just wreaks of, "Damn baby, I know I burned you before, but I'm good for it this time! Really I swear!"

1 trip to SRK. That's all it'd take to figure out what people want. It's pretty much unequivocal at this point.

I don't know about sequels, but content updates like DLC colors, characters and balance changes can add to the experience.

I wonder if coming up with a hashtag or something would make difference, since I'm sure being able to point to something that managed to trend on twitter would be a good argument piece. That is, assuming if we could actually manage that.

I also wonder if this will end up having any real effect. We'll see, I guess.

I just finished doing my part.

Tweets have to be small, so I just asked for another ~20 characters. I would love for ~half of those to be female.

Heck, here's my most wanted character for the game:

No one knows the terms of the contract, but it's unlikely. However, Capcom is run by people who put money first, and that means a solo balance patch is very unlikely. The game doesn't "need" a sequel, but I would love for it to have an update.

To me, MvC3 is like the DotA of fighting games. DotA has over 100 heroes, and you could say "it doesn't need any more", but then it wouldn't be DotA. I want DotA to keep adding heroes forever just like I want MvC3 to, because most of what makes the game appealing is the team formation aspect, and new characters increase that appeal exponentially.

Probably just talking about roster additions. Which probably would require marvel's say so.

An update to an 8-month old game that was undercooked to begin with is also undercooked. Who wouldve thought from Capcom especially...

Okay maybe we're being a little harsh given how Marvel were at fault too, but yeah, this is Capcom.

It was undercooked, but the options were undercooked or no more food at all. It's like Bayonetta 2 to me. Am I glad it's Wii U exclusive? No. If it's between Wii U exclusive and not being made at all, and I glad it's Wii U exclusive then? Absolutely.

I have this game.....its still in plastic.
Open it up!

I bet they're really happy that Sven gave their Twitter names to the Marvel monsters. I bet he has a thousand ascii dicks, 200 stories about Daigo and Justin Wong having sex, and half a million "WHENS MARVEL?" tweets by now.

Anything regarding licensing can be done if there is enough money involved.

If Capcom wanted new characters that badly, it would license them from Marvel by cutting a big enough check.

I would honestly just be happy with an update that added Vita and PS3 crossplay. I know UMvC3 was a launch game, but Street Fighter X Tekken proves that it's possible.

Just remove Hidden Missiles from the game already.

From the way Sven worded that article it seems that they are prevented from updating (even balance patches) the game without Marvel's permission. That is pretty fucked up.

OH MY GOD YES. I would pay 40 dollars for that.

It's not that surprising. Ultimate Alliance 2 had the same problem, which caused entire packs of DLC to be taken off XBLA. To date, you simply cannot buy them anymore due to Marvel's refusal to uphold the licence.

I think that would require a retooling of the netcode and much of the core game, and is highly unlikely unless it's a full new iteration.

Or better yet they should give it to another character, nerf it accordingly and replace Doom's Hidden Missiles with Photon Shot. Doom already has 2 great assists.

I'm done with social media game wrangling BS.

If Capcom thinks it'll make money, do it. Otherwise don't.

If they want to make money off of another one then they are gonna have to give casuals a reason to play. That arcade mode was a really poor cut and paste of the last one and neither really had stellar payoffs at the end with the 3 page to 2 page endings that made no sense. If they added a story mode like MK did with cutscenes and moments across it then it'd give casuals who'd just get frustrated competing online something to look forward to doing. Throw in a challenge tower full of minigames and gimmicked matches and fully flesh out heroes and heralds for local an online and then chuck in an unlock library of comic book scans, art, animations, concepts, lore, costumes, and perhaps comics themselves to read and you have a game that would make money.

As is this game is purely for tourney folk and while its awesome in that respect its the smallest crowd out there to bank money on. If they do another Marvel they will have to expand its single player greatly because DLC doesn't really entice folks very much when they already aren't going to enjoy getting stuffed online by those who have been playing the series for 2.5 years. Besides DLC to make casuals competitive just comes off as antagonistic to them, to the tourney crowd, and breaks meta anyhow when good players abuse it to (cough cough GEMS cough cough).

If they pitch another Marvel they had better have learned their lesson about the market. Theres a ton of fighters out for folks to buy. You have to offer a lot more than characters to the public to dig through these days to make the purchase seem worthwhile.
so quit worrying about licenses and make a new game with nothing but Capcom characters

problem solved

Honestly, this is the best idea for them to back. They need to make themselves and their products more prominent. Why not make a game for it?

Photon shot would be a really good assist too though. Not hidden missiles, but good.
