Chrono Anniversary

Sup with all the Toriyama hate?

That is incorrect. The Skip guys were, and are infact, programmers and Kato continues to work with them. He is not doing freelance. He and the skip guys are working for Bungie on the Halo 2.5 sequel. Bungie recruited them about 6 months ago after seeing the work they did on FFXI.

Please do not type any more posts while stoned.

One thing, the only thing I've seen of Chrono Cross was a few minutes in the first dungeon so I saw what was probably one the simpler environments plus a few battles but I gotta tell you, game was ugly.

Chrono Trigger is one of the most polished 2D titles on the extremely mature 2D hardware of the SNES. Chrono Cross on the other hand is a 3D game on the extremely primitive PSX 3D hardware. Cross is completely crippled right out of the gate in this regard.

The only PSX Rpgs that age well in the visual department are the 2D ones, the 3D ones don't in any way.

I'm playing through Chrono Cross again simply because of this thread and personally, this is one of my favorite games ever. I like it better then Trigger. Must be the music or something.

Well, the backgrounds in Chrono Cross are 2D, so that's not too affected by hardware itself. As for the 3D graphics, I thought they were great, some of the best I've seen for the system actually...it must've pushed the PSX a lot in battles...it was neat how they seemed to cover up framedrops by adding a blur effect. Maybe I need to go back and play it again to see how it has truly aged, it's been a while. But even if it doesn't look great nowadays I can't imagine the game being 'ugly'. :P

Japanese companies tend to be really, really protective of their intellctual properties. Not that they aren't entitled to, of course.

If you have the chance, play CC through a PSX emulator. Its quite nice that way.

There's too much Toriyama hate here. That man has had so many successful series of his own, not to mention helping other series succeed (Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger for example.)

He's an awful "artist". He couldn't draw a character that doesn't look like something out of DBZ to save his life.

This is the most retarded shit I've ever read. Excuse the man for continuing with his own STYLE that is popular all over the world from Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, to Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. Toriyama's designs are some of the most recognizable in the wikd due to the success of HIS STYLE. You say this shit like he's copying someone else's shit.

For fucks sake people...

Ignore Zilch...I think he was just non-chalantly trolling :)

CC along with Valkyrie Profile is freaking hard to emulate.

I could have sworn I saw it. Maybe it was something else.

Vincent van Gogh is an aweful artist. He couldn't make a good painting to save his life. All that damn style of his is the same!
