Chuck Berry recorded little girls going to the bathroom. It feels like you're dismissing the fact that Chuck Berry actively exploited women and girls.

I have respect for the musical influence and legacy but as a human being Chuck Berry was a piece of shit.

I dont know why but I always thought it was people of age he recorded for some reason. Not discounting it I just find purchasing child porn to be worse than vouyerism but now that I know he recorded children I dont know what to think

Admittedly I know very little of his music but I know a bit about him and how long he has been around in music. Sadly I was just watching a documentary recently about musicians that passed last year and one of the interviewees noted how Chuck Berry would be hitting 90 soon at that point. Rest in peace.

Secondly, I realized that I have not actively listened to his songs so I checked him up on spotify and went through several songs and realized that, eventhough I did not know the songs by name, I recognized them from movies. Pretty much all the songs I played I knew from some movie..

But yeah, obviously the starting riff of Johnny B Goode is a classic and one of the best intros ever, of all time.

It's a little known secret. We've had Chuck Berry threads before and there's always a lot of people shocked when they find out about his dark side. I guess it all came out before the age of mass media and very few people seem to know about his history other than the music.

I have to imagine it's either people who weren't old enough when the story came out or missed it because it didn't make front page or stick around very long in the media.
