My city went through a real estate bubble bursting, land value plummeted even though it was still showing up as being highish (guess not good enough for citizens though) and most of my original residential area was abandoned along with some near by commercial and I started losing money as over a third of my population left the city since people were leaving anyway I took the opportunity to do some rezoning and upgrading/tweaking my roads. After I was done it rebounded strongly. I put greater separation between my residential and commercial with a buffer of trees to keep down some of the noise pollution. I also tinkered with my industry, haven't really paid a ton of attention but I think I've lowered traffic a fair bit by moving the train cargo depot further north onto a one way loop off the highway and then back on at the end.
Speaking of industry I think they need to add a high tech level that would attract higher educated people unless that's what happens when industry levels up.
Also, it took me way too long to realize this but, I had put down four landfills to keep up with the trash and eventually an incinerator with each of them because I was thinking trash was going to landfills and then to the incinerator and it still seems they prioritize the landfill so I figured that's how it worked. Well I'm an idiot because I finally actually looked at the trash info for my landfills and incinerators I saw I was misreading the maximum capacity (they need to add commas IMO) and they were all way below it because it was getting divided between like 10 places to dump trash with my four landfills and five or six incinerators I had running. Sooo after realizing this I've been emptying the landfills, I have one left to bulldoze and I'll just be using incinerators exclusively. How long does pollution from landfills stick around? I imagine it works the same way with cemeteries and crematoriums so I'm going to be removing my cemeteries too.
figured out why I had traffic problems... one of my 1 way roads weren't being used because I put it on backwards :/
I feel like some of these tools could be better.
Yeah, it would be nice if there was a tool to just flip a one way road instead of having to redo it, it's a pain sometimes when making a long one with no guide.
