What are good ways to get industrial buildings to level up? And I noticed the specialized industrial buildings don't have the bar to how leveled they are, can those level up or can only the non specialized industries level up.

specialized industry don't level up. If you want your regular industry to level up, you gotta educate your work force as much as you can. At level 3, 12 of the 24 jobs a 4x4 factory has are for highly educated people.

Do Ore/Oil deposits eventually dry up? This used to be a pure blue ore specialization, now it almost looks like fertile land.

I0M5snH.jpg
Yes, they do eventually.

Can I assume it is converted to fertile land due to the color? I will switch it to a farming specialization unless I am assuming incorrectly.

I have wanted to expand north across the highway for some more ore, along with some oil and forestry resources as well, but this would mean reconfiguring my entire highway.

Still without luck
I think that if you have a part of the residential area getting sick, they begin infecting other parts too, but I'm not sure :/

ok got it. i had a stray water tower in the industry area that was ruining the water :<

rip 300/2600 people

Just treat them like residential, healthcare/deathcare/leisure/police/schools/
public transport
<- a bit unsure about this, I'm quite sure ihave gotten max lvl industry before putting up any public transport.

In short: Give them everything.

Off topic, this game is starting to get expensive, already had to get new Windows and now I'm || this close to marching to a store and getting 4690K/board/ram/cooler. I guess I'm fine with 600W psu (Zalman ZM600-HP) since 750Ti isn't that much of a power hog?
So that is 600€ + what the game was. T_T

After a lot of trial and error and playing around I started a new city and think I got it right this time... at least for now.

Presenting Deloria: (Taken right before hitting 15,000)
I separated the industrial from the residential and have all commercial grouped together. Residential is separated into two parts connected by bridges. The commercial and industrial are connected via an experimental onramp/offramp combination that seems to be working. All zones are "Ban high traffic". And the best part, my garbage dumps are segregated in one place connected directly to the main residential section via a dirt road rather than the highway. I'm about to replace the windmills with two or three solar plants (When I get to 19,000) and the sewage drain with the purification plant. The George Carlin Memoral University (The character limit was one less than I needed) has its own neat little one way road entrance so it looks fancy. And I have both subways and bus companies with three or four lines each which do different routes. (I love how the busses get colored to match the line they belong to. That's awesome.)

Crossing my fingers things keep going well.

Are you pumping up sewage into the water supply? Do you have industry in the middle of your neighbourhoods? Are you incinerating garbage next to some houses?

Made that mistake once quickly placed a garbage incinerator instead of a crematorium.

Tip for starter use unlimited money mod and play around with roads and see which road combo don't create traffic lights

Plop a freight train station next to your industry and provide good services and they'll start leveling to level 3.

Basically as I understand it if your source rode is a 4-lane or higher and you pull a 2-lane off of it it won't create lights.

However, if you build a 2-lane INTO a 4-lane or higher, it will create lights.

All 4-lane and higher combos will also create lights.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this, has their PC locked up/BSOD'd while playing (once it just locked up, needed hard reset, other BSOD'd)? It happened to me twice, but if I go play any other game for extended time it doesn't happen. :S

Wait. What happened to your old Windows? What CPU do you have now?

Does anyone have a screenshot of their ground pollution that's brown? Mine is still definitely purple and I want to compare the difference. Makes me wonder if I have the old traffic as well

Maybe the pollution view was purple and it was changed to brown? I have been wondering about that also.

I'm sitting here at work thinking about civil engineering and traffic flow instead of actually working. Goddamnit, this game has me in its grip.

Steam workshop noob here. Subscribed a few stuff like the elevated roundabout park but I didn't see it in my current game. Does my town need to develop a little larger for it to unlock or I need to create a new game?

I think you need to turn them on from the mods menu. Or you have to unlock some of them, not sure. Haven't used any of those mods yet, only a few maps and the color correction mod. Those I know you had to turn on from the menu.

Me being an idiot, I waited way to long to get new land and expand my city out of the initial box. I was like why is my city dying. Oh, this isn't sim city, I have to buy more land. LOL

Decided to start up the game at around 11pm yesterday just to try out this idea I had for fixing one of my more troubled highway junctions. Next time I checked my watch it was 3:15. I started at work today at 8. This is going to be a fun day.

Can't wait for finals to be over next week. Seeing all the different cities and things that you can do with this game is making really want to play this game right now! Must have self control....ahhhhhh

Just a little something I just threw together. I love how this turned out. I even threw some shops in there to make it even more awesome. If this game had a preschool building, I'd put it right next to it. It'd be perfect.

As far as I know, the actual ground pollution was changed from purple to brown. Not just the pollution view.
Not patched in yet. It's brown for some depending on the colour correction filter or the map's natural lighting (a mix of both) that makes it come out "brownish" for some.

Its a pitty it is not possible to build a european style city =/

Maybe it will come as DLCs, I think that's something this sort of game would go for in terms of DLC. Such as architectural styles.

I'm surprised there isn't any by default in the design because the developers are Finnish.

I may have the weirdest of questions ever.

I live in Rome, a city that in the last couple thousands years grew without a proper urban planning, especially in the last decades, when developers basically took over suburbs building random huge ass neighborhoods without services or proper transport links.

So, except what I saw abroad or in photos, of some virtuous cities all over the world, I don't know jack shit about how to plan a modern city.

And I was wondering: is there some kind of, you know, tutorial? Best practices? How to put down a functional zone grid?
Like, some sort of guide saying yeah ring roads are better than squared blocks because reasons.

I'd love to read something about this matter without the need to attend a five years degree in civil engineering. :D

you might have to anyway @_@

I don't think playing 5 years of C:S would convert in university time, though. :D

But, if I add all the time I spent playing every single SimCity from the SNES port to 4, plus Cities in Motion 2 and... and... and... well I guess I'm definitely entitled to a degree!

Finally, some sort of fix for the terrible antialiasing. Mmmmmm, Supersampling mod.

Dynamic Resolution

I get like 25 fps on at the max resolution ( >4k ) on a 780ti, but boy is it purdy.

Doesn't 100% fix aliasing, but still way, way better than running at native res. The in-game AA really doesn't make any appreciable improvement on the jaggies from what I could tell, so until someone figures out (or CO patches in) some better AA filters, this seems like the best option for those that can run it.

YESSSSS

Public transport is kicking my ass. I only have a 3.2k pop town and my bus depot sends out like 35 buses at a time and it's clogging my streets up bad. I've redone my bus lines a few times after reading some stuff online and that hasn't helped either.

Is it worth it to keep the bus depot around? Will lowering my budget send out fewer buses?

Their community manager said this on reddit when asked about DLC:
Yup, actually quite a large amount too. We're going with an expansion policy similar to CK2/EUIV where we bundle free content and updates with larger paid expansions. For example our first non--bug-fixing update to the game will be free tunnels and European wall-to-wall buildings. :)

Two things that Colossal Order sacrificed from the release version of the game in order to get it finished and on the store in a timely, QA-tested fashion: tunnels and a European buildings reskin. The devs have mentioned numerous times that they're both being worked on extensively and the intention is for them to be released as free content in the first big version update.

EDIT: oh oops, I see diggmc mentioned it a few minutes ago

As have I lol. I've redone mine a few times and every time they have ended up as a huge pile of shit.

lol

Might as well do a couple of extra metro stations and keep the bus bullshit out of my city

Also, just reached 20k wich is a record for me...weird thing is that citizens keep on asking for WAY too many offices, 3/4 of my city is an office conglomerate :(

Yes, lowering the budget will send out fewer buses. I'd try that before giving up on buses as they lower amount of cars on the road by quite a bit.

Thanks for subscribing !
My Elevated Pedestrian Roundabout uses highway roads with soundbarriers, which unlocks near 5000 inhabitants. You can find it in the Roads panel, then Intersections subpanel (for now, downloaded assets don't have thumbnails).

All assets are enabled by default ingame, note that if you are already in a map and added some Workshop content, you juste need to go back to the main menu and reload your save (you don't need to restart your game, only the map).

Mods are not enabled and you have to do it yourself in the Content Manager in the main menu (note that they disable achievements).

I have made a fuckin mess with my Buss lines, i can't find a way to close it lol

The annoying part is that you can't easily delete lines and if you are like me and like to create overlapping lines. Well, let's just say that once one has to be remade/tweaked I might aswell remake/tweak all of them.

Off topic:
Caved in and rejoined the master race, got myself a 4690K. *bank balance sobbing in the background*

Go to the transport info panel. (top left icons). When you are in the transport info view, click on a line. You will then see the option to delete it.

How can i have the "a dead person is waiting for transport" message if i have a metro station a few yards away?

That means you didn't have someone from the cemetery or the crematorium come pick up the corpse. Build one if you haven't yet, or build more, or fix your traffic.

And now you made me remember that there is a delete line button if I just choose a buss/metro, silly me.

Just remember to spread the cemeteries/crematoriums around the city and you should be fine.
