Civilization 6 announced, out October 21st

Sorry if been discussed. Is it worth it to get the deluxe at full price or itll be cheaper to get the discounted base game from Amazon/best buy then buy the dlc down the road? All I care about is the dlc.

Not yet, but I'm expecting 10AM PST, as is typicla on Steam. Hopefulyl we'll get a midnight on Thursday release instead though!

what's the time diff between ET and PT? I use ET because it's just 12 hour difference in my timezone

Just buy the discounted base game for now I would say.

Being a Civ game there is always going to be lots of DLC down the road.

PC is completely borked. And really dislike using Parallels / Fusion for desktop virtualization purposes.

Can't really tell about the Mac version. Just iffy, "It'll come soon" type messaging. Bummer.

I really can't wait for this.

RPS has been doing some fun articles on their playthrough, and the writeup over at Polygon poked all of the right buttons, even if the pre-reviewer wasn't frothing for it, the positive stuff was the kind of things I want to hear.

Now I'm just waiting to find out when it unlocks, so I know if I can sleep in or if I should get up early to get the download rolling when I'm at work.

Friday people. In four days we will be playing Civilization 6! I've already told my girlfriend that Friday night I want to be left alone, LOL!

Here's to hoping I can win in anyway other than using military might. I may be too stupid to do the other ones, but every time I try I either get crushed by the AI (on the easiest mode)- those backstabbing bastards!- or unintentionally ending up with a military win.
Heck, a couple of times I had all parts of a space shuttle- and all located in and around one city- and couldn't figure out hot to launch the damn thing...

My Amazon order for the Anniversay edition still hadn't updated.

I just live chatted with Amazon. The guy really didn't understand what I was asking, but to get rid of me, he upgraded me to one-day shipping at no cost.

Now my order says guaranteed arrival for Friday.

Looks like pre-load is live. Midnight launch, too! Friday at work will now suck even more.

Wait, the pre-load is live now? And what do you mean midnight launch, certainly you aren’t saying the game is live and playable at 12:01 AM Friday morning, are you?

If so, I just might be getting “sick” Friday morning….

I dunno. My problem with preloading is it takes forever to unpack, you might as well just download the game when it comes out.

Link.

Sorry, on mobile and slow. Looks like thats what it says? Depends on where you live, I guess.

If it's like other midnight releases it will be 12AM EST, and 9PM PST. So those of us in the west coast will be able to play it on Thursday.

Really, I don't know what I'm going to do. Battlefield and Civilization are two of my favorite series... And both come in the same day!!!!

It will gonna be a long friday on work...

Something about Civ trailers and theme music make me feel, for however short a period, that humanity is pretty damned awesome. Which I suppose is true, if hard to keep in perspective.

So the guy spends the entire game warring until he eventually falls apart in the modern age while the girl sits in a corner and develops peacefully until she wins a space victory.

Most accurate depiction of Civ yet!

You are the best. I've been laughing and laughing....

so weird that they survive without aging but you could kill them

RIP in peaces Civ Bean, I guess this explains why he's a ghost in the game, also apparently his wife is the advisor girl

I almost always do tech or cultural victory. I've played some more warlike games over the three Civs I've played, but my experience of war is usually being invaded by huge stacks of death and using superior but fewer units, well developed cities with strong defenses, etc. to (hopefully) stem the tide and then counter attack to force peace. War is only an excess for the post game when I have nothing to build but armies and it usually gets boring pretty fast. Also done late game policing actions to box in an uppity rival and protect weak disunited, now indebted opposition.

That said, I've had some fun with earlier wars when I did do them. It is just rare that I'm situated near a civilization I want the land and cities of that bad. I tend to expand aggressively to establish the borders I want, not necessarily in city number but placement. Moreover cities full of disloyal, unhappy citizens on top of increased maintenance costs are not fun.

Doesn't help I play on huge maps.

I also chatted with Amazon and the rep said that it was scheduled for Friday delivery - the notification should "be updated in a few days." Take that as you will.

Note - This is the Anniversary Edition and I reserved in the first wave.

Where is the best deal for this game?

GMG has keys out now for pre-load and is 20% off the game. so 47.99/63.99 respectively.

I think Amazon Prime members and Best Buy Gamers Club have the same deal, but for physical standard edition only.

Eh if GMG is the same price I'd prolly just go GCU to get some extra best buy points.

That launch trailer is amazing. I remember I asked where the main theme was and someone said it'd probably be in the launch trailer - that definitely sounded like it.

Christopher Tin is a god.

I got a little bit dissapointed with that trailer, I expected more of a celebration of mankind instead of just a trip through the ages.

Not seeing the 20% off on GMG...

They changed their system recently from codes to membership deals, so it might require you to be a member first with some previous purchases in order to be in effect. But I'm not totally sure since I never really paid attention to the details of it.

As well it is not advertised on the game's store page, but the discount will appear once you add it to your shopping cart assuming you are logged in.

Ah, it's the second one; I was already a member, but I didn't see the discount until I stuck it in my cart.

Now, deluxe or regular... I want the additional civs, but they'll probably be bundled with the next expansion (or on super sale at some point).

I pretty much always go into a new game very open ended, and my strategy develops very much depending on things like starting conditions and who all is around me and what their temperament is. If I start on a crowded landmass with lots of competition for land then I’ll go to early war to cut out a good spot for myself. If I am left alone and happy with my cities then I’ll be more peaceful and either go culture or tech victory. If I end up late game with not enough resources I’ll go to war to get some. Or if I end up way ahead in tech and military and am feeling rather bloodthirsty I’ll attack the planet and commit mass genocide.

I’m a very fluid ruler!

I think I’m buying from GMG tonight for the 20% off, preloading, and calling in sick Friday. That sounds like a wonderful plan.

Oh FFS I didn't know you had to put the damn thing in the cart to see the deal. =P

Thank you!
