Clairvoyance - Cutest Robot Chess Deathmatch EVER

Was at a friend's house trying to convince him to buy the game. We went to the activity button the official page, and he followed a link to a match. Turned out to be a Wok vs Toma match... very intense one... he was really into it. Hopefully he follows through with the purchase.

Hey wok, we are being used as advertisement for the game ;)

Damnit! Almost got to the 4th rank, but I am pretty sure I'll lose the next match badly :( The opponent is up 3:1.

Ha!

Grah, sometimes this game makes you feel really stupid. I was triple guessing my enemy move and made the most elaborate scheme, only to realize he went for the straight forward route to bite my ass. Derp.

Dumb moves and brilliant moves seem to work out, usually. It's the clever moves that get you in trouble.

I think the fighting game community would love this. It's all head games.

I just noticed that I'd love to try a straight forward drill mechanic and to see how that affects gameplay and tactics.
Or maybe something like super moves, for which you need to "waste" an action 3 turns in a row and then you can throw a bomb 1 space farther than usually or jump 1 space higher.
Or how about a random map with random features like "no turning left allowed" and "dashes are now 1 step farther".
Other ideas?

Aaaaah. I just have been randomly invited by the #1 ranked player to a match.

Wish me luck guys.

Holeeee crap. I just saw the first turn play out in the match against the currently best ranked player. This is the setup now before turn 2:

Yes, I damaged 3 of his units in the first turn. 1 with a laser shot, the other 2 with bombs.

:-o

Now only to think about how to get my units out of there safely..

He cannot get to C at least. I would bomb the second row with D, climb on the bomb and escape through the small space in the wall in the middle of the map.

Haha! I swear I didnt read your message before, but thats exactly what I ended up doing :) Maybe we think too much alike to play each other ;p

He, expectedly, managed to get a hit on C, but still looking good so far. Although it sucks a bit that most of my robots are standing with the backs towards the opponent.

Hey, wok. Before I forget. What does FR stand for?

France. It is a temporary face for my robot, while I try to think of a better idea.

I swear, in regard to how our moves go together you are the MOST unlucky person I play against. Playing against you makes me feel ... clairvoyant :P

It is incredible how you can read my most random moves.

I find it incredible that I got 4 points for that win, but if I lost, I would have probably lost between 30-35 >_> Yikes. Yay Elo.

Ouch. It went pretty well for you wok, but that last move was quite damning.

Haha, congrats wok! My first tie :) Although we both made a stupid mistake at the end there by not realizing that the other one can reach that spot 3 tiles away.

This game is fun, first game was a loss, but I'm learning.

electricpirate on the servers, come at me if you want some free ELO points ;).
There is no such things free ELO points here. Even a beginner can win unexpectedly here sometimes. ;)

haha, true. You did whup me handily though.

This one was a nice comeback victory though, I got down 2-4 at one point, but managed to hold it together and pull a comeback victory.

I felt like a fortune teller at the end though, I made a gamble that he wouldn't grenade passage, and instead go directly on the offensive. I really like the move mechanic, because it really blunts the advantage of an early lucky play.

Whether or not this game gets big, the immediate replay feature that seems to be archived everywhere is amazing. Just fun to see some of your matches.

Bump of justice!

Was gifted the game by my friends, I'm loving it. Toma destroyed me as expected, but I did manage to pile THREE grenades on top of one of his guys on the last turn. That one is not coming back :D.

But that dude managed to heal his friend in his last act of self-sacrificing bravery after he took care of your last 2 units ;p

I'd say he served his country well *salutes*

Anyone want to play a match in the near future?

Also, Toma, we should absolutely play a game of Frozen Synapse sometime.

Sure :) Anytime. If you want a match, I'd prefer playing on the Texas server though, because my ranking is too high which means I lose points even if winning games. Really annoying.

Anyway, I should be on the Texas server too, invite me there if you want ;)

Oh and feel free to invite me in Clairvoyance too.

Well, it won't be today since I will probably have to attend my birthday party later today, but I'll see if I can find you online in the weekend. You're under 'Toma' in both games?

Toma or TomaLexi. One of them. If there are both, in doubt the one with the higher ranking ;p

True that. :)

This was my second game; I think it's worth sharing:

I managed to win, even though at some point it was three of them against one of mine. I have no experience with Clairvoyance yet, so I'm going to assume these kinds of reversals are actually common, which is awesome.

This game is awesome.
