Clearing the game backlog

So I'm working through my backlog of games furiously. I've finished up a ton of stuff on the PS2 side of things (although I have a ton to go: DMC3, ZOE2, GT4, MGS3, DQ8) and all I have left on X-Box is Halo2 and what I believe is the last 10 minutes of so of Ninja Gaiden.. The Cube on the otherhand had a buttload of unfinished stuff.

So my Gamecube's been getting some love lately. Finished RE4 and ZWW and am about 15% into MP1. At first I was turned off by it's controls but it's grown on me. Does MP1 continue to get better and is MP2 better than MP1? After the Metroids I'll move on to Tales of Symphonia, Pikmin2, and RE0. Anything else on the Cube I should pick up?

Anyone else trying to clean up his/her backlog of games before the new systems hit?
If so, what are you working on right now?

*edit*
Damnit, God of War is sitting on top of the PSX. I forogt I opened it and watched then intro then put it awa... /me adds God of War to PS2 game list.

GC: TOZ: TWW (cant seem to finish it), SMS (same reason), Paper Mario2 (just started)
PS2: God of War (over half way through and my ps2 breaks on me... will be sent in for repairs)
Xbox: KOTOR1 (cant seem to finish it)

i'm hitting my backlog right now. ninja gaiden will be finished by tonight. i swear (chapter 14)

Just do what I do. If a game looks interesting to you, buy it. Then you can take comfort in the fact that if you wanted to play it. You could. Then you don't even have to play it, it's fucking great.

ive been hitting my backlog as well.

playing online:
halo 2 - went back to it after a couple of months, addicting as fuck
unreal championship 2 - finally getting tired of it, phasing it out
burnout 3 - finally getting tired of it, phasing it out
splinter cell: CT - finally getting tired of it, phasing it out

offline:
KOTOR 2

coming soon:
ghost recon 2

I try to tell myself that, but it never works ;__;.

Right now my backlog is somewhere around a hundred games, although I could probably cut that in half if I just went through the ones I REALLY wanted to go through.

What are you talking about, list threads are great. It's like a conversation where everyone has something to say, but nobody cares to listen or read anyone else's list. It's like watching the news, kinda.

hmm your right. that does sound great!

I'm slogging through Sly 1 so I can pick up Sly 2 this weekend.
I'm also finally finishing up Klonoa 2!

I just finished FFX this year. Kinda sad, considering i'm a big RPG fan (atleast back in the ol' days).

MP1 gets better, trust me. Haven't tried 2 yet.

Playing MP1 right now and it's starting to rock. Not to RE4 levels, but it's starting to get interesting... It's sorta weird because it sorta feels like a Nintendo game but not really if you know what I mean.

ALso, I gave up on FFX because by playing normally and fighting baddies and not running away, but also not midlessly leveling up I'm unable to beat the last couple of parts of the game.... :-( wtf is up with that?

Playing thought Metroid Prime 1 (at 35% now) on GC and Fire Emblem on GBA. I'm also progressing though FFX at a slow pace. The rest of my games will have to wait for a while, at least until I finish MP or FE.

I can't clear backlogs. I give up. I have about 4-5 games going, that I'm enjoying and I'll push them all aside for GTA this evening (even though I've played the PS2 version). Hopeless.

Maybe I should pick MP1 back up. I bought it a few months ago... played for 2 hours ... never touched it again.
You definitely should. I've loved every Metroid game, but Prime even took me a while to get into. Give it some time (force yourself to play) and you'll get hooked.

Anyways, I have a backlog of about about 15 games I haven't even touched (not including games I haven't finished). I just keep playing other games. I'm thinking about actually deleting all of my old saved games to motivate me to play something else (which I probably should have done a while ago - there's no point in keeping a 700kb Mark of Kri save when I haven't played the game in two years).

I am down to James Bond: Everything or Nothing on X-Box...

I beat Star Wars: Episode III using unlimited force/health because I found the game very boring and repetitive...

I will not buy another game from this generation, I am waiting on X-Box 360 and PS3...

LOL! I couldn't agree more.

I'm currently tackling:
RE4 (GC)
Shenmue 2 (Xbox)
Metroid Prime (GC)
Primal (PS2)
Half-Life 2 (PC)

Just recently knocked off MGS3 (excellent!) and ZOE2, which I thought was overrated. Most unlistenable voice acting in a game? Probably.

After reading some of these lists, I don't feel so bad anymore.

My main problem is World of Warcraft - I can't get anything done with this game installed on my box.

I've got to finish

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Jade Empire
Psychonauts

and today I added to the list

GTA: San Andreas (Xbox)

Backlogged that I plan to finnish:

Crimson Skies
Ninja Gaiden
Riddick
Killzone
Mercenaries

Current games just being played the hell out of:
Forza
RSC2
GT4
Flatout

Wow, PlayStation 3 work must killing you poor guys, so much time to play games... oh wait :P.

J/K man ;).

My backlog stretches back seemingly forever. I generally seem to do a pretty good job of getting caught up between generations, though...just don't buy any new consoles until you're pretty happy where you're at with all your current-gen games. :D

My backlog is getting smaller and smaller.
With the not so many hot games coming out this year, i may just be able to kill it.
Last year i was 20-25 games behind and now i'm somewhat 10.

I'm finished with RE4 for now (though I'll most likely play the game again on another date) and I am plowing through Minish Cap. After that, Metroid Prime 2 and I can FINALLY start buying some new games.

EDIT - wait, I got that Harvest Moon I should put some time into.

What he said. And I probably play games on an average of 2-6 hours per day, but still, I think the backlog goes over a hundred. I will get to them all, though.

I hear you! Who said being an adult waas cool. I get all sorts of cool toys but no time to play with them. I mainly grab stuff just to have it in my collection. I will get around to playing it sometime. I always have half a dozen games I'm working on. The summer is really difficult because there's lot's of stuff to do outdoors. I always take off the last two weeks of the year to polish off some games. It's been my tradition for the past 7 years.

Fortunately, I'm waiting for Revolution so it'll be about 16 months to clear out a backlog of GC and GBA. There's about three dozen GC and GBA games I want to get also. The ones I have right now...

Game Cube

Skies of Arcadia Legends - I'm 30 hours into the game. I'm about ready to go to the Silver Moon moon location. Awesome game. I'm hoping to finish this bad boy by the end of the week. I noticed I never put in the effort like I did with the DC version. I used to find all the discoveries, explore every nook and cranny of the levels, etc. Now its just kind of straight through play. Oh well.

Paper Mario 2 - Got past the first battle, got the girl Goomba and saved. Haven't moved on. I'll play this after beating Skies Legends.

Zelda 4 Pack - Got it from EB (Even though it can't be resold) and just messed around and got to the first dungeon. Beating all four of these games will be the third thing I bother with.

Ikaruga - Just a quickie but I would like to unlock everything in the game.

Harvest Moon - Haven't touched it yet. I don't even know if the disc even works (usually I pop it in once to see if it works).

Game Boy Advance

Fire Emblem 8 - Stuck at Stage 13 for Ephraim. Going to restart the game entirely because I fucked myself by losing too many characters and being underpowered. Will get around to beating it again before getting the GC version.

PlayStation Portable

Ridge Racer - At Stage 10. Will I ever get around to beating it? Maybe. Odds are that I'll never finish the game. Its an awesome game but not that awesome. I prefer consoles to handhelds so they'll always get priority.

Lumines - Someday I'd like to get all the skins. Got 300k for a score and at Level 88 I think. Almost there. Haven't played it in two months according to the PSP save file.

Hot Shots Golf Open Tee - One star away from moving up to Silver. I need to collect all the shit in Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Its a good game so I imagine I will eventually get around to getting all the items.

I agree, not enough time.

I play games every day for at least 30 minutes (train commute to and from work is 30 minutes total). I usually squeeze in another 30 minutes before sleep every day :D

woot, just beat ninja gaiden. damn that ending was weak. maying it's cause i played it on normal, but the last 3 levels were easy!

time to play this game on hard.
