Clouds were white back in my day
I mean, even if we "got over" his racist shit. What does Clint say in defense of Trump disparaging veterans the the military. His boneheaded policies? His shitty business practices?
When I grew up, those things werent called racist.
He does say that Trump has said a lot of stupid things.
While I don't condone his point of view, I pretty much agree with this. There will come a time when the people getting worked up about this are the ones being castigated for their views by a younger generation.I find it hard to get worked up about things older people say when they're not politicians. Things were just different back then. We'll all be out of touch one day too.
So because of his social stance his movies are no longer good? You know it is possible to still enjoy his movies and disagree with his opinion. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
A lot of people I'm America consider being racist dropping n bombs and being a member of the Klan, extremes, I think what he is saying is, almost everything and anything can be considered racist now adays. Things that the American public have zero clue about. That's why everyone thinks the world is too "PC"
In today's standards I want to say a good 50% of people are racist and just don't realize it.
He added, You know, hes a racist now because hes talked about this judge. And yeah, its a dumb thing to say. I mean, to predicate your opinion on the fact that the guy was born to Mexican parents or something. Hes said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody the press and everybodys going, Oh, well, thats racist, and theyre making a big hoodoo out of it. Just fking get over it. Its a sad time in history.
"Were really in a pussy generation. Everybodys walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things werent called racist.
Yeah, things were pretty great for white people back in the 60s who wanted to dump on anyone and everything without any repercussions.
So?
The loss of privilege is not an attack on whiteness. It's not "soft" to aspire to be better than the Jim Crow South.
People grow old to the right i guess
Pretty much. The problem is if you tell old people this they will get pissed. While I don't condone his point of view, I pretty much agree with this. There will come a time when the people getting worked up about this are the ones being castigated for their views by a younger generation.
Instead of getting annoyed about it I prefer to look at it as a sign of progress. We are a product of our time, whether we like it or not.
What the fuck happened to Eastwood? He used to be cool. Now he's just a GOP shill. When you grew up it was still racist Eastwood, why do you think all that civil rights shit happened?
Did he?
He's an excellent actor. It's all make believe in front of the camera. It's kind of like how Leonardo Dicapreo can play a racist slave owner but not feel that way in real life. But the opposite.I like Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino Clint Eastwood. He's a cranky old bastard, but he learns valuable lessons about racism, sexism, friendship, and human rights. So why didn't any of that stick?
I generally always give old people a pass. Not that I am giving his statements a pass, just the person saying them.Never knew Clint was like that, always the possibility being that old. What a dick.
Expected nothing less then. Eastwood and Trump are made for eachother. From the Director of American Sniper, ya'll.
This is the best justification for racism I have ever seen. 'Hey! We were always racist!'. Simply amazing. That anyone could say that sentence and not immediately see how wrong it is is beyond hilarious. In fact, Eastwood said, Were really in a pussy generation. Everybodys walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things werent called racist.
Let's put this in perspective: Clint Eastwood is an 86 year old, immensely wealthy white man. He was already in his 30's by the time the Civil Rights movement really took off.
