COD 4 Beta Thread

Wish I could give you guys some answers on how this is all working, but I'm out of town this week - really out of the loop on how its going down

If I get any details I'll let you all know.

As for linking gamertags: unlikely. I wouldn't stress about it. I believe your login email address will only be used to send the token email to.

Ok so we dont have to stalk enter now button?

Questions are a legality thing, so I wouldn't expect them to be difficult at all. If you're familiar with the game at all you should be okay. If not, a quick 2 minute search around CharlieOscarDelta.com should set you straight. I haven't seen the questions myself, but I'm told they'll be easy.

I'd keep an eye on the front page of CharlieOscarDelta and on the Public Beta forum for any updates - stickied posts like Frustrum's. Again, I have NO info regarding this, just what I'm assuming.

PLEASE GET ME IN DUDE. cod2 was one of my most played games!

If I could I'd get all the GAF COD fans in, but we were only allowed a few tokens to hand out, sorry :(

Someone just post the answers here if they're actually real questions. I was thinking they were gonna be stupid questions to make sure you're a human being, like a simple math question.

Yeah, I'm up for a GAF groupthink.

Get me in there! :P

I just got done playing the beta for a few hours straight (yes, it's THAT addictive). It's probably the smoothest beta I've ever played, but I'm not saying any more than that :D

Mind if I ask what the total playercount online was? I'm stuck without my 360 and am dying to know how many people have gotten on so far.

Any info regarding Canadians and the beta? I keep hearing US only.

I'm missing Superbad tonight so I can (try to) register, needless to say the girlfriend isn't too pleased.

Around 45 people are online right now (which is the most I've seen online all day). There are fewer than 100 people in the beta right now I'm assuming.

For those of you already in the Beta
bastids! :P
, fourzerotwo just posted a few tips on the COD4 Beta forum.

We're slowly creeping up on that beautiful thing we call Public Beta, and with every step and every new wave that is let in we're going to be seeing a lot more talk on the boards regarding tactics, tips, and personal experiences playing it.

I wanted to just throw out a few helpful hints to keep in mind when playing the beta.

The Beta is currently capped at Rank level 11. Which means you can only ran k up to Sgt. I in the Beta and use all attachments, weapons, and perks available to that rank. We'll gradually be raising the Rank cap throughout the beta to help us test more and more, this really helps us focus testing on certain areas and aspects at a time. So just so you're not caught off guard when the time comes to hit the field.

Second, remember staying a live is crucial in any game, but staying alive, and making sure others don't, is KEY in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as you'll be rewarded for kill streaks you get during multiplayer matches each spawn.

So say, you get 3 Kills without dying, you'll have the ability to call in a UAV Recon (Radar), 5 kills without dying you can call in an Airstrike, and 7 kills without dying you can call in Helicopter support.

Once any of these are unlocked, the symbol for that reward will appear in the lower-center of your HUD next to a D-pad icon. You will notice the icon for the reward you have available will be next to the Right D-pad button. This means that you can activate this reward by hitting the Right D-Pad.

UAV Recon (Radar) will activate automatically upon pressing Right D-pad and will scan the Mini-map every second or so for a duration of 30 seconds revealing enemy locations.

Airstrike - Hitting the right D-pad will pull up a larger version of the entire map and allows you a cross hair to designate where on the map the airstrike should focus. This is great when used in cooperation with a teammate's UAV Recon (Radar) for the best strike position.

Helictoper is automatic as well. Just hit Right on the D-pad when you have Helicopter support available and a gunship will come in, strafe the battlefield looking for targets and fire on them when sighted. You don't have to control it, just let the pilot and gunner do their thing as you continue the fight on the ground. Beware though, enemy helicopters can be shot down by enemy fire but will also eventually leave after a bit.

As you can tell the D-pad plays a pretty vital role in Multiplayer, allowing you access to your Kill Streak Rewards (right on d-pad), as well as your Night Vision (up on D-pad), and lastly your Perk 1 slot bonuses such as C-4, RPG's, and even your M203 Grenade Launcher if attached via Left on the D-pad.

So if you have an explosive in your Perk 1 slot or have an M203 Grenade Launcher attached just hit Left on the D-pad to switch to it.

A few other things to keep in mind:

Bullet Penetration - Bullet Penetration - Bullet Penetration.

Good luck guys.

I was a master of knife kills at the Activision event on the 10th. There was an ability that allowed you to shoot your pistol from the ground a few times after someone "killed" you. I forget the name of the ability but using it for the first time drew a lot of yells and confused people wondering how the hell they were killed by the guy they just dropped.

The current beta made us use our gamertags. The token is actually linked to the gamertag and you would not be able to use it with any other gamertag as far as I know.

That is true, the code is linked to your tag - I just don't think your email address needs to be linked to your gamertag.

Thank you. Using it for the first time was such a great moment. 20+ for the kill and the yelp of a confused enemy (he was across my station) put a huge grin on my face. Absolutely loved the multiplayer.

Haha. I like that.

I'm hoping that the community in the first wave is as good as the F&F community during the Halo 3 Beta. Considering the fact that this isn't really known by the general public, I think it is a stark possibility. Too many douches can ruin a good online game.

I'm also hoping I get in the first wave, but that goes without saying.

:P

Is this confirmed that the Beta release is around 7pm tonight or the ANNOUNCEMENT of the Beta release is tonight?

Methinks we all may be adjusting plans for the countdown clock to go up.

Guys don't forget to post answers. Help fellow gaffers after you are done. :P

Do you need Xbox Live Gold to play the beta? I know Halo 3 required you to have gold.
2. How do I redeem my token for the COD4 beta?
To participate in the beta, users must have an Xbox Live Gold membership based in the United States.
