COD 4 Beta Thread

Okay, watching the COD4 segment on the 1Up Show sealed it for me -- I must play this game.

Does anyone have a key I can beg for?
 
I just found some beta codes on an internet forum, can i get banned from xbox live for
using one of them. (they obviously have been used before)
 
Was the knife nerfed? I seem to sometimes not get kills with it when i hit people point blank with it.... i used to get more before


its possible that i changed the button placement from right stick to a.. for the knife attack and thats causing it... but its weird
 
I got a beta code from a friend online, but every time I try to download it, I get a "can't retrieve information from xbox live. please try again later" message with a status code of 80153004. I have a Gold trial at the moment, so anyone have any idea what's wrong, or do I simply need to try again later?

I hate to ask this but i've tried a few searches and come up with nothing.

Does anybody know if we get to keep our stats from the beta to the full version?

Who here has a WRT54G router and no problem joining lobbies and parties? I have great difficulty joining buddies and seem to be unable to join lobbies. CoD4 seems to force me to host the game every time I try to find a game.

i have that router and never have a problem.

I'm also good to go with that router, forward all the correct Xbox Live ports.

That's the thing. Making a fixed IP, forwarding all the ports and even putting it in DMZ doesn't open up the NAT. Putting everything on automatic and switching on upnp in the router settings opens up my NAT. Doesn't fix the problem though.

I have that router, works awesome. It's your settings my friend =P.

EDIT: Oh and great thinking IW, you guys are awesome =). For that alone I will buy any SE that comes of COD4, a first for me =D

It could be the settings of your friends then. Sometimes I can't join certain people either, but they can accept my invites (Open NAT) without any trouble.

i take back every negative word i ever said about this game's netcode. i just got off gears of war and my god, what a piece of shit. i can't believe i played that game for as long as i did. worst netcode ever.

I haven't been able to login to my live account, so no COD4 for me at the moment. Hopefully, my ISP will take care of that problem by tomorrow.

Yeah I think the Killcam just makes it more obvious. Everytime you die you can see if what happens on your screen matches what happened on the screen of the guy who killed you. In most games it would just be, shit I died again, man I'm having a bad round. In COD4 it's more like <watch killcam> fuck I'm lagging about a second behind that guy, that might be why I'm having a bad round.

yeah there's definitely latency but it's nowhere NEAR as bad as that game. why can't most games be like shadowrun and halo 3? what kind of voodoo magic are those guys using to code their games?
 
I'm already on the beta but a buddy of mine wants in badly and has not received a token from any of the sites he registered to. If anyone has a beta code they could pass along please PM me so I can surprise him.
