We're slowly creeping up on that beautiful thing we call Public Beta, and with every step and every new wave that is let in we're going to be seeing a lot more talk on the boards regarding tactics, tips, and personal experiences playing it.
I wanted to just throw out a few helpful hints to keep in mind when playing the beta.
The Beta is currently capped at Rank level 11. Which means you can only ran k up to Sgt. I in the Beta and use all attachments, weapons, and perks available to that rank. We'll gradually be raising the Rank cap throughout the beta to help us test more and more, this really helps us focus testing on certain areas and aspects at a time. So just so you're not caught off guard when the time comes to hit the field.
Second, remember staying a live is crucial in any game, but staying alive, and making sure others don't, is KEY in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as you'll be rewarded for kill streaks you get during multiplayer matches each spawn.
So say, you get 3 Kills without dying, you'll have the ability to call in a UAV Recon (Radar), 5 kills without dying you can call in an Airstrike, and 7 kills without dying you can call in Helicopter support.
Once any of these are unlocked, the symbol for that reward will appear in the lower-center of your HUD next to a D-pad icon. You will notice the icon for the reward you have available will be next to the Right D-pad button. This means that you can activate this reward by hitting the Right D-Pad.
UAV Recon (Radar) will activate automatically upon pressing Right D-pad and will scan the Mini-map every second or so for a duration of 30 seconds revealing enemy locations.
Airstrike - Hitting the right D-pad will pull up a larger version of the entire map and allows you a cross hair to designate where on the map the airstrike should focus. This is great when used in cooperation with a teammate's UAV Recon (Radar) for the best strike position.
Helictoper is automatic as well. Just hit Right on the D-pad when you have Helicopter support available and a gunship will come in, strafe the battlefield looking for targets and fire on them when sighted. You don't have to control it, just let the pilot and gunner do their thing as you continue the fight on the ground. Beware though, enemy helicopters can be shot down by enemy fire but will also eventually leave after a bit.
As you can tell the D-pad plays a pretty vital role in Multiplayer, allowing you access to your Kill Streak Rewards (right on d-pad), as well as your Night Vision (up on D-pad), and lastly your Perk 1 slot bonuses such as C-4, RPG's, and even your M203 Grenade Launcher if attached via Left on the D-pad.
So if you have an explosive in your Perk 1 slot or have an M203 Grenade Launcher attached just hit Left on the D-pad to switch to it.
A few other things to keep in mind:
Bullet Penetration - Bullet Penetration - Bullet Penetration.
Good luck guys.
