COD 4 Beta Thread

Wow.....this game is incredibly fun, should be a nice change of pace from the halo multiplayer that will dominate my life when it comes out. This beta is the only thing thats been able to tear me away from bioshock.....and even then, i alternate the two. Still though, everything just feels fantastic, loving it.

So, lemme see; if there's one lesson to take away from this whole Beta, it's that IW needs to work harder at excluding people, right?

Snark aside, I have a hard time being angry at the non-US people. I'm thinking back to when... let's say when XWing-vs-TieFighter was due out. If there had been some Beta program, and all I had to do was sign up at OMGTheForceIsAwesome.com, but they didn't want people in Alaska (where I was) to sign up yet... you'd better believe I would have written down "Texas" as my residence. Or if my friend was already in, and all I had to do was exploit some MS glitch...

I'm not excusing anyone (and it's not like I'm impartial either way), but the indignation I see is a little disheartening. Waiting sucks, and so does feeling left out; but everybody that wants in is getting in. And come November, we'll all be in there.
 
After what seems like a lifetime, I'm finally staring at my X360 dashboard download manager and watching the beta being, er, downloaded.

I FINALLY GOT IN. Never thought this day would come. Pretty crap timing, as some stuff has come up. This beta better last a while. Will download soon.

Except I didn't lie about where I reside. I was actually very specific; I wrote 'England', but they still chose to send me a Beta key.

I've been playing this all day and I'm ready to say that this game is going to dominate a whole lot of my time this holiday season.

Does IW have any intention of raising the maximum rank some time into the beta or is it maxed out at 11 until it's done?
 
Are any of you Gaffers going to play any objective-based games? Playing objective-based games with people with no headsets kinds of sucks.

It'll be raised. By the end of things, you'll be able to unlock anything that isn't marked "classified" in the Beta. Clan-Tags, the G3, etc.

I'm a sucker for letting the fact that I'm Canadian stop me from applying, aren't I? Can't believe even the Brits got something in the works but not us.

Anyone know how long the beta lasts?
 
Oh neat i got the e-mail, better late than never i suppose. I signed up within the final hours of the registration so i'm sure all you guys will get one eventually (just assuming that's how it's working).
