Well this is a clusterfuck. I've been trying to get in the beta since last week. Shit, I've been trying to load the site for the last hour.

Trying to get into the beta has been a big turnoff. Half-life 2 will most likely get my money instead.

One of the best games of the year? I doubt it. I think it will be good, but there are a bunch of titles that are way ahead of COD4.

And maybe it will be my loss, but maybe they shouldn't try stupid tactics which have failed in the past with other games for these types of signups. Learn from the mistakes of the past.

Someone else had this great idea (somewhere recently in this cluster thread, up aways somewhere), why not send out the offer to those who are registered to your site to their listed email address?

Running web servers on 286s is always a bad idea ;) I could offer my mac up for the slaughter; probably could give out a little more than 5 tokens before crapping out. It'd be a party.

Fuck this first come first serve registration, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COMMUNITY.

NO MORE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will be taking care of the guys who've spent the last 6 months on the site, reading all of our updates, participating in our forums, and staying home all day today refreshing the site to get a token.

YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF, and we will make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get into the beta REGARDLESS of depending on the the site.

So here's the current plan. We are cracking whips and making sure the site gets back up and running. We're going to do away with the first come, first serve and are going to have open registration for 24 hours.

So whether you're able to get on the site within the hour, or log on at midnight tonight, you can sign-up and have an equal chance at a token.

We will then take that massive database of sign-ups over the next 24 hours, and distribute all available tokens to the members who sign-up.

We're doing everything we can to make sure this site crash does not effect your chances for Beta glory.

So keep the comments, emails, and calls coming guys, it's just fueling our fight to make sure you guys are taken care of.

CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR UPDATES, as I'll keep you guys FULLY in the loop.

You can be pissed off by this clusterfuck and still play the game, doesn't mean you have to fully support the people who made it.

Yeah; the servers aren't actually here in California, they're hosted elsewhere. Because when you're going to have potentially site-melting traffic, you want it on servers run by professionals, y'know?

(I'm politely coughing, but you probably can't hear that.)
