Coffeezilla gets bribed by csgo casinos. He exposes them instead.

i can't believe valve is guilty bro
Well of course Valve us guilty here, simply by not doing anything against it. I think there was one measure they implemented, and that's about it. And it's good that somebody brings this to light, who is not an investigative journalist a la Richard Lewis. Valve at this point is making billions in revenue from this grey market CS shit, and it has gotten completely out of hand.

Gaben relocating to New Zealand now carries a more dastardly motive (to escape the long arm of US jurisdiction).

Give us HL3 and you can have your pardon.

I had another thread on a similar subject re: CS monetization some time ago.

oh no...not our lord gaben!!

Nothing really happened last time this was in the spotlight.
Seems Value can live by different rules than other companies.

Burn this casino shit to the ground I say. And Value needs a singeing, too.

Gambling is one of those things that I'm very thankful I am not susceptible to. Like, I tried it. It wasn't for me. And that was it. No strength of character. No willpower. Nothing. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Gambling straight ruins people's lives, though. I'm honestly kind of surprised it's legal at all. Not necessarily because it's such a profoundly awful vice, mind you, but because I feel like it kind of brings nothing of value to society as a whole. Like, if gambling just vanished, I don't think we'd be all that much worse off for it. We'd be just fine.

I like this Coffeezilla guy. Not a fan of most youtube "personalities" and hate that subsection that does meme coins and the like personally (especially those stupid Tate "alpha male" and Paul "energy drink" d bags)

But this guy, he's legit. Keep fighting the good fight.

Can't wait for Google to make up some spurious bullshit about this guy to get his channel taken down.
Google? Why would google care about counterstrike gambling? It's Valve benefiting from this.
What would google gain? If anything they would lose viewers.

New Zealand is awesome. Everyone with money moves there because of it. They'll still extradite you to the US in a heartbeat if requested. See: Kim Dotcom's legal woes.

I'm implying that some day he'll find something Google are doing that he reports on. All of these companies are the same, when you get right down to it.

Think you need a more interesting title OP and thank you for exposing this.

I almost missed this not knowing who Coffezilla is and would like this one to see more traction.

Is Valve making money from organized crime? Or similar title would help

Worked in the industry for 6 years. I miss it, but my god was it fucked up.

The majority of people don't have an addictive personality. They can have a drink, smoke a joint, and have a poker game without ruining their lives. An addict can't stop.

It's a tiny minority that makes these businesses most of the money. The so-called whales are maybe 1% of those who gamble on these websites (already a subset of the population), making them 80%+ of the profit. It's the same for alcohol, as crazy as it sounds. They aren't necessarily wealthy, nor do they play for money. It's the difference between most people spending only $2.5 a month and a few spending $2500.

I agree that it does nothing to society and that nothing of value would be lost without it, but bring that to the extreme and it could be applied to many other things, including video games and entertainment. People used to say the same about alcohol, but we all know what happened when they tried to ban it. In this specific case, CS: GO casinos, it's not necessarily the gambling itself I have a problem with (adults should be free to spend their money however they like), but the fact it's targeted at minors, who have way less impulse control, via many influencers.

There is a straightforward way to fix this: Force ID verification, make it illegal to promote this shit to streamers, fucking fine/ban gaming companies who allow this kind of crap to happen. Valve did something years ago to restrict trading, but that was not enough. They are responsible for the ecosystem and profiting off it.

He's done a good job so far of keeping his content unbiased and sticking to the facts.

I mean are people really surprised? Online gambling is straight up legal and mainstream. Online sports betting I'm sure dwarfs anything Valve is doing. It won't end until governments wake up and realize it needs to be heavily regulated . Also allowing online sports gambling was a huge mistake. It made it all so mainstream I don't think you can put the genie back in the bottle.
