Cold showers and why you should do it.

Turned my shower to the coldest possible temperature, but it wasn't really that cold, I had no problem with standing there. So maybe I'm a superhuman who is super resistent to cold or there is something wrong with my shower.

I start breathing heavily whenever the ice cold water hits my chest. Maybe I should try slightly warmer water next time but man it does feel great afterwards :)

If the water isn't a degree or two from burning my skin off, it's not hot enough. Steam showers are even better, but they get everything so damn foggy in the bathroom.

I don't know how people can take cold showers. Even taking a ridiculously hot shower, I still dread that moment where I have to get out of it and freeze for a couple of seconds until I'm dry.

Yeah but that's the thing. When I get out of a cold shower I don't feel cold at all.

I'm on like day 4 of trying cold showers now.

I will say that my skin is better already. My elbows are nice now. But the energy boost? Nah, not really for me. Half an hour of being a little more awake and then no difference that I can discern. I'll need a few more days but the testosterone thing.... well ummmm... I guess I've noticed some sort of increase in libido. Either that or I'm just in man heat. Just everything that has legs now hdkcidbshsysjevqo.

I have taken about 3 cold showers now. The cold doesn't bother me any more after the first 30 seconds, and I can usually chill there (no pun intended) for a few minutes. My skin seems less oily and my hair stays softer longer. My only issue is I feel like I am getting dirty faster. Like before I never noticed this, but I actually feel as if I smell now. It's weird because I am not doing anything different besides the temperature. Maybe I am just paranoid.

Didn't do the straight cold, did the hot shower start (scalding hot, just the way I like it) to clean up with soap and etcetera then the cold shower finale.

It is alright, my hair and skin already feel better, my skin definitely is less oily (especially the face). I don't know about increased libido/etc. but we shall see.

The biggest difference? I went outside at 0 degree weather and actually didn't notice it as bad. That might be the biggest one, going from a hot shower to cold weather sucks so bad but in the winter this isn't too bad. (Overall I am noticing an increase in body temperature, except my hands which are always cold :( )

immense health benefits

So I've noticed my hair has gotten flatter since I've switched to cold showers exclusively. I'm not sure if I'm happy with this yet.

So I've been taking cold showers since this thread for the past few weeks and just wanted to thank the op and the others posting the benefits. Holy shit.

I took one hot shower since going cold because I was sick and thought it'd help. Never again. My skin got tight and itchy, my nasal passage was dry and burning, my hair felt like proto-feathers (i have thin hair).

I'm saying this because I just took a cold shower and noticed I had gotten used to it. No more shivers. Always felt good after one anyway. You never feel cold after stepping out of a cold shower like you would a hot shower.

That's the best part.

Now spread the word brother, let's live in a world of cold showers!

Just took a cold shower. No hot, just coldest from beginning.

I am subscribing to cold water showers daily now.

I will die cleaning my hair with cold water. I wont touch hot and try to live to tell the story.

Also exercising again...

So how are the cold showers during the winter? I've gone back to the slightly warmer ones because it's getting chilly out, but maybe I'm just being a pussy about it.

Turned the shower to cold at the end today. Felt pretty refreshing. I have started shaving with cold water, and it's made a huge positive difference. I use a straight razor, though, so it might have something to do with that.

Will shower with cold water, starting today, for the rest of the month. Here we go.

Edit:

Not bad at all. Was expecting to freeze my ass off but it was only bad for the first 30 seconds or so. After that, it was smooth sailing.

In that way, it's just like a hot shower. Starts out hot hot, then feels good. Here, it starts cold cold, then feels good. After a week or so, your body expects it and it becomes second nature.

Just did cold shower number one.

Had the cold water on full bore before I hopped in. First two minutes were fucking hell. I don't think every part of me got properly wet until three or so minutes in. After that, it felt so damn good. I just wanted to be covered in liquid ice. I can honestly say this is the best I have ever felt after a shower.

Penis still visible, scrotum very taut.

I like to compare it to jumping into a cold as fuck ocean. Its a heavenly feeling. You just gotta psych yourself into doing it, and it feels great! I usually swim in the Gulf of Mexico, which is hot as fuck near the beach, so the first time I dove in Hawaiian waters I felt great.

Aint nothing worse than hot beach water.

Not brave enough to do the ice cold shower thing, but I absolutely LOVE turning the water to scalding hot for a few seconds before I get out of the shower. I usually let it hit my back during this time, and it's such an oddly pleasant experience. Like you're creating an itch and scratching it at the same time - that's the only way I can describe it.

I tried this today. I started out at basically normal temperature (which means hot as hell), and gradually went colder and colder. After 3 minutes, it became so cold that I started breathing very heavily. I managed to stay in that cold for a minute and it actually felt pretty good. Then I found out I could turn the handle about as much as I already had (from hottest to the part I was at), but stubbornly I turned the valve and I honestly felt like I couldn't breath the first 10 seconds after the water hit my chest. But surprisingly it went away pretty fast (my nerves probably froze).

Anyways, never doing it again.

I have done this before. For me it takes several showers before I can actually get the balls to stand in it full on. Once you do though, afterward it does feel totally invigorating! I like to do it in the hot of summer after a hard day of work.

It reminds me of a time when I was a kid and we used to go swimming in the creek near town. It was early spring, but hot as hell out and us kids decided to jump in. I went first, off an old train bridge into the sub 50 degree water! I was nearly paralyzed and couldnt breathe for a few seconds! The cold shower is warmer than that was, but the feeling in my chest is pretty close.

took a mostly pure cold shower this morning and after gym, didn't feel any different, it stung a bit after gym though. will try for a week or two.

I've been having cold showers most times for the past few weeks. I don't do full cold though, because with full cold I get a weird feeling like I'm struggling to breathe so I have it more like 8/10 coldness. Does feel good after the initial shock every time, but I still have warm (not hot any more) showers to wash hair.

Maybe I'll go full cold when it starts regularly hitting 30+ soon.

I have taken warm showers but not used any soap for the last couple of months and am thinking of trying cold showers. Should I start with soap again, or would that mess up my skin/hair?

Second day of cold showers this morning. Hesitated for a second but did it anyway. It really is invigorating.

Hopefully it helps my dry skin

What the hell? There must be something wrong with me, I just chicken out as soon as I feel those icy daggers hit my shoulders. You people have balls of steel.

Psh, fuck you guys.

I like my showers hot enough to turn my skin red.
Everyone does. It's not a question of preferences, cold showers are still superior for a million reasons.

You will too after a couple of days. The first few are the worst, then you get used to the pain

Canti, you took the words right out of my mouth. This is EXACTLY how I feel. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to say. Hot water or bust

I tried taking a warm shower for the first time in a few weeks a few days ago and I couldn't do it. It was almost too warm, and I didn't even have it on that high. I just lowered it back down. I still have issues when I first get in, but it gets better the longer I am in. Seriously though, letting ice cold water run over your face for 5-10 seconds is one of the greatest feelings ever. I usually do it at least 4 or 5 times while I am in there.

So wait...

is your entire shower supposed to be cold or do you just turn the water cold toward the end of your shower and it in it for a bit? Does it make a difference?
