hmmmm people that don't think like you, scary huh?
jontron:
- Foreigners dilute the gene pool
- Black crime in America is the same as in Africa (like, he fuckin' brought this up TWICE)
- Racial issues can be summed up via mixing different colors of paint
- Statistical data means nothing because Clinton lost the election
- Destiny wants to kill black people
- Black Lives Matter is a violent organization
- the richest black man commits more crimes than the poorest white man
- Tribalism is a valid theory
- Immigrants are destroying every single country they are let into
- America is gonna become Mexico
- Racism is over
- Muslims are organizing to make it seem like Christians are protesting abortion clinics

And Destiny didn't even fucking ask the most obvious fuckin' question: "If you're so concerned about immigrants, why do you keep bringing up blacks?"
FOH with your "both sides" nonsense IN 2017.

being uneducated is unattractive.

All these people saying oh now I'm back to subscribing, oh it's better that he is gone. Please explain this one cause without him, Kinda Funny is quite boring.

Are you intentionally being ignorant about this entire thread?

The explanation is they don't want to support a piece of dog shit of a human being, and are willing to support Kinda Funny now that they've done what they had to. Simple.

Saw this coming. Stop listening to Kinda Funny a long time ago cause Colin just killed the vibe a lot for me. Just sounded like dude didn't enjoy games or the game industry anymore.

I honestly think its this more than anything else. He got tired of talking about video games.

I actually really liked Colin because he spoke how he felt. He spoke with conviction and believed in what he said. Agree with him or not, he doesn't just pander to anyone, and I like that! Good luck Colin!

what do you think of trump

i genuinely think it's really sad that people value "speaking what you think!" over the truth.

I'm serious here, I have been avoiding Collin Moriarty online presence for years and I don't remember why. Like, I don't even remember his day jobs or his history... I was just hardwired to do it, not giving him clicks. I don't know when I started do it.
I saw him, in the IGN days, as a) a guy who liked Ayn Rand, b) a guy who wrote fanboyish editorials, and c) a font of toxic Nintendo anti-fan talking points. All in a faux intellectual persona. So I avoided him and disliked him from afar.

Seems a lot of the love he gets is from writing/knowing about Sony first party, which hasn't really been my thing post-PS2 so there was also a mismatch in what seems to be regarded as his core credentials and what I'm interested in.

Re-encountered him through the GAF threads and, while the hate can come on too hot and undercooked, and a lot seemed to overflow from him being not in line with GAF Sony fan mainstream or from heady knee jerk reactions to his politics, but he didn't seem to want to engage with even the good arguments against his points.

Moreover, while preaching civil discourse he seemed to have the self destructive habit of saying offensive things and then lashing out in a confused, uncommunicative way when people took him to task and painting, say, GAF as this huge monsterous Other that wouldn't engage when he didn't even honestly try to engage himself.

Idk that's the way I see it from the sidelines. Maybe a, b, or c turned you off back in the day?

I think what Colin said last week was out of line, and I didn't like his rant against appropriation last week RE Horizon, but man I've been listening to those two guys talk video games every week for 9 years. It'll be really hard to go without, and I'm worried that they (KF, whom I've supported on Patreon since day 1) will be a little more bland now. Hope he lands on his feet, and that they get someone to shake them up who's super informed on games. RIP PS I Love You XOXO - your star shined brilliantly.

He was the main reason why I watched KF. I probably won't anymore. I tend to separate politics form entertainment
its a good practice, I suggest everyone tries it
and I have really enjoyed his insight into gaming and I have since I started listening to him at ign almost 9 (or 8?) years ago. I doubt I'll watch anything from them again because Greg and Tim don't provide anything I could find better versions of elsewhere (giant bomb and easy allies).
That's not even possible at this point. Also I don't even know what you're saying bc colin has specifically said that he wants developers to keep putting their views in their games. That's how we get games like Horizon and Mafia 3

Exactly this. I RARELY agreed with political views, but it was refreshing to hear a different side. Especially in the gaming echo chamber, where it seems everyone shares 97% of the same views.

At the very least, he made me think critically as to WHY I feel the way I do about certain subjects.

i don't know that FOH is.

And I have no need to be attractive to people on the internet. Doing just fine in real life.

I think FOH = (Get the) Fuck Outta Here

Jontron is racist full stop. Colin following Jon after the recent events makes him racist too.

You know, this is the second time I've seen Neil stan for this guy, also after that infamous "shake hands with fascists" video

Not sure if I like this trend from Neil. He makes really good, progressively-themed games, but I hope he's just being nice because Colin is a reviewer

Does that mean no more Colin was right shitfest?
Because if that's the consequence, don't mind if i open a bottle of champaign.

People keep acting like shit like what JonTron is saying that should be respected. Or that Colin's "joke" and his response and his headassery should be respected.

No.

Neil actually knows him. Do you? Does Neil have to run who he is friends with by you too?

I'm more for coming from the point of what's next cause with Colin leaving 2 shows are pretty much done and they have one less person to talk about videogames. Only Tim & Greg.

I had already drifted away from Kinda Funny's content as I wavered back and forth on Greg being too positive and Colin being too negative.

I enjoyed having different views in the GameOverGreggy show even when I disagreed with Colin(Even un followed him on twitter to get away from some of the obnoxious stuff he says). That's why I watch Totalbiscuit even though I disagree with him often, differing points of view.

Not admonishing anyone for being glad he's gone, I know I trim my Twitter feed of stuff I don't want to see regularly. So I can understand why this would be a draw for people to start watching again.

I guess I had nothing really important to add.

they are friends, not much else to read into likes, RT's and stuff like that

Gaming echo chamber? Do we live in the same world? Is your perspective of the gaming world limited entirely to NeoGAF?

Gamergaters are a thing. Shitty, insecure, petulant people like JonTron and now, seemingly, Colin Moriarty plague this industry. There's basically a larger contingent of alt-right horeshit in gaming than any other entertainment medium.

they are just friends,i mean sadly i got friends that voted for trump but i am still a nice guy to them and talk to them

i can't "dump" a friend for them being stupid you know

I decided to listen to a Kinda Funny Games podcast and yeah, I'm glad to see Colin go. They were talking about Horizon having a woman in the lead role and how somebody wrote to them that they can't relate to a woman being the protagonist. Colin kept going on about how it is dumb that you can't relate to video game characters because they are doing fantastical things. It's this strange "perfection or nothing" attitude that just makes for bad dialogue. It is dumb that a person can't "relate" to a woman as a protagonist, but people can relate to a video game protagonist. I relate to Aloy in Horizon because I grew up in a religious family. I know what it feels like to have a non-religious view and everybody around me act like I'm being an idiot about it.

The whole time, I just felt that Colin was pedantically handling the conversation.

okay, care to answer the bit where jontron's "racism" are just "different ways of thinking"?

Yes, JonTron said things that other people don't agree with, let him say them, he has the right to do it. That's what he THINKS, that's how he FEELS.

I know you are big advocate for LGBT rights, I know you lean left, you have the right to say whatever you want and if someone came here on GAF to tell you to get the "Fuck Out of Here", that wouldn't make you happy right?

"Fuck outta here"

Hope we adequately explained to you why some people's opinions can be scary.

Opinions shouldn't be scary, if you don't agree with someone just say it, but let people say what they want.

I think FOH = (Get the) Fuck Outta Here

following someone doesn't make you racist. you throw that word out too easily.

Heh.
Kinda funny how predictable that was

I know you weren't talking to me buuuut.
There might be a teeny tiny difference between "I want to make the life of other people a bit better" and "I want to make the life of other people like living hell" that might be worth considering.

no because I don't come here on GAF to tell you about how black people are genetically inferior to me because i'm white

They're friends, he'll know Colin irl and professionally in similar way to Greg. I just knew posting that would end up with people now hinting at Druckmann being some sort of problem or hitting up with the boycott ND, which would be overboard. That's yet another example of while Colin might have been an asshat, scorching the earth around him by micro-managing who follows him on Twitter, who he's ever spoke to, and so forth and then burning them all is a tad out of control.

I mean, is Adam Boyes also a problem because he spoke to Colin?
