Being a libertarian is dependent on thinking racism and sexism are either over or not a problem worth trying to fix (other than letting the market fix it). So it may not mean being alt right, but it does mean likely agreeing with the foundation of alt right / white supremacy stuff.
He doesn't believe the govt should provide healthcare.
I literally lol-ed. I mean, that's his goddamn handle on Twitter.
Honestly? Fuck Colin Moriarty. I hope I never have to hear that name again, ever.

I don't think people disagree with Colin that Horizon should be celebrated for its efforts to diversify its population. The problem is that, as usual, Colin throws out the baby with the bath water. Most here probably agree that Horizon isn't very guilty of cultural appropriation in the way that writer argues. But Colin goes even further to essentially argue that cultural appropriation is a bullshit issue in all cases. The truth is that cultural appropriation is real and has been a problem in many cases. Issues like Halloween party outfits are not the big issues that cultural appropriation causes. The biggest problem is when a cultural tradition or practice from a minority/foreign group gets co-opted and over time people no longer associate that tradition or practice with the originating group. It is essentially identity osmosis and it sucks when it happens.See you see that but I see a guy saying we finally have a game that should be celebrated for its diversity, for having a strong female lead, where 90% of the game is not all white males, where women are empowered.......Yet that's still not good enough for some people.
Alloy is a better mascot than Natham Drake and Kratos
Jeez. Did he do something to you personally?
Not defending him or anything, but thats alot of hate for a dude that just spews his opinion over the internet.
If you think him calling for the end of all taxes whatsoever. 0% taxes and a government with no budget and no ability to provide any services at all isn't calling for anarchy then I don't know what would qualify to you.
I literally lol-ed. I mean, that's his goddamn handle on Twitter.
Who is going to watch Colin Moriarty with regards to politics? He's going to dwindle into obscurity if he goes this route.
Vince tweeted that he was laid off. It would make sense for current employees to avoid talking about a situation like that.
Anything in the rumor mill on why Vince left IGN?
Seemed very sudden and he had done reviews and podcasts up until he finished up. Also didnt see any reaction from colleagues in relation to his departure
I literally lol-ed. I mean, that's his goddamn handle on Twitter.
75 page thread for this? Jesus.
No taxes on food, rent, fuel. 20% tax, let's say, on pretty much everything else. Love the idea. But it'll never happen
I agree with that 100%, but it's very difficult to make people care about that if it's not high up on their priority list. Greg and Colin made it known that in their opinion it was a non issue. To other podcasters they can have a different opinion and feel more strongly, that's the beautiful thing about podcasting.I don't think people disagree with Colin that Horizon should be celebrated for its efforts to diversify its population. No taxation without representation. Thats where he gets it from. He has discussed this on podcasts before many times - he thinks federal taxes should be minimal with higher local taxes.
I always thought his username was a spin on, "No taxation without representation".
Jeez. Did he do something to you personally?

Quick Google search about Colins thoughts on taxes:
https://mobile.twitter.com/notaxation/status/665727338433220609
Looks like theres lots of video too about him and taxes. Not about to go down that rabbit hole.
He doesn't believe the govt should provide healthcare.
Let's not pretend Colin is a libertarian. That label makes his views seem less extreme than they truly are. He is a radicalized anrachist who is calling for the utter destruction of the nations entire support system for the poor and worse off.
Libertarians want lower taxes. Colin wants NO taxes. The government to have no money whatsoever to provide absolutely zero services.
Um... agree or disagree, there are a lot of people who are interested in what he has to say about politics. I think if he goes this route he will be incredibly successful, like him or not.
Greg seemed firm on the belief that "this isn't cultural appropriation". Colin was firm on the belief that "cultural appropriation is always a bullshit complaint."I agree with that 100%, but it's very difficult to make people care about that if it's not high up on their priority list. I love the people who are super ignorant getting schooled by reasonable/educated people in this thread. Especially the people who don't know what his twitter handle means lmaooooo that's like middle school stuff
See, if peopleread the first two words of that sentence only, they get the wrong idea. That's why reading his username and immediately attacking the guy is dangerous behavior, in the sense that it makes it easy to dismiss everything they say after that. Not saying I'd personally do it, but a lot of people would.
Pray tell, who is going to pay for the extremely hundreds of billions of dollars every year at the federal level for Medicare, Medicaid, and so on then?
I've seen dozens of people do exactly this in only the last few pages. You're kind of validating Colin's 'Outrage Culture' argument when you react this way. You literally don't even know what you're mad about. Hell, as a far left liberal, reading this thread has convinced me to recognize some of Colin's viewpoints more than Colin himself was ever able to.
Colin said there is nothing wrong with a white person dressing up as a Native American for Halloween.Greg seemed firm on the belief that "this isn't cultural appropriation". Colin was firm on the belief that "cultural appropriation is always a bullshit complaint."
Nothing really beautiful about Colin's perspective.
Fuck what? Even if you ignore his far right bullshit he's still aggressive, condescending and ignorant.
Just watch him go bananas for 30 mins over the PS4pro announcement.
Glad that his attempts to turn KF into video game's Breitbart News failed.
Colin was fucking right? How self centered can one person be? Glad he's out, enjoying that Polygon are making fun of him.
He probably thinks he has a big career in politics ahead of him because he was on the radio twice.
He should soon find out that he's just another white supremacist with a hint of conspiracy theorist in there and not as fucking special as he thinks.
I don't know who "a lot of people" are or how many they amount to, but Colin's "fame" (if you want to call it that) was based upon gamers, not political junkies. Most gamers are younger, identify as either Democrat or Independent and have more liberal views than Colin. He is not going get any vast numbers of gamers to follow him so that he can pontificate about politics and he an unknown in the world of political commentary. Gamers listened to him for his "insights" into games and gaming culture/history, not for his views on healthcare reform.
So, he would be starting from (basically) ground zero in an over saturated segment of podcasters. And, in all honesty, I do not believe that Colin has the personality or the quick wit necessary to get a job on a "mainstream" right-leaning political channel, even one like Fox News... He is just bland and (to me), his attempts at joking fell flat most times... he was certainly not very good at vamping when Greg had to step off mic for anything more than a few seconds (for that matter, neither was Greg good at it).
Perhaps he would do well as a political writer, but I have to disagree with you that he is going to be anything close to "incredibly successful".
Uh, wow.
Come on... A little over the top and hyperbolic, don't you think? Colin is a Republican and a conservative. I do not believe in his position on almost anything politically. I am a moderate Democrat who worked on the Hillary campaign. But, he was not turning KF into a Breitbart News. That is just silly. And, by the way, Colin is anti-Trump and was a "never Trumper" during the election, so he is not a complete ideologue. And, "Colin was Right" was a joke started by Greg.
That being said, I believe that he is making a HUGE mistake leaving KF at this point in its growth. It was going very well for those guys and Colins departure may very well end, not only his career, but damage his friends at KF ,as well.
This is what Laurie Penny wrote about Milo Y. While he is very different than Colin, the quote still seems appropriate:
I think now he will be forgotten especially when he leaves the group that would have kept him in the spotlight. He's extremely divisive and he energizes a ton of people. I think Colin will continue to talk about games but it will probably be heavily lined with politics. This thread alone shows how much success he could have. Nearly 4000 replies. Divisiveness breeds viewership.
I think the opposite, let's hope this hasn't soured Kinda Funny. Now they can try to rebuild.
Pray tell, who is going to pay for the extremely hundreds of billions of dollars every year at the federal level for Medicare, Medicaid, and so on then?
"How do you do, fellow feminists?"This goes on for maybe two more screens worth of tweets. Please send help.

Name 24 in the last two pages.I've seen dozens of people do exactly this in only the last few pages.
Well they said the door is open to him to come back if he wants so it might as well see what happens.I think now he will be forgotten especially when he leaves the group that would have kept him in the spotlight.
Think you could provide some meaningful contribution?
Considering the size of this thread i have the feeling gaf will keep me up to date about whatever Colin is doing.I think now he will be forgotten especially when he leaves the group that would have kept him in the spotlight.
