College Football 2016 Week Nine: Penn State Overcomes Adversity, is Healing Now

Something is fishy when you have a directory called "thetruth". It's like having a "porn" folder that just exists to throw people off of your real porn folder.
I hate you for making me pick some of these games in your pick em. Michigan State and Illinois? Ugh

Baylor VP called accusers "mentally ill."

“As I understand it, what someone said in this meeting was, quote, ‘What Patty is saying is not fact,'” 60 Minutes reporter Armen Keteyan said. “‘Those women had mental illness. We have to stick with the facts and there are none.’ Is that accurate?”

Haha. I tried to get an equal amount from each power 5 conference. It just so happens that each conference only seems to have 1 good game this week(or it's on a Thursday).
I get it, I just had no clue who to pick in some of those because both teams suck.

I knew it!

Well just off the top of my head you got USC, Stanford, Navy, Boston College, Michigan St, and uh... I wanna say either Purdue or Penn St. Plus Michigan that'd be like seven rivalries plus whatever I'm forgetting. They don't even play all those games every year!

basically every team they used to play annually claims them because it was such a big game to all of those teams.

This is similar to say, Nebraska and Oklahoma in the Big 8, every team would consider Nebraska it's rival outside of maybe Oklahoma State.

The true test of Rivalry is if it goes both ways. Notre Dame certainly doesn't consider anyone outside of maybe USC, Stanford, and Michigan their rivals from that set.

And to answer the question from Nebraska's point of view:

New Rival:
Wisconsin

Old Rival:
Oklahoma
Texas

Iowa is close but it's more of the kind of hatred we had for say Kansas State or Colorado than true rivalry at this point. I think Ohio State and/or Michigan could get there too, esp with how much we will be playing them with the strength-based crossover scheduling

You forgot your bitter rivalry with Minnesota , you have a trophy!

Jim Delany to @TeddyGreenstein: Friday night games coming to the Big Ten in 2017 and beyond.

What are we, the pac12?

Apparently Ohio State and Pedo State won't have to host any Friday night games and Michigan has refused to play in any home or road.

I bet USC fans reading this are more than a little pissed that they weren't able to get preferential treatment from Larry Scott.

Was reported we are going to play a friday game every 3 years.

Supposedly the Pac-12 is supposed to have a similar rotation but USC has played in Thursday night games every year and hosted at least 2.

I dunno if it is better for Friday night games, but a lot of the Pac-12 schools prohibit tailgating for Thursday night games which is a bummer.

Friday is horrible because it competes against high school football.

Interesting. I feel like that doesn't really happen in the Pac. We've mostly got the local rivalries: Cal-Stanford, USC-UCLA, U Dub-Wazzu, Oregon-OSU, Arizona-ASU. And then Utah-BYU and whoever Colorado is rivals with. You've also got Oregon-U Dub and then the "weekender" sorta mini-rivalries between the California teams, but that's about it. You don't see a ton of teams claiming to be rivals with USC. I don't think we'd call them a rival despite the Cali team stuff.

I believe Colorado's only rivalries are their in state game with Colorado State and their manufactured conference rivalry with Utah.

perhaps, I think it's just more local and everything built up as rivalries now, when there are actually only a few true ones, like you mention. The B1G's trophy obsession is part of this.

But I think the big times sometimes feel like everyone thinks they are their rival

Of course they have a trophy.
Are you hating on the $5 bits of broken chair trophy? Cuz that's one of the greatest trophies in CFB.

I encourage anyone not familiar with this trophy to read up on its origins

Those teams don't have the 2 way hate like Michigan and ND do. Ask any ND fan who their most hated rival is and they will say either USC or Michigan.

I don't know, the local ND caller (GoldenDomer) is on a never ending crusade to hate All things Alabama.

Michigan and Penn St have came out as they will not play on Fridays.

Can only imagine ohio state will reconsider and soon this whole plan will fall apart.

It'll be fine... this isn't for the big names in the conference, but the games that would be a noon game on ESPNEWS.

I don't listen to that station any more. Curious about what he's been saying since ND face planted this year. Has he even acknowledged it?

from what I've heard, he doesn't. He instead transfers over to lauding for Urban Meyer.

Doesnt matter who it would be against. High School football is big in this state and Friday nights has always been its own. This would have a negative impact to that.

It's really hard to get a rivalry hate thing going on with Iowa when you've been able to just walk over to Iowa in the next 5 minutes your entire life and a lot of people already had hawkeye merch over here due to the conference split..
