College Football Week 10 - Rudy Can't Fail

I didn't help by throwing away a free point or two by picking MsSt :( Picking LSU this week isn't a throwaway though, they will win!
I just can't see LSU winning. Not a guarantee because of Death Valley night voodoo magic, but LSU has zero passing game. Can't see Bama losing to a team with a one-dimensional offense.

I gamble too much with my picks...maybe if we had money on the line I'd be less prone to picking upsets :P

You need to go with the pros in Vegas that pick these things for a living and are typically very close, and then maybe pick a couple upsets that are borderline. I mean, I'm not winning the pick 'em, but that's how I do it.

At this point in the game most people need to go crazy and pick upsets so they can get points rather than base picks on their actual expectations. The fact that we get MoV points alleviates the need to do that, and increases the risk of gambling even further, but those points are obviously difficult to get anyways.

Also, I added in the people that added their conference affiliations, and dropped players who haven't been playing the last few weeks entirely, which makes for a much tighter race for BEST GAF CONFERENCE

And the Big 12 makes a comeback!

I was picking more upsets or going against the spread in the beginning. I've become more conservative and I'm steadily making my way towards the top. Or maybe more people have stopped with their picks.

Tonight is huge. Win, and 8-4 with a trip to the ACCCG has to be the expectation. Lose, and all bets are off, might not win again this year. I'm nervous.

It's a bye week for my Gamecocks, so here's a picture of Lattimore on what I'm assuming are some military-grade painkillers.

Also, I just realized today that the mascot for Colorado School of Mines is the adorable Blaster the Burro:

Dawwwwwww!

For what it's worth, I voted "no," and, to the credit of the state, only 51% of the people are voting "yes."

SEC country is a little pink. It could be a fun game if the injury risk weren't so high in Football. And the worst NFL team would be hard to determine, unhappy campers.

MNC vs. the pro-bowl squad. Good players that couldn't get out of the game, with no practice or chemistry versus the "best" in College Football. Perfect!

The Poll was asked shortly after Steve Spurrier made this comment.

"Alabama, gosh, they look like they could beat a couple of those NFL teams that I've watched on Sundays," Spurrier said Wednesday on "The Dan Patrick Show." "I think a lot of the oddsmakers out there that usually know what's going on, I'd guess Alabama would be favored by a little bit."

Lots of close ones this week, I guess that is normal for conference play.

having watched a bit of college football only for the last couple of months, I flicked over to NFL yesterday and the standard of play was about 10x better.

NFL dont make anywhere near as many fumbles or incompletions, from what I saw.

I agree with one of the commenters in the article though, Alabama are a very disciplined and well coached team.

Someone hasn't seen the Browns play!

Story

Yeah, I've heard this one before.

While I think Alabama's offensive line could at least match one of the worst offensive lines in today's NFL, Alabama's Running Backs and WR's would get wrecked, as there might only be 2 NFL starter-types in those groupings, and both are 18 years old and would get wrecked right now. Don't think AJ has an NFL arm, but could be a serviceable backup QB for a couple years.

Saban's DB's are good in college, not quite so much in the NFL (holding out hope for Barron though).

Main reason why Alabama's so good in college: They play cohesively as a team while also having alot of raw talent. Not having Face Guarding as a PI foul helps too ;P

Not to say there aren't some really bad NFL teams, or at least really bad units. I don't think I'd want anyone from the NY Jets Offense to play for Alabama. Geez, they suck.

Wouldn't even want the greatest QB in SEC history?

The male female ratio at School of Mines is 4:1. And it's a hardcore geology/engineering school. So I'm sure that burro looks good to them too.

Alabama and Florida coming together.

Like cousins.
