Foods you can't stand.

Potato salad. It's akin to sacrilege seeing as I'm from the south (USA), grew up with mostly black friends (and their families) and it's a staple of family cookouts with every family having their own special recipe but I've always thought it tasted nasty.

German potato salad is pretty good and is nothing like the American version.

Lasagna, kraft mac and cheese, frozen pot pies (the $1 kind)

Growing up eating these things on a weekly basis has put me off of them as an adult. I'd sooner chug hot dog water than eat regular out of the box M&C again.

Strangely i do love velveeta but I'd argue its because I prefer the shell noodles with thicker cheese over elbow noodles in a soup of cheesy milk.

Eggs. So something interesting. When I was a kid my parents used to make us eggs every weekend. I could eat them in everyday imaginable (except runny yolk which is just f'ing gross). Fast forward like 30 years. I can no longer eat eggs. Don't know why? Just the thought of eating eggs makes me gag (yes it is happening as I type this)

It sucks because one of my favorite things to eat would be what they call a whole hog omelet which was a 3 egg omelet with bacon, ham, sausage, and cheese and I can't eat it anymore :(

Can't think of a savory food I don't like. As long as it's cooked well I'll eat it.

But garbage chocolate bars like Mars,Snickers or Cream eggs. 'Food' like that is just disgusting.

Milk chocolate in general is just 😖

having Chinese ancestry and having been to a lot of different countries had made me fortune enough to be able to enjoy most stuff that had been mentioned in this thread. as long as it's prepared in a proper way that's fitting to the style of cuisine it's in, I would probably eat it. I love a lot of different types of mushrooms and I love having offals. I've eaten wild games and seafoods of a wide variety and I love most vegetables and fruits too, and yes that includes durian too. pickled or fermented food are great as well. stuff like stinky cheese, stinky tofu, nato and the such. I've also eaten bugs and insects of different kinds and raw beef and horse too.

I had never tried Kiviak (Nordic food that's basically whole birds stuffed inside a seal and buried in the ground for a long time until it's inside is fermented and you just eat/drink the liquefied flesh) or Surströmming (the "stinkiest food" that is canned fermented hareing) but I'm willing to give those a try if the opportunity presents itself. I may or may not like those but I feel I should at least try them once to see.

I think out of the more common things, the only thing I'm not fond of is raw garlic. I love cooked garlic but raw just doesn't sit that well with me for some reason. I'm fine with raw onion thou so I don't know why garlic is the exception here. licorice is another thing that I'm not into. I would still eat it out of politeness if someone offers it to me, but I definitely won't go out of my way to get it.

Seafood.
Cheese. Always thought it was weird that I could eat pizza but remember a post mentioning the big chain franchises use something called Pizza Cheese which others said isn't real cheese. That at least explained why I always had a harder time eating pizza from non-chain restaurants. Can't stand any type of plain cheese pizza though.
Lasagna, due to the above.
Potato salad, pasta salad, marshmallow salad.
Not big on olives.
Not a fan of pickles on my burgers but can eat them off the side.
Relish.

I had a sweet tooth as a kid, but now can't stand processed chocolate/candy.
Yeah, tastes typically evolve as we get older.

Our taste buds aren't as sensitive compared to when we were young.

Although, I have seen some adults in their 50s claim hummus tastes like dirt, lol 😆

I hate eggs, mayonnaise and most seafood.

I had a terrible experience with steak on a couple of occasions now I refuse red meat.

Chicken for life.

Surprised at some comments here with some vegetable hate. Onions, ginger, garlic - all amazing additions to dishes. Some of you people must hate flavour.
They don't add flavour, they replace flavour.

You know what's funny?

I've never caramelized onions before.

I'm just too impatient for such an endeavor.

Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) and Wurstsalat (sausage salad)... the 2 staples of german salad culture.
I could eat either of them daily

I have nether made germane version I think it has bacon in it. I do make french version from time to time no idea what the american one is like

there are multiple variations within germany. the Schwäbisch variant is pretty common. for that you need a bit of mustard, broth, a tiny bit of nutmeg, pepper, vinegar and oil.

there are variants with mayo, cucumber, onions, garlic... I like ones with mayo and mustard

Olives are REVOLTING, their aroma ruin everything, how anyone could eat that vile shit is beyond me. I couldn't, its repulsive to me.

Eggs, mayo, all seafood, mushrooms, Swiss cheese.

Fuck mushrooms and camomile tea.

Mushroom olives liver.
You're all respectable people for not liking mushrooms.

I don't like the smell, texture, or taste. At least not of your standard variety mushrooms. I can't really speak for more exotic varieties like shiitake and I've never tried them on their own.

Olives are easier to avoid in day to day life but they're horrible as well.

I can eat bugs, surströmming, hakarl, and all manner of wierd stuffs.

But, I can't stomach sweet potatoes of all things, they are just wierd tasting, no matter how you prepare them..

When was the last time you tried them? I didn't like them as a kid but years later I decided to give them another shot, since I'd heard that people often grow to like them as their palate matures. I tried one, thought it was great, and now I have them all the time. Might be you still hate them, fair enough if that's the case, but it could be worth trying one again to see what you think.

I also can't stand milk. Every food I can't stand are things that trigger my gag reflex and even the smell makes me gag. If I'm in the room with cooked eggs or any kind of seafood I have to leave or I'll start gagging until I throw up. I have a very weak stomach. I remember as a kid trying to like milk, since back then remember in the 80s and 90s there were even ads on TV promoting milk "It does your body good." And I tried drinking it with my nose pinched to mitigate some of the flavor. I always thought milk looked good. But every time I tried to drink it I threw it up. Of my most hated foods, I can stomach mushrooms, I just hate the taste. Same with mayo. But I can't even think about stomaching eggs, seafood, or milk.

My tastes have changed over the years, but never for those foods. I used to hate mustard as a kid, but love it now.

There are few foods I won't try or enjoy. For some reason though, Beets make me gag. The sickly-sweet taste of them is just too much.
