Actually it doesn't sounds like that. It sounds like we might have offered Gundy not Strong an while waiting for a decision Strong is thinking about backing out (probably cause he feels like a second option). If Gundy turns us down and Strong decides to stay at Louisville Hart is gonna get fired unless he pulls out a big name out of his ass.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!

So anyone think Bielema has a chance of doing well at Arkansas? Good luck in this division is all I'll say.

Not really. Though they're sending a signal by getting him that they're wanting to focus on defense more. Which is definitely the way to go, in my opinion.

Also Auburn with Malzahn as their new coach should be able to turn things around pretty quickly.

I wouldn't be so sure. Malzahn is a Jay Jacobs guy that they're bringing in so they can control him and the team. His offense relies on misdirection, fast tempo, etc which hurts their defense. If their offense is clicking, the defense will be on the field a lot. If it's not clicking, their defense will be on the field even more.

Malzahn needs a QB like Newton to do anything. They don't have that right now. I think it's a great hire though, for their rivals.

Also forgot the magical word. Sanctions.

Tennessee has offered the Vols head coaching job to Mike Gundy, a source told CBS this morning.

Ugh, if he goes I'll have to hear Fedora to OSU rumors.

Apparently Mario Cristobol is out at FIU. Fired.

Sucks, he was such a hot commodity just a year ago.

Damn, he could of gone BIG. His wife cost him jobs at Pitt and Rutgers.

http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/12/05/52840.htm

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CN) - Rutgers sued the Big East Conference, fighting its $10 million fee to withdraw from the conference, and claiming the Big East owes it millions after failing to charge other schools for leaving the sports league.

edit.

Wouldn't suprise me if he was pimping himself for the USF job. Everybody knows his wife wanted to stay in Florida, and he got Jagd.

Entirely possible that's what happened too. AD didn't want him searching around.

That's what SMU should have done with June Jones. He was basically out the door to Arizona or wherever and they actually took him back when that fell through.

So here is step 1 of what I said was happening. Just wait till he says no, Strong gets pissed says no, and we are left with nothing.

I think your odds of landing Gundy are directly proportional to how big of a dick our AD is... And I've been led to believe he's a pretty big dick.

Edit:
@jjhelsley: Robert Allen on the radio: "I've got some news, Mike Gundy is staying at Oklahoma State... He has made a decision." #okstate
Allen is a program insider/sideline reporter. He would know.

This Butch Jones wait is getting ridiculous... CU needs to just yank the offer and give it to DeRuyter.

You can only afford to say that because UGA is the Brown University of the South.

FTFY

Who does everybody think that Tennessee will actually end up with now that it looks like Strong is going to get a bigger contract at Louisville, and Gundy probably will too at Okie Lite? If they both spurn Tennessee's advances, I think we're starting to get into territory of overachieving coaches at non-BCS programs.

What? What kind of garbage are the illiterate slave state conference reports spouting? Bielema is some kind of defensive genius?

He's like the UF equivalent of Jeff Bowden.

This is actually almost a perfect analogy. Head coach loses his edge, appoints a successor (who's like family to him) without the approval of the AD, lets successor actually run most of the team, spectacularly fails, AD forces head coach to fire successor, and head coach takes his ball and runs home crying rather than comply.

I left out the unretirement to save his assistants' jobs bit, but you get the idea.

So here is step 1 of what I said was happening. Just wait till he says no, Strong gets pissed says no, and we are left with nothing.

Except that Strong should be professional about it, within reason. Gundy is more of a proven commodity.

I came up with two:

College Football 2012-2013 Bowls: Beef O'Brady's Bowl Canceled Due to Apocalypse

College Football 2012-2013 Bowls: Fans Provided By Groupon

Or bluemax can come up with something better.

Thoughts?

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider

We might have to compete with Cal for him. That means we both get banned by Cyan.

Official statement from UNC AD Bubba Cunningham:

Statement from North Carolina Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham:

This time each year there are a number of coaching vacancies in college football and yesterday several rumors included speculation about our own football coach Larry Fedora. Neither Coach Fedora nor I are going to address rumors about individual jobs that are bound to happen each year.

It's been my policy since I have been a director of athletics not to comment or engage in discussions regarding a coach's job until such time that there is a change in a coach's employment status. Speculation about the future employment status of a head coach can be detrimental to an athletic program.
I frequently communicate with our head coaches about what they need to be successful at North Carolina.

Whether a coach is highly successful or under inordinate pressure it has been my policy to keep those conversations confidential and I will continue my policy to not engage in any public discussion or speculation regarding employment. We work together to provide the best opportunities for our coaches and student-athletes.

Both sound fine. Leave bluemax alone, this is your decision. :p

I saw that. Tf? Does fiu have an over inflated sense of how good they should be? I thought Cristobol was well regarded in the coaching circles, and actually showed loyalty by staying there last year.

Either the trolling is too subtle for me to notice, or there's not enough trolling.

On one of the sports radio shows today, an Auburn fan referred to his school as "Harvurn" without any touch of irony.

That is great.
