Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
Army's Nike Combat unis are nice.

Here's the real scoop.

After contemplating going to Cal, Kyle Flood decided against taking them up on their offer.

He feels that Rutgers has better facilities, recruiting grounds, & cash flow.

Plus, the tradition of Rutgers is second to none. Rutgers is the first team to win a national championship, and played in the first college football game. That's tradition that is unrivaled. It in fact makes the Rutgers job superior to Alabama or USCw.

Kyle Flood has such a low salary at Rutgers because he realizes that the Rutgers job is so great that you don't get paid by Rutgers to coach there. You pay Rutgers for the right to coach at such a historic institution.

rutgers had a negative cash flow and also boasts the longest national championship drought for programs with a championship

The best program out of the 3 is under imminent sanctions, so it's not too surprising. Still, I'm glad he didn't go to Tennessee. He'd be much better than whoever they end up with, most likely.
True, but many said no way we could up his money to SEC levels. His new deal is rumored to be over $4 mil a year. I think the wave of SEC coaching jobs is now over for a few years with other big programs in great shape, so he'll be here a while.

The last name is pronounced PEW-zee. I knew a family with this name in HS. :-/

Typical Gaffer, claiming to know Pusey back in high school.

Glad to see another decent redesign. Most that we have gotten this year have been terrible

And what is this about Alvarez coaching the Rose?

Sounds like petty jealousy from a fan of an inferior school like Auburn!

Edit: Holy shit! On a whim I looked at mcgruber's post history. Like 10-20% of his posts are just bashes on Rutgers.

Wow...

Did you go to BC?

Tennessee has a new leader. Vols Jr DB Byron Moore has taken the cause to twitter.

@bmoore3vfl: forgoing my senior year to become head coach at the university of tennessee

This one just made me laugh.
@ErikAinge3: If we can't get a damn coach out of Louisville then I'm gonna freak the hell out! This is Tennessee not MTSU! I'm sick of this crap!

I just thought he was missing the joke (character ... sorta).

What is there about Rutgers to hate? Except the last two coaches, amiright?

...must be missing something, not sure how BC would be involved in this. I just like picking on you and Rutgers. Insanely overconfident fanbase, always overhyped, etc. kent state was hilarious though.

I like how on wikipedia there are two subsections in Rutgers football history:

1: 1869

2: The Remaining years (1870-2011)

Strong went from 2.2 million a year to just under 4.1 million apparently. I bet he's happy Tennessee wanted him. :lol

Way too much money for him but that is a pretty impressive pay raise and he did it without an agent. I would have liked to have him but he is loyal to the school that gave him his chance and we should have hired him 4 years ago but didn't.

Anyway at this point I think I would rather go the NFL coordinator with previous HC experience route at this point than deal with another Derek Dooley. That or Butch Davis or Bobby Petrino.

Jimbo apparently negotiating with FSU for a new contract. As if he has earned it.. he has years left on his deal and is making nearly $3m. If he signs a new deal make it a stipulation he has to hire an OC who isn't just a puppet.

I swear, Sexton is the best agent in the business.

Fisher's contract had under 5 years left on it. That's a bad thing from a recruiting standpoint, since kids don't have certainty that the coach will be there for their entire time at the school. That's why they were negotiating it. He might get a slight raise (maybe) but this is more about an extension to help secure recruits.

Also, :jnc at the whole Tennessee situation. Can it get any worse? At some point they may just have to re-hire Dooley...

Basically my take on it. Could be a lot worse (thank Christ it isn't Hue Jackson), but it's not especially exciting. Guess we'll see.

Rumored that we'll get DeWayne Walker as DC. Would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.

For basically every Tech fan that's been disgruntled with Tuberville (and even for most that don't want Tuberville gone yet) for the last couple of years Dykes has been the #1 candidate they'd like to replace him and rumors almost always say that he'd hire a pretty big name for DC.

Did he get fired? Hard to believe a head coach would go to Cal for a coordinator position.

Not that I know much about NMSU but after seasons of 3-10, 2-10, 4-9, and 1-11 I wouldn't be remarkably surprised if him leaving was mutual.

Already desperate enough for Petrino, eh? He's waiting by his phone.

Petrino is begging for the Arkansas State job so Hart better get moving.

He is begging everyone for a job. He will either get the UT job (which I doubt) or he will get some mid major job and win big and get back to BCS level in 2 years.

Tennessee should go after Butch Davis. He was never named in the NCAA's 100+ page report. He was unceremoniously let go by the Heels (although I am glad we have Fedora now) and I feel like he deserves a chance to go out on a high note. Think Butch would do well for Tennessee...now that I think about it, I'm actually hoping they don't get him because he's a hell of a recruiter and could energize UT's recruiting in NC.

Apparently the FIU AD has his eyes on Davis. Not that FIU could compete with a desperate Tennessee at all but that is one of the theories on why he let Cristobol go. I guess the AD and Davis are good friends or somesuch.

I said earlier I would be happy with Butch Davis. There was a rumor a while ago that he was very high on the list of some big time boosters. Considering the boosters are probably going to take over the search after Hart/Cheek dropped the ball he probably has a good chance of getting the job.

A lot of fans seem to be gravitating toward Greg Roman. Which considering how well David Shaw has done and the Harbaugh coaching tree in general being pretty successful might not be a bad choice.

Hart specifically said head coaching experience is very important in the search. We'll get someone nobody expected I'm sure.

Wouldn't even waste my time reading any of the bullshit our idiotic fanbase could come up with, or local media for that matter. GoVolsXtra actually has a poll up right now asking if we should re-hire Fulmer. For fuck's sake News Sentinel.....

I would have been happy with Butch Davis at Arkansas. I wanted a Defensive coach bad and I was worried we were going to hire Briles or Gundy. I think BD could put together a great staff and he shouldn't cost that much either. He was making a little more than Dooley while he was at UNC.

I've heard Roman's name pop up, but I can't see leaving a potential Super Bowl team this late into the season to start recruiting for UT. It would have to be after the 49ers are done in the playoffs which could be as late as early February and that won't work in terms of recruiting etc. Although everyone does believe the the 49ers offense is all Harbaugh and Roman's just the OC in name but isn't actually running anything. Still doubt he would leave right now though.

Interesting destination, simply because Arky State is on a single season coaching streak. Think the last 2 or 3 coaches were there a year, then got promoted to other schools.

Petrino would fit this mold to a T. Coach a season, rehabilitate his image publically (as much as Arky State can), get a job at a bigger school the next year.

Hmm, so Chris Peterson is Alvarez's target right now? He has built something good at Boise State, so I don't know if he'll want to move, but he can step into the Big 10 and be in the second best conference. Soon to be the best in five years once the Big 10 passes the SEC.

Of course we could pass this on as "Chris Peterson is going to another school" yearly rumor.

I was listening to Atlanta sports talk radio this morning (they were one of the few stations that hadn't put Cowherd on in the morning...until this week), and they were trying to come up with the most absurd, yet believable Tennessee coaching rumor, and they settled on George O'Leary.

And now I'm trying to talk myself into thinking that might actually be a good hire, given the options they have left.
