Hmm, so Chris Peterson is Alvarez's target right now? He has built something good at Boise State, so I don't know if he'll want to move, but he can step into the Big 10 and be in the second best conference. Soon to be the best in five years once the Big 10 passes the SEC.

Already been debunked by numerous people last night:

Joe Schad @schadjoe
A source close to Boise State's Chris Petersen said he "can't imagine" the coach leaving for Wisconsin

Matt Hayes @Matt_HayesSN
Just spoke to a source who just spoke to Chris Petersen. He's not interviewing at #Wisconsin

If Petersen ever leaves it'll be for a school like Texas or Oregon

Looks like we missed out on the conference of the century, fellas.

My list for coaches I guess would be:
1. Pat Fitzgerald
2. Mark Dantonio
3. Bronco Mendenhall
4. Petrino
5. Davis

Then after that go NFL coordinator route since the season would be about over by then. That or do what Bama did with Saban and go back to Gruden and give him everything he wanted.

...must be missing something, not sure how BC would be involved in this. I just like picking on you and Rutgers. Insanely overconfident fanbase, always overhyped, etc. kent state was hilarious though.

Wow.

Not sure any of those things could describe the majority of Rutgers posters in this thread.

Feel free to continue to living in your own delusional paranoid bubble though. THOSE RUTGERS FANS ARE COMING TO GET YOU, TAKE YOU OUT OF YOUR BED, AND FORCE YOU TO WATCH NON-STOP GREG SCHIANO PRESS CONFERENCES.

Word coming out that the Butch Jones to CU deal has fallen through and there should be an announcement soon. Time to go after DeRuyter.

Fun watching the rumor mill of Jones going to Tennessee spinning up now.

No Cutcliffe?

No. The man is a great coach but Tennessee is a unique situation where recruiting is so important and Cutcliffe's only flaw is that he hates it and has never had great recruiters on his staff. Although if he came and was able to keep Bray/Hunter/Patterson he would win more games than most would expect and probably turn Bray into a very high draft pick. The problem would be after that he wouldn't really be able to keep up with recruiting against Saban, Richt, SOS, Muschamp, etc.

I think George O'Leary would be a solid addition to Tennessee. Look at those conference championships wherever he goes!

GaTech
UCF
SUNY-Stonybrook

The list goes on!

Well, I don't make much of debunks, but I agree it would be a strange move to see Peterson move to Wisconsin. I would love Bret Bielema forever if it somehow happened, though!

Hahahahaha.

Why would anybody want Butch Davis? Hiring him is basically guaranteeing an NCAA investigation at some point during his tenure. Supposedly he was "clean" at Miami but that's gotta be bullshit. They just haven't yet dug up whatever happened.

That's his wife?!

Holy shit, talk about outkicking your coverage.

No shit. And yeah it's his wife.

I can't wait until the shittalking next year when USCe plays them. The quotes coming out of the OBC will be amazing. Speaking of which, they ended up with UGA and Bama's cushy schedule. They avoid Bama, LSU and A&M next year. I wonder if Spurrier will complain about that like he complained about teams having weak schedules this year.

The SEC is deep and all the teams are amazing so nobody has an easy schedule. Don't you know anything?

Yeah, there's pretty much no way otherwise.

People who know him have said the only schools he'd really think about leaving for would be Cal and Oregon. You'll notice he's not at Cal. :p I think he's holding out for the Ducks if Kelly leaves. And if they just bump up Helfrich, well, he's got a decent thing going at Boise, I doubt he'll be too bothered.

Wow.

Why are you always so overconfident, popo? If there's one thing I've noticed about you, it's that you always think your coach is brilliant, your QB is amazing, and your team will win.

I know you're being facetious, but that is true. It's just some teams have it harder than others. We have LSU this year and we start out with Clempson. I'm planning on making it to Athens for that LSU game. They're going to be really good next year, so definitely not a gimme game.

How about naming the divisions based on (rough) geography?

Any other way is just dumb.

Was just making fun of the fact that 7 teams in the Big 10 have Red as their primary color (and well OSU/MICH are the two teams everybody cares about).

OSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Maryland, Rutgers, Indiana, Minnesota.

But yeah east and west is probably what's going to happen.

I don't know.

It must be the intense amount of emotional energy Rutgers coaches exude during their press conferences where they stand on the podium clenching their jaw for two hours straight.

We will graciously take it and shut up.

I swear you guys better not screw that up

This is actually almost a perfect analogy. Head coach loses his edge, appoints a successor (who's like family to him) without the approval of the AD, lets successor actually run most of the team, spectacularly fails, AD forces head coach to fire successor, and head coach takes his ball and runs home crying rather than comply...

Zook & Jimbo is another good one. Great recruiters, average (at best) coaches. Jimbo got more wins because of the pathetic ACC.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
Well DeRuyter or the San Jose State guy. Seems like DeRuyter actually wants to come to Colorado. Anything to get out of Fresno I suppose.

Calling the hogs.

bielema-calling-the-hogs.gif

This one is amusing, but it doesn't beat the awkwardness of when they called the hogs during the Petrino hiring press conference. Of course, I always thought calling the hogs was awkward unless you were at an event with at least a thousand people.

DeRuyter is who I thought CU should have gone after first. He's coached/recruited in the PAC region and has a penchant for turning around defenses.

I hope we don't. First game of the year has me nervous. If it were in the middle or end of the season I'd be a lot less worried, but Georgia typically starts out pretty poorly with a lot of rust and it takes a few games to get the kinks worked out.

Dana Altman was the most awkward and he didn't even do it.

A few years ago they had Dave Barry (columnist) speaking on campus and they made him do it at the end.

As our resident expert, can you explain if that's how one would really call hogs?

That's because he knew he was making a terrible mistake...which he realized a day later. :p

The way I see it, at least we never ended up being one of those pom pom schools.

I think CU was hesitant for reasons of pride and Cal. But then again, Cal attracted Dykes, so leaves more room in Boulder.

The irony of hiring the man who destroyed our program in a single game.

Fitzgerald is the most overrated coach of all time, plus dont think he'll leave northwestern.
