Only three things can happen, and two of them are bad.

... really?

and now we have to argue about whose coach said that.

Way to go hippie. Now you've done it.

I assume you've watched a North Avenue Trade School game? You're aware that most of their passes are actually laterals to a running back, or a 2 yard dump and that most of their passing yardage is yards after catch? I still stand by the fact that a decent defense can beat them if they stick to their assignments. But, you guys don't have many of those defenses in the ACC.

Most decent ACC defenses actually play them pretty well, its the OOC (non-bowl) games that are the drive their numbers up.

To be fair, Va Tech's is one of the great defenses in the ACC, year in and year out. And you are correct.

I don't know who started that, but I know 2 that have used it! ;P

Yes, we haven't played any super good defenses yet (and won't play a ton in the ACC), but I have been watching the games. I can't help it if the teams we play have all fallen for the same play over and over [ignore the crappy music in the last one, it's the only video I could find). Boy, our receivers must suck since all they catch are 2 yard passes and laterals.

I'm not saying we're unstoppable, it's just that our passing game has gotten crazy better in the last 3 years. I know the instant any team gets more then 1 week to prepare for the triple option we're going to get smoked though. Especially if it's a premiere SEC team.

EDIT: And why the hate for the "North Avenue Trade School" name? It's part of the schools history and a funny little fact.

Who knows with Wisconsin, though. We haven't played a real game yet this year. Offense looks good, but I'm uncertain of the defense, both with the injuries in the secondary and that we haven't faced a running QB yet this season.

If Wisconsin can put points on the board early and force Nebraska to throw it will be a blow out. They struggle against athletic QB's though. So ya, definitely nervous.

I'm not saying your receivers suck, Calvin Johnson came from there. I'm saying your QB's don't have to do much. What predicates any success in your medium-long passing game is that your triple option is working. If a team eliminates that, their passing game becomes nonexistent.

Last week was hard against a top program like NDSU, but this week we've got the Michigan cupcake factory. Easy win, 37-17. Over under 3 seizures from Jerry.

The Badgers are a second tier B1G team. Always will be.

Some of us don't know every facet of every little trade school's history. :P

Carry on.

Stop ducking St. Cloud St.! (My money would be on the Huskies)

Minnesota is a third rate Division II program. Always will be.

Remember the time the Badgers won the NCAA championship in football? Me neither.

Holy Crap I look away for 3 hours and the thread is 3 pages long.

Anyway, here's hoping my Cats can rebound and put up a fight against LSU. And not let LSU run up the score too much.

God I hate this.

Realistically, they both hinge on each other. In Paul Johnson's perfect world, they are both equal threats. From what I have seen of GT thus far, you are completely correct. The passing numbers are inflated just because the Triple Option has given teams a lot of trouble. I really want to see what the team does when the Option gets stopped in it's tracks. It'll be an incredibly interesting game to watch, and probably incredibly painful to watch also.

Oh, and yeah, Calvin Johnson was fucking boss at GT. He was the only reason Reggie Ball (referred to by my UGA friends as "UGA's MVP) looked any good. Throw a ball within 10 feet of him, and he was going to catch it. I'll still never forget that game in Clemson when he got the last second catch.

Not you sir! The way it was typed by andycapps (and my brain read the initial comment) made it sound out to be a slur somehow. I was just asking how. Also, I hate how you can't get inflection across on the internet.

Hey, at least you bothered to show up. FSU fans are gone already, smothering their pain with a bottle of whiskey and pictures of football players without their shirts on, wondering where it all went wrong.

The Gophers have won a football championship? Serious??

Not sure if sarcastic but since 1900 they've won 7 with the most recent in 1960.

Bah. If you're a fan you got to be able to take the good with the bad, and as a UK fan we've had a whole lot of bad. I just have to wait a couple weeks then I can talk shit to y'all in the college hoops threads. Sorta like the 'Bama fans are doing in this one. (I'm looking at you MRE and Lonestar lol)

WVU fans assaulted 4 LSU fans at game

MORGANTOWN -- According to the Morgantown Police Department, four Louisiana State University fans were assaulted following Saturday’s football game at West Virginia University.
It happened in the Purple Lot as the fans were leaving in their vehicle headed toward Route 705, police said in a news release. That’s when an unidentified person threw a rock through the open window of the victim’s car. When the driver asked a group of people standing nearby if they threw the rock, police say the group approached the car and assaulted the driver.
The driver’s wife and two other people in the car got out and were also assaulted, according to police. They sustained minor injuries.
The driver was transported to Monongalia General Hospital for treatment and later transferred to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for surgery.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Morgantown Police Department at 304-284-7454 or the West Virginia University Police at 304-293-2677.

Minnesota claims 1960 as a national championship...despite losing in the Rose Bowl.

Fucking Gophers, man. Jesus.

The Vikes are also the 1969 NFL Champions. Technicalities-schmechnicalities.

Shame Mauti out for the season again. Hopefully Nate Stupar can keep doing things.
Losing Mauti is bad. We also learned that Bolden just can't get a rhythm with offense. Everytime he is out there, things chug along, while McGloin had good performance (albeit against Eastern Michigan). JoePa better put an end to this 2 QB situation and just pick one.

really no one should be, especially if you've been to morgantown..went once, never again, I hate going to commonwealth but never had any serious issues

I'm down with that. Counting that way gives the Packers an extra championship. Man, I can't even count how many they've won.

Not sarcastic. My one sports blindspot is NCAA football pre WWII.

While looking for the Minnesota championships, I saw something hilarious.

I love how Princeton and Yale have won 28 and 26 "national championships" respectively, but neither has won one since 1935 (except for Princeton winning one in 1950).

And then you have Alabama who decided to take a nice 19 year break from winning due to some stellar head coach hires.

Also looks like we have a stealth nose picker in there...

Morgantown is terrible....that's all there is to say about it.

As for the trip to commonwealth, we're no where near WVU fans as far as sheer stupidity and dickish behavior goes.

Really looking forward to the Wiscy game, although not looking forward to the result :( My early guestimate is 35-20 in favor of Wiscy. I can't drink the Kool-aid on this one.

I am an admitted fair weather basketball fan. If the Tide starts to shit the bed, my interest is gone. Last year I caught about 15 games or so, and I am really looking forward to this year.

I used to claim some affinity for NCSU's basketball program until that woman decided to kill it off by hiring Gottfried.

My first thought was:

"only 4?"

MRE and myself are just filling in the topic with background noise. If not for us, this is a 2 page topic filled with Wine and Cheese talk.

Alabama is on the rise as far as basketball is concerned. Y'all were unbeaten at home last year and have picked up some decent recruits. Grant has the team going in the right direction.

I really want to believe Wiscy is as good as they've looked, but it's so hard to judge the level of teams that have only played cupcakes to date. If I had to bet, I'd put my money on them, but not without real reservations.

I totally agree. You can't judge a team that's only played cupcakes. Even if that team is 1-3.

I am quite offended by the OP, and actually the whole first page of the thread. Leave aggie alone!

Also this is my pickem reservation post, since that seems like the cool thing to do now

I agree completely. Which is why I caught 15 games on TV. Thanks to Gottfried, however, I don't have much tolerance for losing and will continue to follow the results of games but will stop watching if we start to lose again. That said, Coach Grant has me excited for the season this year and I can't wait for it to tip off!

*sniff sniff*
Is someone talking College BBall? I have something of more than a passing interest in the sport.

Anyway, there are rumors that FIUs starting QB and WR might be missing this Saturday's game.....we have a chance for a 3 game winning streak. If they play, we're going down in flames.
