Fucking Gophers, man. Jesus.

Guess who beat them?! Clearly, that means we were the champs.

and now we have to argue about whose coach said that.

Way to go hippie. Now you've done it.

June Jones would argue that all three are good, depending on the situation.

Is someone talking College BBall? I have something of more than a passing interest in the sport.

Anyway, there are rumors that FIUs starting QB and WR might be missing this Saturday's game.....we have a chance for a 3 game winning streak. If they play, we're going down in flames.

See you in New York ;) (well, not really, because I don't have the money or vacation time to go, but the idea remains the same)

Truly, we'll be able to talk hoops soon enough, Truly.

To be fair, bowl games were not viewed in the same way as they are now. They were viewed more as exhibition games rather than meaningful games. Now, after saying that, we claim a 1960 National Championship because we did beat Minnesota in the Rose Bowl (and because the Helms Athletic Foundation says so).

Oh SbB's...
He really is trying too hard. I think he's getting madder and madder that no one is paying him any attention.

I agree completely. Which is why I caught 15 games on TV. Thanks to Gottfried, however, I don't have much tolerance for losing and will continue to follow the results of games but will stop watching if we start to lose again. That said, Coach Grant has me excited for the season this year and I can't wait for it to tip off!

Lucky for you Gottfried coaches at one of your other centers for high learning now.

A couple of quotes about the WVU fans at the LSU game:

"I am the mother of a young man that was beaten severely Sat night after the football game, LSU/WVU. He, his five mth pregnant wife and two customers were assaulted after the game for no apparent reason. A rock flew into their car. Then someone came to their car and starting beating my son in the face. Three guys pulled him from the car and beat him. He is now in the hospital waiting for swelling to go down so they do surgery. The bones under his eye are crushed, his nose will be rebuilt and the fractured frontal bone will have to heal on it's own. He wife, five months pregnant, was slammed to the ground. The two men with them had visible signs of having been in a fight and torn clothes but didn't have to have medical attention. It's quite a shame that there are people like that are loose on the streets. I pray that they are caught and punished accordingly."

Read this also:

One of WVU's regular posters (he even gave his seat location, yikes!) said that he witnessed another MALE attacking a FEMALE because she was cheering for LSU. Additionally, witnessed two people call a family from LSU the "N Word". He was embarrassed by this behavior, as well he should be. When he indicated that this type of behavior made him not want to go to home games anymore the very next poster said, "Can I have your tickets?"

Wow. What a pathetic fucking fanbase, I've read so many stories about that in Morgantown, and it's seriously getting to be a situation where you may get seriously hurt just being a fan there. It's fucking pathetic. I would have not had one ounce of a problem if a WVU fan does that to someone again, the person pulls heat and puts a bullet in their skull. Brutally beating a future father to be and attacking a pregnant woman? What pathetic pieces of shit.

I am an admitted fair weather basketball fan. If the Tide starts to shit the bed, my interest is gone. Last year I caught about 15 games or so, and I am really looking forward to this year.

I used to claim some affinity for NCSU's basketball program until that woman decided to kill it off by hiring Gottfried.

Sports by Brooks.

He's attacking Trent Richardson's Mother, on the basis that she's rented a car and moved from Florida to Alabama, and obviously couldn't afford to do either (well, not obviously, he's got no records of her income or anything like that...)

I hope you also see the underlying information in that.

Why do you think the SEC DOESN'T want them? Pieces of filth.

Damn, and I thought it was bad here at Maryland when a fan flipped off a 5 year old. That story's just frightening.

Indeed. I'm not sure what sports group, besides maybe some CA baseball fans, are near this level.

Remember when the WVA administration thought West Fucking Virginia was the worst stain on its credibility? That was fun and cheeky.

This is sad and depressing.

Whats most suprising to me is that Trent has a 5 year old kid. I did not know that.

Well, also in CFB, there was the Texas guy who tried to rip an Okie fan's nuts off. Or possibly vice versa.

Vice versa.

Also, a sooner came at a longhorn with a knife, the longhorn had stitches, the sooner was in intensive care.

Sports by Brooks going off about a story that has no basis of truth? Colored me shocked, go look at all the bs He spewed about Osu over the summer.

Came for the A&M jar. Leaving satisfied.

Wait...

Missing the list eater.
Now there was a good time to be on campus. "She is right with her Lord!"

Also, the third pic in the OP looks to be a group of fish (freshmen cadets), so it's probably just some "hazing" that doesn't really go on. Also pretty sure I was at that game, Tech took the lead with 17 or so seconds during the year they had that stupid "clock starts after the kickoff" rule.

Is there time to change the A&M-Arky game to the Southwest Classic-Southeast Preview?

So no change at all, basically.
Pretty much, but I don't like that this means some SEC west teams won't play each other.

Edit: Except for TAMU who apparently plays everyone. Jesus Christ. Fuck that school.

Nice of them to leave late November open for us. Now we just need BYU to join the Big 12 so that their home-and-home with Texas becomes a conference game, so there'd be only one year off in the rivalry. Even with a brutal SEC slate, that game needs to be played.

Nah. You want to play a shitty Texas team this year and beat 'em, then not play them ever again, and just keep holding it over them.

Ok, so earning permanent bragging rights at Kyle Field while the War Hymn is sung into the late hours of the night would be fine, too.

Apparently this is the provisional SEC schedule: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B7...ODkwYy00MDg0LWI5YWYtOWQ0NWQzMzJjNzhm&hl=en_US

Looks like Bama drops off Ole Miss and picks up TAMU.

That would be a nasty schedule the first year (but would make for alot of really good road trips which may be the point).... but that second year would sell out instantly before next year when all those away games turn into home games.

Hopefully both lsu and bama would not be away/home in the same year after this initial schedule and the 14th school comes in.

Do Gophers fans still remember what Paul Bunyan's Axe looks like anymore? Slo you can get another glimpse for about 3 hours later this year!

Strange that UF/Bama and Wiscy/Nebraska games are going head to head. I figured one of them would be a 3:30 game.

Texas already beat BYU this year.

edit: nvm, you're talking about TAMU

I hate when bloggers/reporters/anybody says that crap. When Patrick Patterson came to Kentucky after his second year he was rolling around in some really nice car, and everyone was saying that boosters bought it. Turned out his mother had been saving for years, and with the knowledge that Pat was going to be drafted as a (horribly stupid) insurance policy, bought him a nice car (used).

People need to stop talking crap about stuff when they really have no idea what's going on.

Nasty schedule? If it is true you got Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy, and State all in one year that is about as least nasty as we can get.

Hey man, Kentucky football is on the RISE. :/

Are there any Syracuse fans here for me to smack talk?

Edit: I'm pumped about TAMU in the SEC. I think they will show those southern folks true emotional energy, Aggy style.

College Football, Serious Business.

Beating the shit out of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers "Fictional Cocks" was very serious business for the attendees of the UGA watch party at Mellow Mushroom in Denver two weeks back. They were standing and cheering for the final touchdown to make the score 59-0. Winning is fun and the Aggies aren't going to have much of that in the SEC.

How dare the AP vote a better LSU team ahead of my Sooners?

Whoa dude, where did this come from?

All I was saying is that fans actively shooting, stabbing, beating, and maiming each other is too far.
Edit: Take your rage that A&M is leaving you behind for a better conference out on Okie State or something.

mre said:

The best part about being a fan of a shitty team is that every once in a while you beat a #1 LSU in triple overtime and can act like a jackass afterwards.

Oh, and Greg Reid has been arrested for purjury and (non-violently) resisting arrest. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/coll...6/greg-reid-florida-state-arrested/50560628/1

The police report said Reid, 21, was trying to protect a friend from his hometown of Valdosta, Ga. The friend, Rontrel Frazier, was being pursued for forcefully resisting arrest after being stopped earlier by police while riding a scooter owned by the Seminole defensive back. During questioning, Reid signed a sworn written statement that was false, police said, despite being told beforehand that he would be guilty of perjury if he failed to answer truthfully.

Fucking SCOOTERS strike again! Goddammit.

The report says that his friend was pulled over on the scooter, and that at 2:30AM the police called Reid and told him to come down to the station because they "had his scooter". They didn't give him any other details. When he got to the gas station they were at to give a sworn statement, he said something that the cop thinks was a threat towards him and his family for some reason...

Ok, that makes more sense.

It wasn't at all clear what you were referring to in the original post.

Edit: And there has been zero rage from anyone here about them leaving. We're all laughing at them, and wondering how the hell they're gonna even make the Cotton Bowl in the SEC.

And did they ever. Probably the worst I have ever been treated after a game in my life.
