Aggy has an army dude (Sarge?) and a dog. And they are fightin farmers.

Maybe they belong in the SEC.
Hey, good point! I forgot about that. Ok, we can add Aggy Dogs to the list.

Maybe they'll fit in ok after all.

See, there's another one!

Ok, we've got the War Eagle Tigers. The Bayou Bengal Tigers (well ok, Bengal is a type of tiger...). The Crimson Tide Elephants. The Volunteer Dogs.

A third of the SEC doesn't understand how mascots work.

Oh, almost forgot the South Will Rise Again Bear. Any more I'm missing? Is Georgia's bulldog secretly also a red-tailed hawk?

Ugh I just realized we fall into this, but we actually sell edible versions of our mascot at our stadium. game on sec.

True, some of us understand how the mascot thing works, we just can't get a bulldog to live long enough to be our mascot. :jnc

But why does what happened in your lifetime have any more relevancy than anything else?

By your logic, what happened when I was 2 has nothing to do with what Texas is doing today. Hell, what Texas did last year has no bearing on todays team given the coaching changes.

College Football powers are built on legacy and tradition, which means you go back to the history of the program. Of course there are old powers that fell by the wayside, but there are a number that have been consistently great for a very very long time. They have all had down periods, but that's the history of the program.

To mix my sports metaphors, the Yankees aren't the Yankees because of George S. They are the Yankees because you can go back 100 years and look at the most dominant team in US pro sports.

What happened when you are 2 has much more of an effect on current conditions than what happened before you were born imo.

The lifetime gives it somewhat of a limit.... but also allows history to have an effect for most people (hence my limit on your lifetime).

Your logic does not take into account recent successes that can be as dominant as any "historic power" but because they didn't win 50 yrs ago in your eyes they can't be as good as any historic power.... I don't buy that.

You really have no faith in the K-State Defense vs Baylor...

I wonder if gameday will be in Lincoln or Gainesville next week. My bet is if the gatas when this week theyll go there, if not theyll go to Lincoln.

Sorry, Miami is no Alabama or USC. Never will be.

You can come up as a power, and even get to be very well respected but in a sport where players turn over every 4 years and coaches tenure isn't much longer than that, I really think legacy and dynasty is the litmus test you have to look at.

Besids, a lot of those teams in the 80s that came out of nowhere did it through dubious means, and as often as not, those "new powers" turn into flash in the pan schools that lose their amazing coach to a big program or get slapped around by the NCAA and disapear just as fast as they appeared.

Next week or Saturday?

My guess if if Texas and Okie both win, they will be in Dallas next week.

Florida winning might throw that off, but I don't think that's going to happen. Nebraska will also lose this week.

Nebraska-OSU would have the novelty factor, but usually they go for matchups between two top teams.

You think they'll go right after they were just in Madision? Wisconsin - Nebraska will be much more relevant to the B1G title game than OSU-Nebraska.

I would assume CBS would have first dibs on the gata-LSU game, right? Doesn't Gameday only go to games broadcast on ABC/ESPN?

Don't they usually go where the ABC Saturday Night game is? I know there's been a couple of exceptions, so I don't know if it's a rule.

edit: The OSU/Nebraska game is the ABC Saturday Night game next week.

Typically. I remember SEC fans really bitching about this a couple years ago.

Gameday certainly has a love for the UF/LSU matchup. I was a bit surprised they weren't coming to Gainesville this week though. The LSU game is in Baton Rogue, FYI.

Yeah, CBS already has that game at 8pm.

It's possible with it being UNLs first home B1G game, I forgot the red river shootout is that weekend too, now that I think about it that could be the stop.

They tend towards ABC/ESPN games but will go to a few SEC locations throughout the year just to not appear like they are totally ignoring the SECs big matchups. But they tend to try and not pimp a CBS broadcast.

And NU/OSU is the national game of the week because Texas/OU is always a day game.

We're supposed to do a pink out this week in the shoe, dont think ill be following along.

Alright, this pink for breast cancer thing has gone too far. Whose awareness are they raising at this point?
If you aren't aware by this point, its your own damn fault.

Yeah, it feels decidedly insensitive to say so, but I agree.

Insensitive to what? My aunt had breast cancer, and my great aunt died of it. I get that its important to check out, and that its tragic to get it, but great googly moogly, what the hell is pinking out the shoe going to do?

"Awareness" has, for whatever reason, become an end in and of itself.

Some sorority wanted to do a Pink out at Bill Snyder Family Stadium vs Mizzou... I'd said it's stupid as well.

I say we do the regular Purple Out like we always do, which stands for testicular cancer.

I think if we win this year we'll even out the all time series.

You know, the thing that kills me is K-State was good when the Big 12 started and I was fine with struggling with them. It's after they sucked that they started kicking our asses.

I'm going to wear purple to the Illinois/Northwestern game this weekend just for claviertekky.
Will that be a yellow and blue shirt underneath in case Northwestern loses the game?

At the beginning of the season, I thought we had that one again, now if your QB situation and team settles down, I can see it not being that way. I like my wildcats, but I'm also realistic. We aren't that proficient of offense and way to one dimensional at times. We also have Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Texas in a row. I'd be happy at 7-5 with that schedule.

Titties should be saved, though. Sweet, glorious titties.

yeah we have enough pink outs in womens sports. seems like every other women's basketball game is a pink out.

Southern schools don't have their actual mascot represented by their mascot because there are only so many Confederate reenactors, even in the South.
