I mean Kirkman has said that this group will eventually just not be anymore and new characters will take over...He's probably still toying with that idea.

I thought he said a long time ago that this was Rick's story and would end with Rick?

Guess we both heard conflicting stories because I swear I read him saying that eventually everyone from the original group will just die and whoever they've brought along at that point will be Main Group V.2

Yeah. I've heard him say he could kill off Rick and the story would continue. No one character is safe.

Also, and don't like to pimp stuff often, but want to help a friend with his Stan Lee Foundation submission so if you enjoy his work, can you vote for it? :)

I think I'm down with GL:EW after this issue. I love the art, but Guy just doesn't interest me as a character at all (and neither does Sodam Yat for what it's worth), and I'm really not all that interested in the War of the Green Lanterns arc coming up either. Maybe if they do something drastic and have Guy
fully become a Red Lantern
, I'll come back to it.

-edit-

Nice little twist in Flash this month. I think when they showed the preview most people assumed the dead old man was
Ralph Dibny from an alternate timeline, which wasn't the case, it was an aged Elongated Kid
. I'm curious to see where Johns is going with the Hot Pursuit angle after the reveal of who is under the helmet.

After being largely disappointed with UA, Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates feels like a return to form. If the first issue is any indication, then this will be the real Ultimates 3. Really enjoyed it, can't wait for the next one.

Amazing Spider-man was fantastic this week, and my pick of the week. It was touching, and moving all at once, and then the back up was probably one of the best I've read.

The Flash was another fun issue this week. I will give up my first born for Manapul to do more art!

I enjoyed the beginning of Batman and Robin even if it was a little weird, and as far as I can tell didn't have a pay-off really.

I've been a fan of Generation Lost since the first issue and it continues to impress me, I'm really a fan of Winick between this series and the Under the Red Hood dTV.

The rest of the stuff was good, but nothing really to say I guess.

Couldn't agree more about ASM, it's just been on a roll lately. I'd put it with Birds of Prey as my pick of the week.

The problem with Birds of Prey, is that we've seen how well planned this was, so the cliffhanger really doesn't leave me shocked. I don't expect it to stick really.

Well if I remember right it's not even a traditional cliffhanger.
Didn't they say in the first issue of this arc that
it's Barbara's plan to kill the name/idea of Oracle and essentially start over fresh? It's not Babs herself thats dying just the Oracle persona
.

The Venom backup was pretty goddamn incredible. So looking forward to it.

Tony Moore is doing art on the monthly right?
I really like the idea of the gov't using the symbiote as a weapon though, nice way to re-imagine the character.
Is anyone else reading the Carnage mini?

He is. They packed so many ideas and introduced so many great things for Flash to play with. And if Uncanny X-Force is any indication, Remender will do a bang up job. Can't wait to see where he takes it.

That's what I though, I'm a huge fan of Moore's work. Plus it's cool to see another quasi-local guy make it big in the industry (along with David Mack and Kirkman).

Yeah it really was.

I know was one of the few people who liked the idea of the new Venom when they revealed the identity, but how it was executed makes me all the more excited for it.

Whoa. Osborn #3 was pretty intense, took me back to Ellis' Thunderbolts. Great mood they're building. Rios' style is a bit rough in places, but when she dials up the 70s manga influence it's like moody Euro meets Fist of the North Star. Between her & guys like Francavilla on Black Panther, Marvel's getting some really interesting new indie style artists lately.

Okay, I haven't read everything yet but I don't know how Knight & Squire #5 can't be my book of the week. It was so wonderful. Who else does a book where the heroes spend their time encouraging the villain to commit crimes to cheer him up?

I know there's a looong wait before they put it out in softcover trade but I'll be getting his Luthor Action Comics. Word of mouth + Knight And Squire makes me a believer.

I would love that if true. Rick is my least favorite character now. He just doesn't seem like a real person anymore.

Especially after seeing his Joker in the last issue of Action Comics, god that would be so good.
Who is Action focusing on when the Luthor arc is over?

It was some time ago so take it with a grain of salt, but I think I read in a interview that it was supposed to come back to Supes but still written by Cornell.

It's definitely Superman in 900 and on. =(

Yes I used a =(

On another note, it was so good to see Jimenez on the Legion this week. I had the luck of having lunch with Phil a few years back, and he told me that besides WW, his dream book was Legion of Superheroes.

So happy for him. Great guy, cute as hell.

No offense to Superman fans, but eh, guess I'll be dropping the book then.

Even if it's Cornell on writing duties? MADNESS!

My love for Cornell isn't strong enough to overcome my lack of interest in Superman. I'll give it a shot, but I don't expect it stay a monthly read for me.

I'd say read 900, at least.

Yeah I'm planning on picking up 900, we'll see where it goes from there. If anyone can write a Superman I'll find interesting, it's Cornell.

I'm telling you now. You're making a huge mistake by doubting him. He'll make you believe a man can fly.

On another note, the excellent Venom backup was excellent. I'm in for the long haul.

That should be on the cover of the book or in a press release. "Starting with Action Comics 900, Paul Cornell will make you believe a man can fly!"
It's not that I doubt Cornell, it's a lack of interest in the character, but as a Cornell fan I'm going to give it a shot.

Yep, same here. When they announced the creative team I had high hopes and it looks like they'll be be realized.

I've liked Cornell since MI-13, but Knight & Squire is like all the charm of that book x a billion. He might be one of those guys that fits better at DC than Marvel.

The current issue has
the Joker
in it, btw.

Just saw the May solicits for Batman and I'm a bit confused. I thought Tomasi/Gleason were the new team for the book but May's solicit has it written by Judd Winick and drawn by Guillen March and it's the first issue of a three book arc. Are Tomasi/Gleason only there for this current arc?

surprised at so little talk @ Diamond Digital. could be huge.

I've really been enjoying it so far, I wish it came about a bit more frequently, but what can you do.

it's better than expected, and certainly going better than toxin so far. gonna have to see how it ends to say if its worth it for more than just maximum carnage/90s throwbacks though, heh.
