Pittsburgh Comic Con was pretty nice.
Thanked Gary Friedrich for creating Ghost Rider again. I gotta stop going stupid around him and maybe one of these days ask how he came up with the character.
Dexter Vines, Arvell Jones, Tom Schloendorn, and Wayne Faucher were really friendly sharing tips, techniques, and stories. Arvell Jones told me the story of how his father essentially tricked him into drawing comics and ended up in the industry. Good times.
Ron Frenz tried to get me to ask an anime cosplayer if the carpet matched the drapes. Maybe I should have been smarter and negotiated a free sketch out of it. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. >:|
Phil Jimenez was super nice and doing free sketches for folks. It was fun watching him tell some of the more OCD fans to calm down and let him do his thing. Really, really funny. Also he has some great opinions on Wonder Woman as a character and generally is a cool guy. While I was waiting for my buddy who was in line he cranked out Thor, Emma Frost, Spider-Woman, and Spiderman sketch covers and a Black Cat for my buddy.
Picked up a bunch of trades and filled in more gaps in the Kamandi run. Got a sweet Spiral full color drawing from Dave Perillo for a meager $10!
Joe Jusko cancelled and I didn't know Hannibal King was there!
I was also bummed to hear Devil's Due has nothing happening with the Spooks series. I really enjoyed that book.
But Tim Vigil is working on a new issue of Faust - so dongs and demons for everyone!
My buddy also got a really sweet Black Cat illustration from Archie artist Dan Parent.
All in all it was a good fun day.
The Hooters down the road also has some talented wait staff. :3
