That Green Lantern cover looks a heck of a lot like the cover for Blackest Night #6. Kudos for the phallic lantern thrust in readers' faces though.

I like the sleeker Iron Man look, it was time to update Granov's design. My personal all-time favourite is the Silver Centurion design from the 80s:

If they're going to do this good ol' days "Age of Heroes" thing I would have liked to see more elements of the classic Iron Man faceplate come back.

Received Dark Avengers vol.1 for belated Christmas gift.

Okay! :P

Enjoy it, after that the series loses focus and never really gets back to where it was in those issues.

Hmm next U(C)SM is penciled by Miyazawa, should be a nice one issue break from Lafuente while keeping in the same general vein of artwork (as in more "kiddish").
I really loved his work in Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and I'm looking forward to his UCSM work. BTW he'll be doing 2 issues.

Yeah, to be honest I really didn't have an interest in this outside of Deodato's artwork. When my shop owner revealed the line-up I thought FUCKIN' DUMB! :|

Oh well, blew $13 more dollars at comic shop today. :X

Blake Lively has nabbed the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in Warner Bros.' "Green Lantern."

Lively will play Carol Ferris, who runs her father's aerospace company and hires cocky test pilot Hal Jordan (Reynolds), who later becomes the intergalactic policeman Green Lantern. In the comics, the romance became complicated when an alien race bestowed her the power of a crystal called the Star Sapphire.

The search for the Martin Campbell-directed film's leading lady was almost as intense as the one for its title star. Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner were reportedly among those in the mix for the role.

The role called for a slightly older actress but Lively, who stars in the CW's "Gossip Girl," impressed the studio and filmmakers with her audition. Warners was also impressed with her work in "The Town," its adaptation of the gritty Chuck Hogan novel directed by Ben Affleck now in post-production.

The casting process will next turn its eye to the roles of Dr. Hector Hammond, one of the key villains, and the alien known as Sinestro.

Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti are producing the big-budget sci-fi movie, which is scheduled to shoot in Louisiana in March with an eye towards a June 17, 2011 release.

The script was written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green, with Michael Goldenberg currently rewriting.

Lively is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

I really hope the GL movie doesn't suck, I was such a huge fan growing up.
It would be almost as sad as a bad DareDevil movie... :'(

Blake Lively and Marc Guggenheim? My hope is dwindling.

please say Guggenheim has nothing to do with the film.

just wanted to say: Hellboy is awesome, be sure and check out B.P.R.D. if you like it as well, really underrated book/series of minis. also, i really should give Haunt a proper go, or do something while waiting for Ultimate X (ugh, Loeb) to be gone and Blackest Night to tie up already.

Kinda LTTP but I haven't loved a comic this much in ages.

I was bored and waiting for a friend so I hit the LCS and picked up SPIDER-MAN & THE SECRET WARS #1.

Did anyone else catch this gem? It takes me back to when I loved every one of these characters at a tie in their story that I waited breathlessly for the next chapter.

The writing is fun but still feel like the time in question. The art is light but with some solid storytelling. I had never heard of Patrick Scherberger but I'm a fan now.

Next issue hits on Jan 13, 2010 and I'm salivating. Too bad its only 4 issues. I'd stay in this timeline and setting for good.

Looks like same team on DOCTOR DOOM AND THE MASTERS OF EVIL #1 too!

EDIT: Latest New Mutants is all sorts of awesome too.
Excelsior!
