It's been a year since DC relaunched, rebooted, and unmarried the DC universe to pesky relationships. The next minor step is a month break with zero issues, taking the characters and stories back a bit to further develop the new continuity and details across the board.

We're having a new Green Lantern who isn't afraid to shoot people when his ring won't let him imagine a gun to shoot people. A phantom stranger who likes to invite people to the back of his van for candy treats.

Sword of Sorcery is a double feature starring Amethyst in the main story by Christy Marx and Tony Bedard has a back-up featuring Beowulf in a futurist apocalyptic splenderific tale.

There's even a Talon who freed himself from the Court of Owls to become another batverse book.

Guarding the Globe #1 from Image jumping off from the Guardians of the Globe miniseries that happened half a year or so ago, an Invincible spin-off starting people who punch things, but written by Phil Hester.

New 52 Firestorm appears to be a Ronnie/Jason combo.

I've been reading Flash but only issue 7-10 so far, they don't really talk about Barry knowing about pre new 52 stuff, not sure about that either.


Also, Dark Horses digital store which people don't always frequent has a BPRD Hell on Earth sale on the first 26 issues worth of minis.

definitely:

Justice League Dark, i like the team and content, Jeff Lemire is doing a great job on the book since taking over and Frankenstein is joining the team who seems perfect.

Dial H: it's crazy and has its own story to tell, but i'd read from issue #1, it's only on 4 now.

if it looks neat to you: Animal Man and Swamp Thing combo, it's been a long road and a bit slow, but it's hard to ignore.

Green Lantern: if you liked GL before Brightest Day, give it another shot.

Most complaints about wonder woman boil down to disappointment that the character herself isn't more prominent in the book. Most people I know (real life, not internet) entered the series with zero emotional attachment to wonder woman herself and have come away enjoying it.

If you're a fan of damien, and bat-books in general, read batman and robin.

first issue of the new arc of batwoman (#12) was ridiculously good and it was solid before that too.

Demon knights: demon knight demon knights demon knights please buy 50 copies because the sales are poor and i shall be sad if it's cancelled it's awesome but not really a superhero book

i vampire: my friend who's still buying it swears it has recovered from the mediocre crossover with jl dark and is awesome again.

aquaman is enjoyable and no one knows how it happened.


Also, I agree with everything sillymonkey said.

Listen to this man! Demon Knights is so fucking good every month. Also, Frankenstein needs some lovin'. Both have been dominant since day one.

Yes x2. Haven't read any DC in a couple months but these were 2 of my fav's. Is Frank still great without Lemire?

Those Uncanny Avengers covers just look so boring and generic. No surprise given the cast. I trust Remender, but all I'm getting from that book right now is ZZZZzzz.
 
It'd be pretty handy to have a belt buckle that had moveable parts; he could switch from "A" to "X" by twisting the lines about. Or, or, a reversible buckle.

They left the stories in continuity but hal has no idea the universe got fucked with. Barry's the only one that has any idea he broke the world I think? I think I heard legion was aware the universe had been messed with but it's the legion so it doesn't matter.
 
I would also like to once again point out that Barnes and Noble are offering a buy 2 get 1 free sale on DC trades, including Vertigo and pre-orders. If you pre-order, the books don't ship until the last pre-order is available, in most cases. Pre-ordered books have the highest discounts typically and the sale ends sometime in november. I'm waiting for them to add Absolute Top Ten to their listings to get that, Abs Sinestro Corps, and Absolute Batman and Littlebat.

Just read Batwoman #11 and #12.

Fucking zero month getting in the way of me seeing what happens next. Also, can Wonder Woman become a permanent character in this book? She's so much cooler here than in her own book.

I'm more excited for Amethyst than I probably should be.

I'm not talking about that. Flash was telling Bruce about everything that happened in Flashpoint.But they haven't mentioned it.

I'm fairly sure that the ending of Flashpoint, that is the scenes with Bruce and Barry at the very end, were done before Didio/Lee greenlit the New 52. The two-page splash with the purple hooded lady was tacked on afterward, and the artwork (but not the dialogue) in the following pages was retouched to reflect the new costumes. The whole thing was originally supposed to end back in the real DC Universe, and the interaction of the characters reflects that. Next time just read through it but ignore the splash pages, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

They're probably ignoring it because, well, it's something they want to ignore until they're forced to explain it.

There is a panel in either Batman or Justice League that's in the Batcave where you can see the letter from Thomas in a display case.

Dude what... Flashpoint was set up to change everything for the reboot. Flash even had his Nusuit on.

Edit: The damn tagline for FP "the event that will change everything" or some shit like that.

It was "Everything Will Change In A Flash." And it did, since Barry f*cked with the timestream because he missed his mom, and caused everything as we knew it to unravel. But the way the ending is written, everything was supposed to go back to normal at the end -- until the New 52 was greenlit. Johns even said that the splash page was added to try and explain the New 52; if you take out that scene, and you ignore the added in costume elements, the ending reads exactly as though it's taking place in the normal DCU.
 
I'm not happy with Zero month. It's just another stupid gimmick

Comics these days are already too stretched out and compartmentalized for their own good.

Due to writing it to later be collected as a trade paperback It often takes them half a year or more to tell a single story line. This results in many comics where it feels like the plot barely moved forward for the month.

So now they are taking a entire month where the plot isn't moving at all, which is super jarring especially since it's interrupting some story lines or forcing them to wrap others up way too soon.

On that note they really need to adjust event length. Avengers vs X-men has dragged on for FAR to long and I just want them to get it over with already rather then enjoying it as it comes.

Or at the very least do less tie in issues. Secret wars and Infinity gauntlet worked back in the day because you only needed to read the main series to get the complete picture.

Wolverine ran that unit, and he's the head of dealing with Apocalypse and Apocalypse-related threats. That's going to carry over into Uncanny Avengers. We are mixing that soup, where Red Skull, Kang, and Apocalypse are going to play to a grand, huge story that I'm wildly excited about."

I want to read this comic. My only worry is whoever is drawing arc 2 and beyond, because we know Cassaday ain't doing it.
 
Image miniseries have been my main interest lately. Saga is really good too. I'm ready to get back to more superhero so I'll try some NOW titles.

It's getting really hard to keep straight all the stuff I want to be reading as someone who only cares about following X-books and not Avengers books. I've become a pretty big fan of Remender and the things he has built over the last couple years in UXF. I jumped on Secret Avengers cause of Remender's involvement, but it has become clear that his heart isn't into it the way it has been in his UXF and Venom runs. All this book seems like it's doing is forcing Remender to take his ideas from X-Force onto a book with characters I don't like as much.

Yes, absolutely! I mean, Matt Kindt was a secret collaborator with Lemire on the run so he's maintaining the exact level of quality, if not better as he's not spread thin like Lemire was due to producing a billion books. Also, Frank speaks a lot more in Kindt's run, but that's not a bad thing.
 
How's Invincible these days? I stopped picking up the floppies because I was spending too much plus I was double dipping with the big hard cover's each year. I stopped a little after the war.
