Subscribed to Heavy Metal since there's no bookstores around here anymore.

I will not miss this hype shit:

Free preview of the new issue under Randy Elliot.

I haven't read heavy metal since high school.

Waid and Brevoort on the numbering game at BCC:

So yeah, it's been denied before but the truth is that we're definitely coming into the era of "season" numbering for comics.

I don't think it is a bad way of doing things.
As someone who jumps in and out of comics all the time, it would be excelent to say "this time, I'll just wait for the new season".

Comics is expensive and, unfortunately, about the first thing to go once money gets tight, it would help to say "right now I can't, I'll skip this season, but no problem, I'll get back onto the next one if things are better".

Would also make paperbacks and omnibus a lot easier to organize. There may be a huge problem that I'm not seeing since folks seems to not like it, but from a lot of practial standpoints, I don't see it.

It may get in the way of writers who plan those 3 year long arcs, but I usually find those are overstretching stories anyway.

Has Fire (the green girl) appeared on the New DC? My girlfriend loves her and I don't read DC. (google didn't help)

She is in the New 52 JLI (Justice League International). It's been canceled (despite having good numbers) so there is only issues #1-12, 0, and Annual #1.

So I've never read an Avengers comic in my life. My knowledge of the team is pretty much exclusively from the film. Would the New Avengers omnibus be a decent place to jump in, or is it too much of a spinoff?
I definitely recommend Ultimates volume 1 and 2. A lot of the film was inspired by that, and it's a great starting point.

Well, based on this spoiler filled link,
There will be no Jean, it's hope.
That's just the final issue of AvX: Versus, not the main AvX comic.

So, just read Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest #0, as well as Green Lantern Annual #1. Some thoughts.

Earth 2) Really dug the art. I've come to be a big fan of Nicola Scott, but Tomas Giorello knocked it out of the park. As for the story itself,
Ozymandius Terry Sloane? I could be OK with this.

Worlds' Finest) Again, love the art. It's a little "Barbie Doll" but it has a charm that's grown on me. Seemed a little rushed, story wise, but they manage to fit alot in. I love the implication of...
Intergang on Earth 2

Green Lantern Annual) Hooboy. This sure was a doozy. I sort of saw where it was heading but it doesn't make it any less messed up.

Right, but it make sit pretty obvious that
Hope gets the Phoenix force and that is what the artwork is showing. It's not Jean.

Okay, here is my list of New 52 comics that I have read to current.

Animal Man
Aquaman
Batman
Catwoman
Demon Knights
Dial H
Earth 2
Green Lantern
GL: Corps
GL: New Guardians
I, Vampire
Justice League
Justice League Dark
Red Lanterns
Resurrection Man
Stormwatch
Swamp Thing
The Flash
Wonder Woman
World's Finest

I have also read Phantom Stranger, but since that hasn't really started I don't count it. I tried to read Superman but I quit on issue 5. Does it get better?

What other runs are good? I have Comixology up right now but nothing is catching my eye.

Can anyone tell me whats the best way to sell a comic? I've been collecting since I was 15 and I am 28 now. I've always grabbed number one issues thinking they might be worth something someday. Althought I have never been able to actually sell any of my comics. But I just noticed that The Walking Dead #1 is going for around 800-1000 on ebay currently. Is ebay the best place to try and sell it? Or is there better comicbook selling sites?

for 800 bucks I am willing to sell....

Compare prices with places like MyComicshop.com and then put them on Ebay for what do you think it's a fair price.

I would say ebay is a good idea, especially for something that people would be actively looking for. At least then you're getting the full money rather than just a cut of what the retailer would make. If I were you I'd wait just a little while longer till the start of the third season too, really time it well and you could make a nice penny.

I don't have it graded......I'm thinking of sending it. I just feel really leary about sending a 800 dollar comic book through the mail and have them send it back. But if I do have it graded will the value go up on it?

Walking Dead 1 is going for 800? Damn, wtf. I remember buying it when it came out and rolling it up to kill a spider that day. 800 dollar kill.

Hahaha. My buddy also had a #1 but doesnt take care of his comics. He had a college party and people were in his room. One of his friends drew penis's throughout the comic. He thought it was hilarious. Anyways....a few years later Robert Kirkman was at a convention and he had him sign it and told him the story. Kirkman thought it was funny and took down his info. Sent him a brand new #1 signed in the mail. I told him if he didnt f'n take care of that comic I would kill him....

Didn't see that coming. I was expecting Emma to obtain the full power of the phoenix.

Still, I'm pretty sure that Hope will snatch it from him, or what was the point of the other cover?

Well, i'm looking forward to reading AvX #11 and 12, but at this point i doubt it's going to change my opinion on the event. Hope better do something amazing to justify her existence.

The later half was better, but it screwed up issues of WatXM and for that in the end it will be judged harshly.

....and Nova.

God damn.

Poignant symmetry, man. Continuity based comics done right.

Maybe. Seems more cliche and expected to me. Once it was not Hope it became apparent what they were going to do.

It also keeps making Hope the most hyped and useless character in the Marvel universe ever. She is like literally Marvel comic writers permanent Mcguffin passed around now. She has been at the center of what now, 6 major storylines hyped to "change everything" with abysmal payoffs and she is still as uninteresting as when she first appeared as a baby with little change.

like I said, the only time I've found Hope even remotely likeable as a character at this point was in the latest WatXM. Just put her in the school as a student, reduce her role in the marvel universe, everyone lives happy.

Or kill her off.

Or put Jean in Hope's body and make very awkward storylines involving her, Scott and Emma.

She has already punched Cyclops to the moon so she's A-Ok in my mind.

Hope = Cable's mom :O

Cliche and expected like the end of Parks and Rec S4 or any season finale of Friday Night Lights maybe. What's supposed to happen should happen. It's satisfying drama.

Red Hood and the Outlaws is pretty good as well as Nightwing. Based on your list you either don't like them? Or didn't try them.

Any reason Batgirl / Woman aren't on your list? They've been pretty good too.

It's not one of the 52, but have you been reading The Shade? It has been amazing. Only one more issue of it left though.

Cyclops becomes the Phoenix and kills Hope. That would be satisfying, moreso if i could forget all the previous Hope events and the first 3 issues of AvX which were the videogame equivalent to a fetch quest.

At least Scott hasn't killed billions of people yet.

Way to go Jean! I mean Phoenix! Or Jean clone. Who fuck cares anymore?!

Whats more frustrating is that Hope's story with Bishop and Cable has gone nowhere. The whole Bishop trying to prevent Hope from killing millions of humans and starting his future reality hasn't gone anywhere :(

Also whose idea was it to make the event 12 issues. Easily should have been about 7 or 8 max.

Milked to no end. Don't even get me started on the VS line.

Remender/Noto interview about UXF

-Remender's last issue(#35) is in December
-Noto drawing #31-35
-Dean White is gone to draw half a dozen other Marvel NOW books, so Frank Martin is coloring
-Things happen, people argue, Apocalypse is important, a lot of other stuff you'll see yourself in the comic
-Two major deaths before the story is over(hedging bets on AoA nightcrawler for one of them)

-Return of Ape Beast.

I love Noto. He needs to join Hawkeye rotating team.

Deadpool dies. Then we get Deadpool Goes to Hell. His hell would be repeating all of Wolverines storylines and then reading every comic in existence but all of them starring Wolverine. With Cable sitting next to him.

If the shade is ending I might just wait and pick it all up in one set on paperback, I had no idea it took place in the Starman universe. That actually sounds pretty cool.

The Bat books are something that I really just can't get excited about, same thing with the Super line. Superman/boy/girl are characters that I try to like but I can't get into them.

Well I guess 5 more issues is better than nothing. Really going to miss that book but whatever. I'm sure something else will come along and grab my attention.

Ed: God, Remender is doing Captain America too... He could not have picked a character I give less of a shit about. He might as well be writing yaoi slash fic.

Why do you hate America?

I'm trying to cut my pull list for November pre-orders while at the same time adding more Marvel books due to ten seconds till Now.

I buy too many books anyways, but there's just a lot of good books on the market and it's hard to cut when quality isn't the #1 reason.
