Is Paul Cornell's Action run worth tracking down? I remember the Lex story getting some buzz, but I never got around to reading any of it.

Reacting to news of a reboot across the board is hardly unexpected for a discussion thread. It ebbs and flows between hype of comics people enjoy and directions, and terrible new announcements people aren't pleased with. Especially for something like X-Force.

I have a feeling things will be better once some of these Marvel Now books actually release and people can start talking about the books that end up being good instead of worrying about changes that could go either way. I am going to try out most of the new X-titles. I am sure that many of them will be bad, but I am sure at least one or two will be positive surprises.

Last try at this thread. Used to be a great place to hang out.

Haw!

Come on man.

I promote stuff I love all the time, then Jedeye cries about it not having naked boobies 100% of the time. :|

Plus none of you jerks reciprocated for my Battle Beasts love-in!

BOOK IS SO HYPE!

Plus if the crap I just finished sees print, I'll hype that too. They came seeking and artist, they ended up with me. :3

Can you make one that says like "Don't call someone out for being a shitty artist if they actually post in this thread without at least bringing some detail to the conversation otherwise you're just a bully."

Or is that too much copy?

That's part of why I posted this. The thread yesterday was wholly embarrassing.

All the Lex Luthor you could possibly want plus some Death on the side! Paul Cornell is at the top of my list of new favorite writers.

Unfortunately there isnt a baby crèche internet for those that can't handle that ying and yang, so oh well eh?

Except that's not what's happening. It's people slamming things that others obviously love.

Nothing to do with the baby internet, but forget it. Not worth it.

The difference is, I have no interest in that but I didn't start posting about how crap it is or isn't. I scrolled down.

If I can't rage here about a book based entirely on killing characters I like, where will I rage?

Rage away. I'm talking about people literally slamming things right after people are talking about how much they love something.

No one is calling for zero negativity. At all.

I see your Battle Beasts and raise you the true Battle Beast.

Please.

Kirkman just swiped that shit from the real Battle Beasts son. It's less transparent than turning Peter Parker into a wanna-be Savage Dragon and calling it Invincible. :P

Oh snap! Now we gonna make Kryptonian mad again.

I see you enjoyed AvX. In that case, you should check out the first 25 issues of Hulk. If you think AvX is Bad Boys 2 - then the first 25 issues of Hulk is The Rock. ;)

Time for nap. Then comics. :3

TTOB did you buy Grendel omnibus?

Not yet. D: I need to get on it.

Oh yeah, how is it? Amazon pulled it out due to people complaining about the quality of the paper, etc and I'm not sure if I want to pick it up now.

Whaaaat?!

Oh wait. . . glued binding is the greater sin than the paper quality.

I'm so sick of comics falling apart on me. >:|

I need to look into one of those binding companies to remedy the problem the publishers don't want to solve. :(

What the fuck, I never knew this existed. My two favorites in one comic D: do need

If it's collected in the trades, I can just send them to you. I picked them up off a clearance table a few years back. Scott Kollins did his part, but there's only so much you can do when Kirkman is writing the book. ^_^

If this is true then read Demon Knights and Saucer Country. The first Demon Knights trade is already out and I think the Saucer Country one comes out next month.

I was going to plug Fairy Quest, but then I realized it was the wrong Paul.

Still hoping my copy of Fairy Quest arrives before Fake Mid Ohio Con!

Not that he needs it, but Brom has a new art book on Kickstarter. WHOA YEAH! BROM! BROM! Sadly the Jedeye approved cover isn't much cooler than the standard cover. :(

lol, that was classic

Oh man. I hope he was banned for some other stupid crap and not this thread. :(

I will pour out some buttermilk pancake batter for our fallen comics homey.

It's in this tpb.

The single issue is available for about $12 on Amazon as well.

Crap! I only have the first two trades.

Let me know if you are still interested. :X

Don't click on that link if you have safe search off :(

NO DOC SAMSON, NOOOO!

Been on Demon Knights since day one, yo! So good. As far as Saucer County, I read the first issue and despite the solid writing, I realized I don't particularly care for Alien/politicking stories. You think it's worth looking at the series?

omg i had so many of those growing up!

They were pretty awesome.

As is the comic! ;)

Seriously, I wasn't expecting the comic to be good; but it was. Plus the artist is going to go to work for Marvel once this mini-series ends (4 issues IIRC) on that Sif comic.

Battle Beasts and M.U.S.C.L.E. were both crazy globs of plastic fun. :D

Saucer Country is one of my favorites, but if the first issue didn't do it for you I doubt you'll like the rest of the series. I just checked and the trade comes out at the end of November, maybe just see if you can get it from the library when it comes out.

No! Fuck promoting what we like!! :D

Bitching is the spice of life, suck it up man. This place would be boring as hell if we all agreed even 50% of the time.

Tell you what, I did actually quite like AvX last week, I felt like it was a fight scee that delivered. However, it's impact was lessened by the previous ten issues all being pretty much the same, but as a piece where superfolks pose and look cool and there's fire and Prof X looks cool and tiny in his suit (wtf is up with his eyebrows anyway, did Claremont have a Dark somethingsomething Saga about those too?), it was cool. I liked when Cyke attacked Emma, that was really cold.

Also, something struck me a few weeks back that I forgot to post about. In UXF30 Daken (of all people) has this awesome line about why would anyone call themselves heroes, that it's sanctimonious and self serving and I have to say, it summed up a lot of what I find stupid about cape books. So many books are promoted as being about "What it is to be a HERO", and it's such an empty phrase. In fact, I think hero is a bad word for superheroes, especially when a lot of the interesting conflict and such comes from dealing with one another.

I kinda think comics would be more interesting if they tried to drop the rigid idea of 'hero' and just focussed on stories about characters relating to each other and doing stuff. I mean, how many prose books or TV shows are about self-described 'heroes'? Even when they might be doing vaguely heroic stuff? It's a nonsense, and I thought Remender hit the nail square on the head.

You know what comic sort of deals with this issue the IDW transformer comics. They really get at the absurdity of it all to the point optimus and Megatron had to laugh at the pointlessness of it all.

Were those the rocks that turned into robot guys? If so I'm pretty sure I had one or two ot them.

Yeah. Probably the laziest thing a transfomer-like toy could turn into.

I guess they were Go Bot spin offs. I swear all these things looked cooler when I was 5 years old though :P

*reads through DC solicits today*

It's weird and unreasonable, but i want new books all the time and get bored when things seem boring. Needs more foil covers.

O______________O Fables #119 and 120. I'm actually amazed at how much i am enjoying this Toyland arc. It got really dark but in the right way that makes you just want to read more.

Speaking of GI Combat, how the heck did I not notice that Howard Motherfather Chaykin is drawing the friggin Haunted Tank feature ? Why would you announce such a thing and then cancel the flipping book ? What's wrong with you DC ?
