The Ultimates this week was so fucking cool. I was eating up all that Celestial lore.

It's a shame to see
the new herald sacrifice himself to restore the Lifebringer Galactus, but comic books right!

I'm just glad
we got Lifebringer back, I thought they were going to handwave that change away in favour of the status quo. Nice to see them stick to their guns.

Oh yeah same!

Did the art get better in ultimates?

The latest issue is really great because it is mostly abstract cosmic shit.

But the preview from the next issue looks like dogshit.

Nothing will top Kenneth Rocafort's art from the first "season" though.

Oh boy oh boy Deadpool vs Punisher #2

TASKMASTER WITHOUT HIS MASK. And referencing the Org/Mercedes!

God bless Van Lente, that plot thread has been dangling for years. At least nice to know
Mercedes is still watching over Tony
.

it really is. I love that someone actually bothered to explain the "why are random celestials showing up in civil war II" plot point.

Ultimates is doing amazing things with the cosmic tier, i hope we end up with an Ultimates 3 after Secret Empire. Troubleshooters are pretty interesting as well- it's pretty damned rare to see a pack of psi talent that strong outside of the Xbooks.

Oh man, that's awesome, I had no idea! That's unbelievable, shipping won't have been cheap. Manga sized vols seem like a great fit for that book, although Boom don't really seem to put out through Archaia these days. Basically Mouse Guard & Henson stuff. I can't wait to get more of those Prophet volumes, for all the collab going on he basically covers the bulk of those two volumes and imo all the best parts are his.
yeah he posted them on Twitter like a month ago bc he was comped a few sketch variants, so he just sold 'em. and yeah, I plan on reading Prophet eventually. Think I wanna look for the back issues though for the backups some of the issues have. I gotta have all the content
I paid for a beta once, it was called Street Fighter V.
Zombine is shooting!

I think that is when The book is at its best. Doing all that cosmic shit.

Like who is behind what on the universe. It drags when they go back and focus on Earth stuff

Supergirl is still decent, but Superwoman is probably dropped for me. I did like the last issue and I love the supporting cast but that 6 issue first arc was a mistake.

Both Super-women books were underwhelming.

Don't let me down New Super-Man

I like Superwoman, love New Superman and dropped Supergirl after the second issue. However the last issue of Supergirl was pretty good. Only read it because of Reborn but I'm tempts to get the next issue.

Supergirl is... alright. The art is stylish and I really love the voice for Kara, but the initial plotline dragged on way too long and the supporting cast is pretty meh.

In general though, the Superman lineup is awesome. Superman and New Super-Man get all the praise they deserve, Action Comics really turned it around after that sucky Doomsday opener, and Super Sons is off to a great start. Supergirl and Superwoman are the worst of them, but neither is really bad, just forgettable.

Superman hasn't been in a good place for a while now - I think the Rebirth bump hit him stronger than anyone.

Best part of Superwoman was The flashback to Lex's childhood.

Have any of you guys seen this Thanos statue from Diamond's new Premiere statue line? I like it even more than that $300 one that Kotobukiya put out last Fall.

Close-Up-of-Diamond-Select-Toys-Thanos-Statue-2017-640x480.jpg

Cosmic Cube, Infinity Gauntlet AND that classic Thanos grin? This is checking all the right boxes for me.

Batman/The Shadow was good. Riley Rossmo makes The Shadow look so fuckin cool
the two times he shows up in the issue

yeah it's dope and has a really good creative team

only downside is it's $6 an issue

I like the prestige format release and get the cost but yeah, wince when they ring up that book

On the other hand it's only $1 more than many Marvel #1s and I imagine way better

Freeza: I had no idea it came out this week.

Sandfox: I hope so. this is looking like the Golden child of the x-men books.

Just remember that releases every other week.

Based on comments I've read it seems as though Bunn has planned things out pretty well and understands the characters so I expect it to stay good.

Infamous Iron Man is just a stealth F4 book and Doom taking down all the villains.

GLA ended meta, I wish it kept going but alas...

Hulk, FUCKING HELL, I'm dropping this shit next issue. It's just a tease and not a good one.

x men blue #2 came out today and nobody is talking about it!1?

I haven't said anything because I tend to post panels when I talk about books and I know folks are sensitive to spoilers, so it's sometimes easier just not to post about them.

X-Men Blue still has a solid take on every character. A few intriguing hooks for Magneto, Bobby, and Hank this issue and I'm actually looking forward to seeing where those threads go. Like always, Beast can't help but fuck things up.

Just put them in link form

And sounds good. I ready to see more of ultimate wolverine.

Point taken.

X-Men Blue #2: X-Men Blue still has a solid take on every character. A few intriguing hooks for Magneto, Bobby, and Hank this issue and I'm actually looking forward to seeing where those threads go. Like always, Beast can't help but fuck things up. Panel 1, Panel 2

Scarlet Spider #1: This has strong hints of Peter David's Captain Marvel run, with a former hero who has clearly fallen off and lost everything, including his mind. That was a bit more existential of a run, but this is much the same, with Ben doing his best to convince himself that he's still a hero on the surface, while mostly do the things villains do. Panel 1, Panel 2

Action Comics #978: So... uh. Is everything just back now? Superman's new history is his pre-Flashpoint history, up until Lois got pregnant at some point. This is where we slot in the New 52 costumes for the Trinity and Clark/Lois decide to roll out of Metropolis for Jon's birth. Then we shove in the Lois & Clark run, followed by the Geoff Johns New 52 run of Superman and the adjoining Action Comics run. It's very, very weird what DC is doing here. Panel 1, Panel 2

Flash #21: Like Action Comics, the most interesting thing that's happening here is the return of old continuity. Unlike that book, these are subtle hints of past Justice League adventures that shouldn't have happened in the New 52/Rebirth timeline. The Worlogog and White Martian costumes, notably from the Morrison/Porter run of the book, which is cool given Porter is the artist here. Panel 1, Panel 2.

Blue Beetle #8: This is what I'm talking about. Like Nova, this shared mentor Legacy book is a great idea. I am 100 percent down for what Giffen is doing here,
even though I'll miss the Scarab
.

The way Emma Frost skull dragged Carol Danvers and the avengers in New X-Men #28 is so satisfying ugh. This is why I love her, and why #CYCLOPSWASRIGHT.

That sounds great

Got the Green lantern omnibus yesterday. That thing is built like a stack of bricks. Yikes!
Haven't gotten far though due to unruly babies.

Right now Batman is getting chewed out and the spirit of vengence is having fun with people.

Aww, what am I missing out on? I didn't know this was one of *those* books. Pretty Deadly neglected to include a written prose thing that ran in the back of the first series that explained the origins of two of the characters in the book haha. I mean, the characters in question are basically tricksters so it isn't too important why they do what they do, but it's like eh. Thankfully they collected it for volume 2. For me it's just like, I'm literally never going to pick up the monthly, exclusive back matter or not, so it's just a pure punishment, despite all the money I might spend to support a creator or a publisher etc (not really sure where these ideas originate from).

This Scarlet Spider idea sounds kind of hilarious. I'm not really big into David's writing or Bagley's art tbh but that's quite a cool idea. My prime preteen spiderman reading years landed bang on the UK reprinting the Reilly years so I have a weird affinity for him. It would be funny if he tried to go back and work at the daily grind.

OH THANK GOD

I WAS SO PISSED THAT IT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED WITHIN THE EVENT

PRAISE THE LORD HALLELUJAH

That was always the entire premise. And then events keep hitting it. Ewing is a goddamned trooper.

Unlike Guggenheim or Pak.

So yeah, Blue can stay winning.

It was a theme in Hopeless' All-New X-Men that almost made me keep reading that the O5 were just falling into the same shit that their predecessors did, and in the case of Beast, he was just taking everything into his own hands, saying it's for the greater good, but in reality it was to satisfy his own curiosities.

Did PAD's tax troubles get fixed btw? Can't believe he never paid taxes over all those years despite knowing he should.
