You guys were right. Six gun gorilla was fantastic. The last two issues were amazing in how they tied it all together. That one splash page was an emotional gut punch. Definitely a Simon Spurrior fan now.
What do people think of his X-Men Legacy run? Is it of the same quality as SGG?

I've only read the first issue of X-Men Legacy but I found it quite interesting. Comic-GAF seems high on that series in general. You need to pick up X-Force #1 next month! Spurrier is gonna slay that all new now what what.
And for more Spurrier, track down the awesome 4-part mini series he did last year, Numbercruncher. It's quite different from SGG but it's brilliant in its own right. It's been collected in HC by Titan Comics. Spurrier also does a free weekly web comic called, Disenchanted.
Jeff Stokely doesn't get enough mention for the art of SGG. It's beautiful and, yeah, the spreads are jaw-dropping. The colours are great, too. Amazing series all around.

Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine was a fun miniseries. What comic does their brofist appear in? For some reason I thought it was in AS&W.

Does anyone have Marvel Unlimited or knows a lot about it? I'm wondering if you can search by storyline in it. Say I wanted to read Fear Itself, any issue that involved it. Can you do that or do you need to know which specific issue of each series was a part of it and look for it?
Also, I want to get a ipad to use MU, but I'm short on cash atm for a full size one, you guys reckon you can read comics fine on a mini?

I know it has storyline search at least on mobile. A mini should be good but just be aware that Marvel's version of Comixology's Guided view is really terrible. If you can stomach reading a full comic page on a mini, then go for it.
By the way, the Android app is glitchy as all hell and not worth subscribing if you're going to be using that the most. I don't know what the ios app situation is, so you'd be better off buying one month of service and then seeing if it works for you.

Alright Tim, read FE ARGUS.
Trevor, Frost, and Dr Martin Stein (creator of the Firestorm Matrix), are working together. They figure they are going to need a telepath to reach into the matrix and extract Diana errrr the Justice League. Killer Frost could waste these people in a second but she needs Firestorm so her role is pretty much a whiney bitch when she is not freezing Typhoon, Plastique and Black Bison.
The President is holed up in a place called The Green Room. Short little convo between the mysterious Mr. Green, Lt Candy (Trevor's assistant) and the president. Pretty much little ol Candy has a big part to play.
Frost, Trevor, and Stein teleport to Detroit. When Darkseid invaded, it punched a hole in our reality that left it easy for interdemsional traffic. ARGUS set up a compound to catch the bad traffic and in-prison them. The guardians of this place see Trevor and ask why he is working with Frost, enquirer about Vibe. Trevor sets free PSI, a telepath that breached our demension. It is explained that she fought Vibe and Supergirl before being caught. PSI touches Trevor and he sees the "truth". It is then explained that answer was there all along, that Xandu kept on saying "seek the truth Col. Trevor". It meant finding the Lasso of Truth. Cheetah has it and that's where we are going next.

That's how it is on Comixology. Marvel just has the panels flip to the next one without any kind of animated transition. Plus, they frequently cut off text and just straight up skip over some pieces of art.

I'm on a roll tonight. I'm reading through my backlog of trades. I just finished Ghosted Vol 1. It was a very quick read. I'll probably check out the next story arc when it comes out in tpb. Last Stand of the Wreckers is next on my reading list.
So I'm not really missing anything then. Thanks for the details!

Furious #1 was pretty good. Not perfect, but it was pretty solid for a #1. I'll stick with it. It's only a mini anyway.
As far as Red Lanterns, is it worth picking up the trades? I just started reading it again in anticipation of the Supergirl stuff, and it's pretty fun. I haven't read it since issue #4 or #5, so I was thinking of picking up the trades. Worth it?

Would definitely recommend Legacy. The artwork is the big minus point. I'll get back to you on the comparison with SGG. I feel like I need to read the full run before commenting.
Dan Slott is one of the best writers in comics right now. Superior Spider-Man is such a thrilling breath of fresh air. I hope he keeps up the momentum when Peter comes back
You guys seem like a knowledgeable bunch. Anyone knows what Esad Ribic is up to? I very, very much enjoyed his art in last year's God of Thunder run that I want to see more of him.
Other older recommendations that you might find good are acceptable as well, preferably something I can read online or isn't hard too find or to expensive on Amazon will be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the minority that actually enjoyed the first arc but man ever since the fifth issue this series has been in high gear, Remender is in Dark Angel Mode.

The Saviors is such a good book, it is so refreshing.

It's cool you're enjoying The Saviors. I liked the first issue. Particularly the art. But it lost me with the aliens. I just kind of wish it was a comic about this stoner dude and his life in a small town.
I picked up the Dredd movie sequel comic today. Hopefully that gets me watching the Karl Urban Dredd flick. I've become something of a fan of the character since reading 2000 AD's FCBD issue and some other Dredd stuff. (Didn't care for the IDW Dredd issue I read, though)
I didn't like Furious at all. Oh well.

What impresses me so much about this series is the masterful storytelling. J. Bone has an incredible understanding of the fundamentals of comics. When a comic like this comes out I can let the plot/characters take the back seat because it's schooling you on creating comics.

Then I read Damian Son of Batman and appreciate it even more. First issue was mediocre, 2nd and 3rd got a bit better each time. This 4th and final one made me realize that this was a waste of talent (art), time and money for all involved. The story ended with nothing. DONT LET ARTIST BE WRITERS!

Man, my LCS was completely out of Furious #1 when I got there (within 15 minutes of store opening!). At least I got my Saga and Black Science on. I just read Saga #18 and it was fantastic; the wait for #19 will be a long one.

stopped by the shop today real quick before i went to class, picked up Furious and the new Five Weapons. Gonna have to go back b/c i saw a Bravest Warriors Annual that has a couple artists i like on it, and because i forgot i never bought Five Weapons #5 way back whenever that came out.
same. since like... sometime last year, i forget when. i read comics sometimes though!
I'm not sure I'd go that far, he's very good yes but he isn't always consistent. Some arcs are better than others, but when he's doing good work it's always worth reading. I will say the shorter arcs do work to his strengths, as a result his work is lean and mean with no wasted panels. Plus you're always getting your money's worth, you can't say that about every book.

Hey guys, recommend me some comics. My only comic book character knowledge comes from movies and some cartoons Batman TAS, Justice League, and Spiderman TAS.
Oh I'm on currently on issue 19 of The Walking Dead. I'd be willing to read more stuff from Image but man have they been cranking out a ton of titles. I hear Sagas is great, might check that out next beyond that I'm lost.

Well I figure we could bombard you with a million books or recommend something that is generally well liked
I find that this story owes quite a lot in tone and style to the old animated show, something about the way Capullo draws Batman is very reminiscent.You might also enjoy the recent vol 1 of Justice League. I think it's a bit shallow, but it's got nice art and features all the characters and is a good 'meet the team' story.

@Jedeye Sniv: Batman is what makes me want to read comics to be honest, he's always been my favorite hero. Batman TAS is great, he was awesome in the Justice League cartoon and I really loved the Nolan flicks. I just didn't know where an ideal place to start was, did some research and it seems the New 52 is pretty newbie friendly... but I also heard that they keep all the older Batman stories canon... no idea if that's true.
I would also really like to check out Superman, been reading up on him and he seems to be in some good stuff, same problem though no idea where to start, I guess New 52? Plus he's awesome (even though he's a boy scout). Ideally I'd love to read starting from the beginning (meaning a characters origin) but a newbie friendly story is definitely welcome too, for every major comic character.
@doniewhalberg: I honestly don't really read very much. Used to love Star Wars books as a kid, read a bunch of Harry Potter also. I love fantasy and sci-fi movies and games. Game of Thrones is awesome. I absolutely LOVED the first two Hitchhiker's Guide books, stopped randomly during the third for some reason (gotta get back into it).
I do like detective/crime stories, things with intricate plots and mysterious and stuff, insane twists, blah blah blah. Like I said though I don't read much at all, last book I read was like a year ago haha, wow I have to fix that.
Just recommend me something that is easy to get into, but lots of fun. I remember reading the first 2 volumes of Bone in color in middle school, maybe I'll give that a go. A friend says its good.

What the New 52 kept and discarded is kinda muddled and confusing, but luckily Batman is really easy to get into, unless you start in the middle of Grant Morrison's stuff or something. Like Jedeye said, Court of Owls is a good start, it's got great art.
