So I've been reading Hickman FF and Marvel Cosmic. I stopped reading FF because the Inhumans show up and that seems to be ahead of where I am in the cosmic line. How far do I have to read into the cosmic line (like what events or series) before I catch up to the chronology of where FF is at? For reference I'm currently reading the first issue of Thanos Imperative.

Is avengers worth reading? I kinda wanna pick it up cause of Kubert.

Grim the opena issues make the kubert ones really ugly. Hickman is all about DAT long form storytelling tho so the series has been okay so far. Its not on the same level as Thor and I think bendis ANX and uncanny have been better as well.

SHIELD was an interesting idea but the main character might be the worst example of a mary sue I've ever seen, i.e. exhibits no personality of his own and intrinsically holds the solution to everyone's problems.

I'd still want to read how it ends but it's probably the worst of Hickman's stuff I've read.

The main character does kind of suck. Hickman's worst is still better than 95% of whatever else is out there. The art is gorgeous too

When did Djurevic start working for Marvel again? Surprising considering that meltdown he had a while back.

Didnt hear about it. Did he go crazy a few years back? I remember seeing him at a con like 4 years ago. He was not all that friendly

Thoughts on these books:

Action Comics
Justice League
Superman

I need some Supes in my life.

Of the three, Action is your best bet. It's Morrison's not best, but I like it over the other two. "Justice League" only just got good beyond the backup stories, and I did not feel "Superman" at all.

Yeah, Action is the most interesting of the three. Not Morrison's best, but still interesting. Has the weakest art if the three currently though.

Action is about to get a new creative team after the next issue. Between that and the upcoming Batman/Superman and Snyder Superman there's alot of new stuff to check out besides the mediocre Lobdell Supes

If you're at Thanos Imperative, just finish it. That's basically the end to that era of cosmic stories.

AFAIK, all the Inhumans stuff is done in the previous War of Kings and Realm of Kings stories.

Hope you're reading the cosmic stuff in order.

I love me some Adam. His work just has kinetic energy. His work changed a lot in the last ten years for sure but its still top notch cartooning.

I loved it because it reminded me of the Age of Apocalypse and how that story blew my 14-year old mind. I wasn't aware it was only a finite story at the time so thought the X-Men universe would be that way permanently. Olivier Coipel killed it on the art and the character redesigns.

[Ethan Van Sciver] also talked about how he met Dan DiDio when DiDio worked at another company and wanted to animate his comic Cyberfrog, before suddenly discovering DiDio was his new boss at DC.

And how Dan DiDio took him aside to pitch him their top secret Identity Crisis series. And pitched it saying “Basically we’re going to rape Jean Loring”.

Something he didn’t seem particularly comfortable with. As you might not.

The Age of Ultron begins this month, and opens with an already destroyed Marvel Universe, having been conquered by the robotic despot. Little detail was given about this long-teased event, other than it being sold as Bendis’s swan-song on the Avengers, and also ending in a colossal reveal that will lead into another event following.

Editorial refused to give up any information upon the recently teased “First” storyline, despite prompts from the audience. Threats of death from the highest powers were mentioned.

Creators on the panel also had the following reveals for their own respective titles:

- Captain Marvel is about to have a crossover with Avengers Assemble. It begins in May with Enemy Within #1. Despite involving Carol Danvers and the connotations a title like that bring up, Deconnick insists that it has nothing to do with Ms. Marvel’s Immortus cosmic rape-baby-thing storyline, and further that she would never ever use that story in any of her books. Scott Hepburn is the new artist on the book.

- Morbius will continue to have his character re-established in the first 5 issues of his own series, and will become part of the larger Marvel U again in issue #6 and #7, featuring an appearance by the Superior Spider-man.

- Deadpool’s current story will wrap with issue 6, and from there he’ll have a stand alone story that puts him in the 1980′s, messing with Demon in a Bottle era Tony Stark. Dugan promises the title will have moments with more horrifying implications in the future, as well as an appearance by the Superior Spider-man.

-Elaborating on his pitch from Saturday, Fraction clarified that the murder mystery in Hawkeye #11 will be solved by Pizza Dog. In all seriousness. Also FF will feature a pool party, Yancy Street, a Skrull Ben Franklin, the Big Bang, and the Big Crunch… perhaps not in that order.

- Humphries will be introducing the West Coast Ultimates, including Wonderman, Vision, Black Knight, Tigra and Quake. Uncanny X-Force will be delving into Bishop’s life while he was trapped at the end of time, and Fantomex and Betty’s relationship will be examined before bringing the return of a big and classic X-villain.

- Mark Waid’s lucid dreaming led him to a story about Daredevil behind the wheel of an epic car chase, so expect that to eventually make it into an issue. Meanwhile, the villain behind everything since DD #1 will finally be revealed. Over in Indestructible Hulk, Walt Simonson joins the title for a 3-issue arc with Hulk and Thor battling frost giants, before Hulk an Daredevil have a team-up.

To me it's the best Bat book on the shelf. The writing is great and Gleason is consistently solid. The art on the Death of the Family tie-ins was the most grotesque and phenomenal interpretation of the Joker yet. I'm sad it's going away

Just finished issue 17. And now I'm rather mad. If Damian is really dead... Seriously that was the beat run of a Batman book I think I've ever read. The humanity that came from that relationship was just draw dropping. And you're right, I love Capullo's art and always have since the Spawn days but... Gleason's version of Joker was just flat out disturbing. Best Bat book by far.

I don't know what they plan to do with it now, but it'll never be as emotionally engaging as it was with Damian.

Apparently they are going to be cycling through stories with the old Robins until a new one shows up. First up is Jason, the Red Hood.

I remember reading an interview where the writer said he wanted to make sure Damian's death had as much punch as humanly possibly and that was the mission statement for the book up until now.

I guess so; maybe it was a candid conversation and EVS asked them to? (EDIT: On the forum they're saying EVS posted saying the article was inaccurate and that Didio never used those exact words.)

You can still find a cached version on Google, but in case here's the rest:

-Back when they were still at Marvel, EVS and writer Geoff Johns were going to create a story that retconned Jean Grey's origin. In this new version, the childhood friend whose death triggered the activation of Jean's mutant powers would have actually become part of Jean, like her psychic being was absorbed and merged within her. Xavier would have known, and covered it up to protect Jean, but supposedly it was THIS part of Jean's psyche that would have later manifested as the Phoenix. (In other words, Johns gonna Johns. F*cking L-O-L.)

-When he was working with Grant Morrison (on NXM I'm guessing), there were some scripts that EVS didn't want to draw because they were too mean or sad. Also, the Batman/Catwoman anti-gun miniseries that he illustrated was done while his wife was working as an instructor for the NRA.

-EVS believes that Batman co-creator Bob Kane wanted Batman to look more like a bat, and that is why to this day he draws him the way he does, with longer ears and a winglike cape and just generally vampiric looking. (This is something I actually agree with to some extent.)

-After Didio approached him about doing Identity Crisis, EVS really wasn't looking forward to that gig but never had to make a decision yes or no, as he shortly learned Rags Morales would be doing it and he would be working on Green Lantern: Rebirth with Geoff Johns.
