So real talk, last week we paid off all of my credit cards. I agreed to be more conscientious about my spending. So until I beat the games I'm playing now, I'm not going to pick up much of anything else. I'm hoping I'll have some done by the time Bayonetta comes out.

No worries, I know how you feel!

Yeah, same. I'll bite the bullet though...

According to my credit card balance, I've spent about $100 this month. D:

I admire your ability to be frugal, seriously. I know this isn't the place to really talk about it, but since comics is a huge chunk of where my income goes, I guess it's okay. Ive had a job since I was 16 and have always had disposable income since my parents never made me pay for rent. Even when I moved in with my fiancé, I still didn't have as many bills. I admit, I have been completely spoiled and this is totally a reality check. We don't have children yet, and my fiancé makes really good money
$55/hr..
so we both (errr me) have bad spending habits. He just recently paid off my ring, and now with these credit cards out of the way, we're going to focus on paying off the new truck and the wedding.

I'm ultimately glad I've converted to digital comics as its easily saved me at least $100 a month on comics. Now to cut back on IST orders ;)

I seriously need to start holding myself back some more in regards to purchases, definitely. I guess the good thing is that I've almost hit the point where I'll be "caught up" with English language manga, which is where I've sunk a ton of money over the past 5-7 or so years (it's steadily ramped up, not sure when exactly I'd say I started really focusing there). I already hit that with video games and anime a few years back, and though still spend money here and there it's a lot more chill and less stressful when I'm mostly keeping up rather than catching up. Though I'm worried about/going to have to keep under control comics and import manga purchases, since those went from something I don't spend money on to something I've spent a decent bit on over the past year, which is scary.

Oh trust me, you don't ever want to be as frugal as I am. It's not much fun. I wish I was a little bit less frugal, but I tend to have an all-or-nothing sort of attitude towards spending. Basically if I buy one thing, I feel like I'm becoming loose with my money and I'll soon spend it all.
I can't really complain though. As annoying as it can be, my savings and investments appreciate it.

I'm glad to hear that you decided to cut back on your spending though! As nice as it is to get new things, it's also pretty nice to know you've got plenty of money stored away for a rainy day/eventual retirement.
You done good, Cheska.

I restrict myself quite a bit to what I buy even though the wife and I do pretty well financially although not always. I did have to stop buying comics and pretty much anything else when I was saving up for our wedding. Those days were pretty rough. But even if I have plenty of disposable income, I'm never eager to splurge.

On actual comics discussion, just red Velvet vol 1 today.

Maaaaan, what a great series. I feel like I've read this type of book from Brubaker before, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. Epting does really well here even if his paneling is pretty boring. Elizabeth Breitweiser should be in the discussion for best colorist in the industry. Anybody know when vol 2 comes out?

October is going to be a bit nuts with my expenses, but I blame that mostly on a lot of pvc figures I have ordered, and my upcoming purchase of a PS4 this weekend. But I'm going to weather the storm for the next few months, and cut back in 2015. Clean slate.

I'm probably overestimating my debt, though. I have like, $1200 on my main credit card right now. I'm sure it's a pittance compared to the debt some people have, and I could easily pay it off immediately. I just don't like dipping into my savings accounts.

Manhattan Projects #1: Since the OHC was on IST this week i decided it's time to try out the first issue, i've pre-ordered all of them through dcbs.... that was a lot of fun for an opening issue. Almost makes up for how terrible Avengers is.

I actually liked the most recent issue of Avengers.

I fully expect Hickman to do something better to change my opinion, but i am repelled by self-righteous Cap dialog, choosing sides, underground heroes, heroes hacking into Shield and getting caught, explaining why each person is taking which side...if only there was a way for Spider-Man to come in and reveal his identity.

I'm hoping
Ex Nihilo and Abyss do something interesting because i didn't like how Hickman left them during Infinity, they seemed to have been discarded quickly for awihle

On my way to Eeeeevil Richards, finally got around to reading Ultimatum and the surrounding issues.

Fucking hell, the fuck was marvel doing at the time? That was absolute trash on a horrendously grotesque level. The x-men at the time, with all of that "logan is the first manufactured mutant. Also, logan blood is mutie cocaine and everybody gets claws. EVERYBODY." are an absolute embarrassment. Ultimatum itself..... yeesh.

Spidey was sorta good, tho, and the issues showing samuel l. jackson's, hulk and cap's origins were okayish.

How the heck did this event go past the editors? Dear gods...

Jeph Loeb innit. Such a hack.

The funny thing about ultimatum is that it made Spidey absolututely brilliant for a few months, those requiem issues were some of the most touching things I read that year. Just stick with Spidey and you'll be good. And Hickman's Ultimates. Aw yeah Ribic.

edit: oops

I probably won't be reading Gotham Academy (if only because I've gotten my fill of highschool stories in the last while), but I hope it leads to a surge of alternative's to superhero comics for DC. Stuff like Chase, Hitman, and Gotham Central, all unique books that take place in a grand, interesting DCU.

whaaaat?!?! new Green Arrow came out today and they changed the creative team to be more like the tv show?!?!

anyone read it? is it crappy now?!?!

it's in my pull list, but I may wanna drop it, gonna pick up books tomorrow or friday so if it sucks I dont wanna buy it lol
