How long is the campaign?
there are 14 missions, it can take between 10 to 30 minute to beat them depending on the mission. Infantry commando style missions, holding area missions, building up and urban tank advancing missions, there are all kinds. I'd say on captain (basically normal) difficulty probably 6-7 hours. It's rather easy I think, might want to play at highest difficulty if you want.

Ok, after playing the beta and now the final game for a few days, my final thoughts on this game:
- Campaign: I actually didn't hate it like most of the reviews, some cool missions and looks pretty great with very nice effects. Overall it's similar to vCoH campaign mostly, except that there are no connected missions like vCoH had some of those. Overall the campaign is disjointed and jumps from here to there and the story is the excuse to justify that.
Story is horrible of course and the depiction of the Soviets is so comical and one sided, almost makes you feel bad for the Nazis actually, it doesn't give the impression you're fighting for a nation under invasion. The story like I said is just an excuse to tie up disjointed unrelated missions together. At first looks like there is a narrative that follows a character, like CoH campaigns were, but after the first few missions the story pretty much shuts off in the middle until the end. I guess nobody really cares about this aspect, still it's very poor even for RTS games. It doesn't hold a candle to Relic's own past efforts, makes it very disappointing.
- Theater of War:
This mode really doesn't appeal to me much, if you want co-op it's probably better to play a proper game instead. There are some solo and other challenges, you probably need to do these to unlock stuff fill bar. I hate filling up bars.
- Base game/mechanics and core gameplay:
Base Building: From the first time I played the game, I questioned if this game really was designed with base building in mind from get go? I mean, your units come from off map anyway, building take very little time to build and cost little too compared with vCoH. They all look tiny and same, it takes a bit to recognize how each looks like. It basically doesn't matter where you place them, why this game has base building at all? I think it might have been a response to fan reactions and expectation in middle of development, it feels redundant to me. They probably wanted to go DoW2 approach. Still the game feels very similar to DoW2 any way. It doesn't matter where I place my buildings, my units come from same spot any way, where can be blocked by enemy tanks, I tested with AI player, I just put a PanzerIV near the road on the edge of them map and the enemy tank was basically stuck on the disabled area of the map, it can't shoot, I can't shoot it either. You can place a ht with thrower there to kill all the infantry just as they arrive on the map. No need for mines or anything. very easy hit and run tactics. With buildings, I can place them on the back of my base to prevent such things.
Speaking of DoW2, this game still very much plays like that. The Annihilation type game is essentially worthless here. The maps are wide with many ways and too many capture locations. There is no frontline in a sense, the game is basically circling around the map and capping points while the opponents does the same to your points, back and forth. Actually holding your ground isn't all that possible. Just spam cheap infantry in the beginning and cap points... it's not very fun to me. Of course most people play Victory point game, even that isn't the same. The game doesn't feel like a war any more, it's more of a cat and mouse. And that doesn't last long, infantry are pretty worthless when you can start rolling tanks and anti infantry like 10 minutes into the game. There is no mid game, infantry rush -> tanks. Support weapons other than mortars aren't as useful. Flame throwers are very powerful, have decent range and a quite long lasting effect, if your support weapon is caught on fire it's basically over, until it actually starts moving, it's all dead. Every cheap conscript has molotovs too which basically has the same effect. I think I'd rather just build Grenadiers with MG42, far better and far more mobile, good for capping points too!
Russian AT guns are worthless, they have a narrow arc and poor range. why even bother with these? etc.
So you cap some points and get resources going up, if 7-8 minutes, you can probably start rolling HTs and PanzerIV, load your Grenadiers into the HTs and start rolling around the map capping points with P4 escorts! lol, the Russian medium tanks are no much for P4, I'm sure a P4 will win every 1to1 encounter, it can have a MG42 too so it's effective against infantry as well. The game is pretty boring to me. doesn't look like or feel like a war. And the maps are quite similar and poor, all of them wide open with no strategic points where you can hold and fight for . Winter maps only make the infantry even less useful and rush for tanks and HTs faster. It doesn't have much of lasting appeal to me. There is no need to build bunkers or else, no repair or medical stations they are already on the map and you capture them. I actually liked those aspects of vCoH.
The commander system and perk unlocks, I don't think the effects are all that important to this type of gameplay here. Still annoying that they exist, this isn't CoD FPS game, even there it's bad for competition. Skins are nice though.
Presentation: Unit voices all sound the same pretty much, they don't stand out. Just put these next to the voices of vCoH and how every unit talked with a distinct voice and some good quotes. The Germans are entirely boring, Russians are somewhat better but voices aren't any good. The UI looks hideous and wasteful. Big space wasted around the huge minimap showing nothing, why it's that big? the panel in the middle now display information about the unit in form of a description which again is very useless considering the space it takes. The UI looks far too busy, it shows a lot of redundant, duplicate information. Of course you still can't customize keyboard shortcuts...
I don't get the complaints that the game is "more of the same", I wish it was more of the same, it's like same basic ideas of vCoH but the execution is completely different and that makes the matches play out entirely differently and not in a good way to me.

What I like about the game is snow/ice effects and overall explosions effects and AT/tanks projectiles look a lot better than vCoH and have more punch to it, maybe looks a bit over the top now, whatever vCoH has is just too boring in comparison.
