I can't believe one of these late night hosts haven't moved exclusive to streaming, like youtube.

Makes sense, Conan was starting to get overshadowed by the Late Shows fighting for a viral video and Conan already has the tools to differ himself from the pack.

Wonder if this means the show as we know is ending with no Andy or the band?

Proving yet again that Conan is the pound for pound greatest late night host of all time.

Has Colbert been yanked yet? Dude seems to be on vacation every time I tune in.

Andy is hosting some game show if I am not mistaken on ABC.

Colbert just got back from break like everyone else.

I would love it if he did an old fashioned variety show.

Only thing I really watch is clueless gamer on YouTube. His show just isn't what it used to be.

This is probably good for him. The standard late night daily format doesn't play to his strengths at all, not sure why he was so married to it.

Sounds like a great idea. I love Conan, but I only watch his clips on YouTube. I haven't tuned to a full show since high school (I'm 30 now).

I never watch his celebrity interviews. His best bits are the remotes so if that gives the writing team more time to focus on quality over quantity, I'm all for it!

I hope there is some flexibility with this. If they can do special events that take multiple days, like Comic Con, they should still do them. Or even a week in NY.

I know Conan has talked about basically doing a travel show someday when he stopped doing a talk show.

This sucks.

Conan's been doing a weekly Late Night show for almost 24 years. The only two people to do that longer are David Letterman and Jonny Carson (Leno was host of the Tonight Show for appropriately 22 years).

Maybe Conan asked for this, but I doubt he would do anything that would hurt his staff. I wonder if he'll still have weekly shows occasionally when he's on the road in other cities. Maybe he'll also have more exclusive YouTube content. Hopefully this some how works out the best and Conan gets more exposure. Feel bad for any staff that loses their job because of this.

I'm sad for him, but goddamn are there a lot of late shows these days.

From host of The Tonight Show to a one hour weekly show on TBS. Strip away what it really means, and go back a few years, and be able to get a peek into the future and imagine what we would all be thinking back then. On paper, especially a few years ago, that sounds borderline criminal.

I hope his new show continues on and he experiences more growth. For years I've wanted great things for this guy. He deserves it.

There really isn't a perfect formula for him unfortunately due to a crowded ecosystem and being on a network that failed to construct any sort of original content lineup. I feel like the traditional format is the only way to really keep his heels in the dirt.

Not surprised. From probably about 2008 to 2013 I did not miss a single episode of his show dating back to NBC even before the Tonight Show debacle.

Then around 2014 I started to just binge watch the episodes on the weekend instead of watching them when they aired.

Then last year I started to just watch clips on his site of the comedy skits and only checked out the interviews if it seemed interesting or there was some buzz about it.

Now I'll go weeks at a time where I just forget his show exists and then I'll try to remember the last episode I watched and try to watch all the clips and I just get bored and give up.

It feels like work trying to watch anything outside of the remotes and travel specials. Sad considering where he was at 7-8 years ago. Glad he's still getting paid at least.

Colbert is a Hollywood and news media sweetheart, he just got done hosting the honors at the Kennedy Center, and without coming off like a desperate starfucker like Corden. He'll be fine.

His opening monologues are still some of the best political satire on television.

Conservative outlets have raging hate-boners for him and opine almost weekly about how how much they wish he'd fail but there's nothing to suggest he's moving.

Conan's remotes have been his stand-out pieces ever since he went to Finland on his old show, it makes sense that he would eventually pivot toward a longer format.

RIP Team Coco. They're not doing well in ratings despite the PR, I do love the travel specials and it'd be a good way to cut some fat (Andy Richter) but getting downsized is not the best of signs

man I'd love Conan on Netflix. How long is he under contract with TBS?

Conan's contract ends in 2018. I guess he could potentially go elsewhere. Would be interesting to see if Netflix would be willing to give him a good deal. How's Chelsea Handler's Netflix show doing?

Netflix should give him money to do a travel show.

Conan is the best current late night talk show host.

It is insane that Colbert got a show after breaking kayfabe. Colbert u3d currently really dull.

Fallon has no balls

Kimmel funny at times still seems B-tier

Conan should have gotten the Tonight Show

Honestly there's too much content out there, unless you're doing a show on daily news, putting a week of effort into one show vs chugging along at one show per day def seems the way to go.

You can only take so many nights of celebrity interviews and throw away comedy.

Late night shows are becoming a thing of the past. All the best bits are on Youtube and go viral if they're funny.

Can we just agree as a society to give him back Late Night exactly the way it used to be and pretend like nothing happened?

I'm excited. The show needed a change. Conan is at his best--THE BEST--when out doing literally anything.

If they ditch the monologue and interviews, this could be amazing. But if it's just an hour of the same thing, then I don't see it working

I mean, he did get the Tonight Show. But then

I wonder if the success of Last Week Tonight also played into this? Conan is the only nightly traditional talk show that I find compelling, but I also think the road shows are the best episodes they make by far, so I'm split on this.

Yep. That said, Last Week feels too short sometimes as they devote a large chunk to one main topic. I wish it was bumped up just a bit.

I think he's best when he's off the cuff and thinking on his feet. His remotes are great. His monologues and celebrity interviews are terrible and make up such a huge chunk of his show. Ideally I would like to see him do essentially a comedy version of Anthony Bourdain's show.

It's always bugged the hell outta me that he went to TBS with this supposed creative freedom and just did the same ol nightly talk show format, monologue and all. The monologues are god awful, I can't believe he's stuck with them this long. Hopefully going to once a week gives him the push he needs to retool the format, if it's all road trip segments it'd be amazing, it's really where Conan shines, and offers something unique.

Reading that book about the late night wars, he seems obsessed with it, and in particular, the Tonight Show, to the point where it made him make some questionable decisions and allowed NBC to exploit it to get their way when the Leno shit hit the fan.

Oooo this actually sounds great! I think that Conan has the personality and creative segments to do really well with this format.
