it's not so much that i felt the conker demo was incredible (it was fun), but rather that mario sunshine was quite easily the biggest disappointment of that year (and probably the worst mario game i've ever played)

While Sunshine wasn't the evolution that 64 was, it's a spectacular game (minus most of the blue coins) and really the only platformer this gen that focused on simply moving through the enviorments. The definition of what a "platformer" is today has become so broad and yet there are no other games on the market that are at all like 64 or Sunshine.

call it whatever you want, the game was boring as fuck and sucked complete ass. i'll admit i only put about 5 hours into mario sunshine, but if a game can't at least keep you mildly interested in the first 5 hours it's probably not your game. oh, and i'm glad "there are no other games on the market that are like sunshine". think there might be a reason for that friend? maybe my expectations were too high, but bottom line is the game was pretty crappy. just my opinion, your average videogame player who really doesn't give a shit who is on the cover of the game (no free pass for mario!)

My friend rented SMS a few weeks ago. I grabbed the controller from him at one point and just started dicking around. He was shocked to find that Mario could wall-jump. As a matter of fact he SUUUUCKED at the game, whereas I gelled with the controls as if I had played it the day before (had been at least two years). Makes a huge difference. I can just jump around the hub town and have a good time in that game.
