The hair tells you all you need to know.

The plan worked. The site is going to get extra clicks from people outraged at the review and the game will sell better after people learning about the 'tropes around women'.

These people f*ck with the efforts of people with intelligence and common sense who indeed want equality and not to just be self entitled teenagers, if the progressive community (which I believe I am part of, but the lines are blurred nowadays since the vocal minority has claimed that space) won't understand this, the opposite extreme will arise and common sense will never prevail as the scale will just tilt the one way or the other.
I normally wouldn't endorse things like this, as politely as I can say it, HR has some work to do at Gamespot.
I genuinely believe this reviewer only does harm instead of good(but he is naive enough to believe he is doing good) by fueling the far right with hatred and managing to piss off even the average joe or progressive individuals like me by repeating "edgy" "progressive" anti trope reviews that resonate with no one but their own 1% of the progressive people pool.
f them.

An extremely tough looking lad.
Testosterone seethes from every orifice of his being like mighty geysers reaching out to heaven, offering that surplus strength to fight the evil of the misogynistic patriarchy. He comes equipped with the sandwich of sarcasm, because it's his love language.
More like mighty gaysers.

Unfortunately they only hire these type of persons anymore in the big game outlets. If you want a job as game journalist these days you either have to pretend you are trans or an activist…

Always wild how some of y'all treat basic incompetence like it's strategic genius. Not every dumpster fire is a covert marketing campaign. Sometimes people are just bad at their jobs. Relax, it ain't that deep

You need to understand that these people are paid to bring in clicks. And it's working, so they'll keep hiring these people to write content.

Break the cycle, ignore the poison frog-haircolored retards and this problem will go away.

That's right. Someone please check all other reviews for a reviewer who enjoyed the photography minigame featuring three women posing and let's make a thread and discuss that instead.

of course it is.

but yet 90% of normal people struggle to find employment and keep a steady income to keep their family afloat.

yet this degenerate will fail upwards his/shiz/flippity-floppitys whole life.

this is the poster child for "life isn't fair".
The pendulum is swinging, sooner or later all these untalentend twats and latinx experts are gonna serve fries and spit on people burgers.

Stellar Blade killed IGN France and their women, now Death Stranding 2 has killed all the women that GameSpot tries to save on a daily basis. You chuds make me and my imaginary army of friends / non confronting people of earth so mad. You will rue this day once the hair dye and anal bleach is restocked.

At this point its so common and pathetic that it is no longer offensive to me, just boring. They are getting less attention each time and they only exist because of that attention.

English is not my first language, so help me here, please. What "tropes" mean in this specific context?

"Trope" = a story element that is very familiar, an overdone pattern. If you remember Anita Sarkeesian, she had her "Tropes in Videogames" series. One example of a trope was the "damsel in distress" - think of Link setting out to rescue Princess Zelda, for instance. The man's purpose is to rescue the damsel in distress. That is a trope.

The author is actually misusing the word. As "tropes," he cites "three women posing in front of a camera" and "a central character who often takes her shoes off as crew members make a running commentary about this habit." Those aren't "tropes." A trope is a very familiar, overused story pattern. Those are just Kojima quirks that annoy him.

His type is so accustomed to pulling out the word "trope" to criticize, he just applies it reflexively, without thinking. It actually doesn't fit.

He should be entitled his view. Freedom of expression ( Brandenburg v. Ohio) is paramount for a healthy democracy, society and creativity.

That being said his review will sink that metacritic score which is unfortunate as Sony uses it as a metric for performance bonuses and green lighting sequels.

And this is unfortunate as KojiPro might be unfazed or not have any policy that takes these aggregated scores but many studios do and game developers will suffer.

The industry should move away from these scores as a metric for bonuses and raises.

Gamespot is still alive? lol
That website is worse than a blog with 300 ads now. I shit you not. You should click on it just to see how horrible it is from just a basic website standpoint. Their videos on YouTube now average between 1000 to 5000 views unless it is some sort of major click bait. Wild that they are still around.

Real talk. I don't doubt this... journalist feels this way but this is greenlit cause gamespot still believes that rage/contraversy still gets clicks. (which is appearing to be false as the years go on)

You did good OP. Archive it. Laugh at it. Move on.

Do not reward them with clicks.

In 2025, gaming journalist is a pejorative and things like this will continue that trend.
