PS5 supports pretty much any USB-C audio device and I love to use my Fiio pre-amp+HD650 when the console is parked near my PC gaming OLED monitor.
For TV outside of ATMOS soundbar I usually use ROG Pelta (a little gift fro my mother-in-law). It's a terrific headset for the money, but I keep the mic plugged off. So I guess it makes Pelta headphones too.
That being said, I prefer to use a proper microphone since I work in videoprouction anyway and own a few Shure USB/XLR units.
Gaming headsets. Wired Steelseries Arctis for PS5 (plugged in to the Dualsense) and wireless Xbox headphones for XSX.
I used to rely on traditional headphones, but having a long cable coming out of the tv wasn't ideal and that led to some small accidents (and broken cables).
Headset. In my case Steelseries Arctis 7P. The white ones to go with my PS5. Great battery life, never had a single problem with them. The bass i feel like something is off like if it's an explosion far away it comes off distorted sometimes...but i have a feeling i wasn't good at calibrating them lol.
I'm using the Sony Pulse Explore with the dongle for the PS5 and with bluetooth for the Switch2, pretty good and easy to use setup.
And the sound of it is superb, best in ear I had.
For the PC I use a basic G435 Logitech, both for teams meetings and gaming.
I usually use a home cinema system but on occasions usually when playing MP games with my son I'm using Sony's Pulse Elite. They are good enough for me.
So far I've been really satisfied with the Pulse Elite headset since it connects simultaneously to the PS5 and my macbook via bluetooth. No complaints about sound quality either, comparable to my Sony XM3 headphones.
I have the pulse 3d for the ps5, they suck but they are convenient. I had a dss2 connected with the phillips shp9500 or 1000xm3 on the ps4...but I also have a baby now, who loves pulling cables.
I use Sony Inzone H5 now in both PS5 and PC. An improvement over my previous Sony Pulse 3D specially regarding battery time and specially max. distance allowed.
I ended up getting the Astro A50X (eventually for free due to logitech being useless) and really enjoy them. I had money from selling some stuff and had a birthday too so decided to spoil myself (plus I was having issues with Bluetooth headphones in some games)
Sound is amazing (using Dolby Atmos), comfort is great, and the mic is the best I've ever used on a headset. The only thing that annoys me is trying to get them on the charging dock as it can take a few tries for them to register / sit correctly. I do have third party ear pads on them that are bigger than the standard, so that doesn't help. I could just use a USB C cable too though.
EDIT - Sorry, didn't notice the "console players" part of the question.
I use the Razer Blackshark 2.0. My favorite headset of all time was a wired Shark Lagoon Headset that I found used in a GameStop back in 2010. Great audio, solid base, and comfortable to boot… until the damn puppies got to them… the company doesn't seem to exist anymore either. I can't find a trace of them online.
Now I'm looking for a new headset and I'm considering either the Astro A30s for their versatility or the A50 X for their quality. Anybody got suggestions?
I have the skullcandy hesh anc headphones that i use. It connects via bluetooth to my Denon AVR so i can use them with all my devices that are plugged in via hdmi. I dont talk to people so i dont care about using headsets.
Astro A40s. Technically I think it's a gaming headset, but I get any and all sound from my TV through it, regardless of what device is in use. I don't think of it as a gaming headset. To me it completely replaced my old JVC amp and speakers.
Drop+Epos PC38X. Very happy with them, much thanks to their cheap price, light weight and good audio quality. I have WH-1000XM5 too, but they are quite heavy in comparison and not something I enjoy wearing for 5+ hours.
I don't play much online multiplayer, but it's nice to have a microphone option for an occasional match in Warzone.
Well by that I meant the one that's integrated in to your motherboard, but if you've got a really high end pair of headphones then you'd still benefit from a dedicated soundcard, even in the year or 2025.
