Some people I went with didnt care for it but I enjoyed it as a comic book movie (the majority of people I spoke to thought it was very entertaining though). Special effects are badass and the story was pretty intriguing. Got to see the Hitchhiker's Guide trailer on the big screen too which made going worthwhile by itself. :D

You saw it already??? I'm pretty interested in this movie and have not read any of the comics (didn't know it was based on a comic until just recently). So out of 8 dollars, how much was it worth?

Damn, we're just now getting trailers for Constantine in Japan. It won't be out here for another two months.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about the plot. I just want to see the apocolyptic special effects.

C'mon Silent Hill movie! Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

They're some of the best I've ever seen -- you won't be disappointed on that front. As for your question OMan, I'd say it's definitely worth the price of admission if you enjoy comic book movies. It's got some goofy bits, but that comes with the territory.

M'lady says she'll see Constantine if it's not uber violent and gory.

... FEEDBACK?

The majority of the violence is demons dying and they just sort of turn into dust. There are a few parts though that kinda reminded me of X-Files/Millennium style deaths. Overall though, pretty tame on the gore side of things.

This is good to hear. Especially glad to hear that it is good comic book movie. I shall check this out this weekend. Hopefully I will get to check out that Hitchhiker's Guide trailer as well.

Supposedly the teaser/trailer for A Scanner Darkly will be on some of the prints.. I was hoping it'd be on the one we got to see but no go. Did get to see Batman Begins and Kingdom of Heaven though (along with the shitty looking Stealth and the shitty looking House of Wax).

Cool, I'm going to see it this weekend I think. I'm not expecting much, but I like a decent sfx flick and creepy angel/demon war movies are a fav.

If it's comparable I'll be happy.

We had to show House of Wax. Stealth was just the random one we chose out of the rest of our options.

Anyway, it was okay. There was a scene in there that reminded me of Resdient Evil 4 at the end. Special effects were cool, everything else was "meh".

"Was it a new Batman trailer?"

No, it wasn't.

"M'lady wants to know if the film has a depressing, happy or okay ending."

Okay. Glimmer of a good future.

on the next matrix sequel/possibility - the actor playing the Kid (aussie) did mention that the producers told him if there were to be a sequel, he'd be the lead. Notice how he played such a big role in Revolutions; and his ability to self-substantiate in Animatrix?

I wouldn't rule the movie out.... just yet.

An army of movie execs who have no ideas left for movies are all applauding right now.

Constantine was "pretty good".

If I was to gripe, I would say that Keanu wasn't right for the role, and the movie wasn't gritty/dark enough. Still pretty good though...

This is the first I've heard of it, and I find it impossible to believe that if true, this wouldn't have appeared first on any of the various movie news sites. I call bullshit.

...and yet I'll still stay through the credits...

OK, never mind. Apparently there is a scene after the credits, but isamu was just fucking around about what it was.

I actually did see the movie last nite... but didn't stick around for the extra scene. Anyone care to say what it was?

Vindication...sweet.
I enjoyed Constantine. The movie felt long since the whole pacing of the film was slow, but Keanu Reeves got the job done. The premise, the looks, the characters.....all very interesting. The CG effects were nice as well, but since we've all been spoiled by all the wizardry seen in the Matrix films, the Blade films, and so on, the visuals in Constantine felt "been there, done that", but hey.....it was still cool to watch.

Heaven and Hell can continue to duke it out in future Constantine films....I'm all for it! :)

Constantine was good but i cant help but think how much better it would have been with a better actor....someone who could pull of the grittyness.

Seeing it on DLP tomorrow morning.

I read one review where they said it felt like a PG-13 movie (compared the action to Hellboy and Spidey 2) and the only reason it got an R was for the language and religion setting.

Can anyone who has seen it confirm that?

I just got back from seeing the movie, and I must say that it was pretty good. I'll probably end up seeing it again as well and will purchase the DVD. I guess if I had to rate it, 8 out 10 feels right.

Also, I forgot to stay through the credits...arrrrrgh. :/

The Batman Begins trailer = HAWT. I was sold before, and now I can't wait.

Too religious

Uh, why the fuck did you see a movie where the main character is trying to work his way into heaven by killing demons from hell if you're just going to call it too religious?

I thought overall it was pretty crappy, but the portrayal of a specific surprise character near the end (
... Satan! ...
) was great

I saw it this afternoon.

It was okay, but it needed more money spent on it. Half the budget must have gone to the few visual effects sequences that are in it (snippets from almost all of the visual effects shots are in the theatrical trailer). The rest of the movie (which is basically Reeves and Weisz talking to each other) takes place principally on a few pretty tiny sets, and the director uses lots of close-up shots of actors to disguise it. The editing was a little choppy as well--I'd've been pretty confused in the first act if I hadn't already been mildly spoiled.

That said, the final scenes rocked, mainly because of Tilda Swinton
(Gabriel)
and Peter Stormare
(Lucifer)
. I wish it had been more of an actor-driven movie with a richer screenplay, instead of a small-budget film that tries to fool you into thinking it's a huge special-effects extravaganza. Worth a matinee ticket, though.

Peter Stormare can do no wrong.

As for the movie, it was pretty good overall but
everything seemed to get solved and fixed before there was any real sense of danger
. I wanted hell to break loose on earth.

Yeah, perfect casting there and Gabriel as well.

I liked it well enough and would definitely like to see another Constantine.

It's kind of funny actually. With Constantine and Batman Begins; DC movies are getting really good while with Blade Trinity, Elektra, and Fantastic Four; Marvel movies are starting to take a dive.

I dunno. I thought the effects were going to be pretty cool.

They weren't.

btw, was Constantine, the character created with Sandman? Because that's the first I've heard of him. Or was he just part of the DC universe, as quite a few worked their way into The Sandman graphic novels.

He's the main character from Hellblazer (not Hellraiser like those retards on The Screen Savers said).
