Inside those decision making rooms. It's crazy that Dreamcast controller had a hall effect stick in 1999 and then console manufacturers just decided we won't do that thing ever again in 25 years.
I went through my joycons and 2 pro controllers on Switch this gen. Never replaced my joycons (I fucking hate the ergonomics of those things anyway) and when my 2nd pro controller shit the bed with drift during Tears of the Kingdom, I said fuck it. Never completed the game and ended up using a wired 3rd party pad I bought for like $20 with no rumble or gyro, etc. I bought exactly one game for the system after that and haven't purchased or played anything on the Switch since.Inside those decision making rooms.
Hey boss we can make damn near the perfect controller that lasts almost forever
You mean we cant sell them an $80 controller every 6 months?
Nope these hall effect sticks last a super long time

If you play CoD with controller you very probably deserve it anyway.

Hasn't happened to me yet, and hopefully does not.
This might be a temp fix (cannot say if it will fix it or not for certain but perhaps worth a try?):
Played this quite a few times with a controller yesterday, didn't fail me once. Won several rounds as well. Just adjust the deadzone in the setting, how hard can it be.
I mean, people keep buying them, so what incentive do they have to fix it? Even the $200 Dualsense Edge uses potentiometers, and people still buy them in droves....only gen I've ever had this problem, with 3 out of the 4 Dualsense controllers I own.
Wait, you want a class action lawsuit for a device with a warranty? Good luck. How hard can it be to not sell overpriced trash to your customers?
People saying the mode is shit ignoring the real problem really cracks me up, they just bend over for these assholes and their garbage products.
Stop justifying these corpos, I hope there’s a class action lawsuit incoming, I’m actually surprised that 4 years later they keep getting their way in Europe.
And nothing will force corpos to change their ways if this keeps up.with 3 out of the 4 Dualsense controllers I own.
Some of us have massive bear paws for hands and with how I rest my thumbs on their pads to use the sticks my thumbs constantly bump and rub against each other using the dualsenseDo they sell mini controllers or does he have thighs for thumbs?
You mean Saturn 3D Control Pad in 1996. Magnetic analog triggers too on both. Though quality potentiometers are fine, like CH Products uses in their immortal flight sticks etc. It's crazy that Dreamcast controller had a hall effect stick in 1999 and then console manufacturers just decided we won't do that thing ever again in 25 years.
Stick Drift is my biggest disappointment this gen. I had every Playstation console, and this is the only gen I've ever had this problem, with 3 out of the 4 Dualsense controllers I own. The only one that hasn't gotten it (yet) is the 30th anniversary controller I just picked up a little while ago.
Absolutely embarrassing flaw considering the cost of modern day controllers.

Exactly. It started with ps4. My guess is just cheaper parts to save costs, which in turn actually makes them even more money since people keep buying controllers more often.Yeah that too but I think the Dreamcast controller was the last one that came from 1st party manufacturers with hall effect sticks.
Though I have PS1, PS2 and PS3 controllers that never generated stick drift so I don't know what went wrong this generation.
I'm tall but wasn't blessed/cursed with digits as wide as the Xbox d-pad. Are you paw folk forced to wear mittens instead of gloves? Some of us have massive bear paws for hands and with how I rest my thumbs on their pads to use the sticks my thumbs constantly bump and rub against each other using the dualsense
One huge reason I prefer the stick layout of the Xbox controllers

Dualshock 3 on PS3 had hall effect sensors on launch models so not quite accurate but agree on the sentiment. It's crazy that Dreamcast controller had a hall effect stick in 1999 and then console manufacturers just decided we won't do that thing ever again in 25 years.

Well I'm not going to play with a controller that I don't feel comfortable with. I've tried plenty of other controllers. I need a good dpad, I hate asymmetrical sticks, and Dualsense feels the best in my hands. I like the other features too like the speaker, rumble, adaptive triggers, microphone, etc. It's just the sticks that are the problem, and Sony should be shamed for it.And nothing will force corpos to change their ways if this keeps up.
Can confirm, yes. I've had to send 8 joycons to Nintendo for stick drift, counting my daughter's and wife's joycons as well. Games are essentially unplayable with any amount of it.Doesn't stick drift ruin pretty much any game?
Wait really? ....that's fuckin awesome. How come people don't talk about that more?Dualshock 3 on PS3 had hall effect sensors on launch models so not quite accurate but agree on the sentiment.
