Sometimes I think he can but a lot of times I think he's just so used to Garfield that he understands him even though Garfield can't talk.

Yeah I'll never get the hate. Sure there are some bad ones, but it's still one of the funnier comics out there. I always used to turn to it first with the Sunday newspaper.
