Was wondering if anyone here uses it.. Wired has an article about a guy who made a movie about it. A friend recommended it to me last summer when I was looking for a job, and I responded to a job posting. Needless to say, I lucked out and got a decent job out of the deal. It seems like a great asset (especially in smaller markets, where its lesser known) to anyone searching for stuff.

They've got some fucked up stuff on there, but they've also got mundane shite, like job postings at your local food court offering $5.50/hour.

I've also seen posts searching for experiend stilt walkers (offering $50/hour).

Anyone use it/have success stories?

Craigslist got me a telemarketing job that was causing me spontaneous psychosomatic illnesses after 2 weeks. So I quit. Yay!

craigslist is the bomb diggity. Has gotten me interviews and work on a film. I actually just closed craigs on the other tab before hitting the OT.

Also casual encounters is a web surfing guilty pleasure :lol

I check on the SF section every other day or so. Never did find anything in the art section that suits me. I got this modeling gig thru it once, but that was it. Just discovered gamesutra like last week, and from what I've seen, I like it more. Had no idea the bay area have so many game companies.

If live in a major city and you're looking for a job online and you're using HotJobs and Monster, and NOT Craigslist, you're an idiot.

I never thought to check there for jobs for some reason. Decided to take a look and winded up applying for 2 freelance gigs. Good call!

Craigslist is great for jobs, but you have to be very, very careful. One posting I replied to turned out to be something pretty shady, and ever since then I've instituted a personal rule for their job postings that I follow to this day:

If the e-mail contact is a CL-generated anon account, I skip it. If the person soliciting isn't willing to go so far as to at least give me the name of the company, I'm not going to give them my complete work history, plus my contact information.
